"A New Year Greeting” by W. H. Auden - Poetry Tuesday No.152

Curious how addressing the microcosm, as Auden does here, draws attention to the macrocosm as well. Almost as if the whole thing were connected. ;) You can read the text of this poem at All Poetry: allpoetry.com/a-new-year-greeting Poetry Tuesday is an ongoing program at our Fountain Hill branch. "Self-Portrait in which I Am Not Polite” by Denise Duhamel - Poetry Tuesday No.151
Просмотров 1821 день назад
This week's poem put me in mind of Louise Erdrich's "Advice to Myself" (Poetry Tuesday No. 34). It is from Duhamel's salty new chapbook "In Which." For those unfamiliar, a chapbook is a short, inexpensive book, usually of poetry, often on a theme. The text of this poem and another from the same chapbook can be read in the online journal Body Literature at: www.bodyliterature.com/2023/04/28/deni...

"“Fairy Tale” by Ron Padgett - No.145

A dark and intriguing poem this week! What do you suppose is the relationship between the elf at the beginning of the poem and the man at the end? Are they one and the same? Is there a causal link? If you believe in one, must you believe in the other? What do you think? The text of this poem can be seen at the Academy of American Poets: poets.org/poem/fairy-tale Poetry Tuesday is an ongoing pro...

Thank you from this Winter Solstice 2024 ✨
Why is this so funny though...his nonchalantness, and her spinning of the camera and laughter 😂
Wow
Hey it’s Vsauce
Why spell evening that way?
In the 1980s we had Stern as visiting professor. He was just a wonderful man with a keen eye and a giant heart. He could recite Ginsberg"s Howl lying on his back. 😂 In the workshops we called him Bad Jerry. That was when "bad" meant awesome. He was lovely. RIP my mishpocha🙏
Bethlehem Area Public Library, cool video keep up the amazing work
Lovely poem, thank you!
You saved my life. I needed this for school
Thanks for reading this! I have been looking for this but could not find it anywhere!

Lovely! And such a wonderful book!
I hated Big Two Hearted River at 20 years old - loved To Have and Have Not at 60.
I just discovered this year, when you have an abundance of fresh tomatoes at the end of summer, you can just take six or eight of them and put them into a ziplock and stick them in the freezer fresh tomatoes throughout winter, well kind of fresh tomatoes LOL I use them to put into red lentil Curry
You might consider overnight oats. I use maybe a mashed ripe banana or some dates and I put it into a mason jar with some maybe half a cup of raw oatmeal uncooked, I add to that a teeny bit of Vanilla some water tablespoon of cocoa powder and say I have a cup of water. I started stick it in the fridge and the next morning it is fantastic cold, or after dinner it makes a pretty yummy dessert while I'm watching TV also sometimes instead of chocolate I use peanut butter powder the sugar-free kind and add dates and or banana to that with the oats in the water and let it sit for a couple hours and yum! Again cold.
Beautiful Pictures 😍
Beautiful poem❤
What a surprise to hear my poem featured & so beautifully read; you read it coincidentally on our daughter's father's birthday. I was just sharing the poem with a friend who hadn't known Elizabeth, who in her own villanelle taught us all about loss. Please correct the spelling of my surname, & I hope you do enjoy reading Elizabeth's own poems aloud. Sandra McPherson, Davis, California.
You said it best, Cleveland: "Pretty fine poem". Thank you!
Shoutout to the passing car that sent some borrowed light my way--sir or madam, your timing is impeccable!
