The deck focuses more on trying to get out a bunch of eggs in one turn which required us to change up our strategy a bit.

    My fellow commander enjoyer, I wanted to play this deck and alrady build one. At the moment Im fiding really hard to deal with fly creatures so I came to youtube to find this great video with a fantastic deck list. The first problem in assemble this deck its the money that you need to spend to make it workable. Today 25/1/2025 ( sorry Americans), the deck list with the cards that are missing from the list only 44, it cost me £522.06 ( and thats the cheapest of the cheaspest probably the amount its even higher) . Guess we back to proxies...

      you dont need to put the cards i use. If you have a problem with other players creatures that have flying, just put more creatures that have flying. There are many cheap angels and dragons you could use instead of the expensive cards in the video.

      But to be fair this list would be ideal.

      @ right but if your challenge is budget then you can proxy which is very cheap, or find budget alternatives. Especially with the creatures, there really isnt any "must" includes. Alot of if it is preference or playgroup focused. Its kind of what i love most about the deck. You can run whatever cool creatures you want . You dont need the eldrazis or a specific dragon or angel. There are plenty of budget alternatives for almost everything expensive in the deck. name some cards that you would want budget replacements for that you saw in the list and ill try and give some options.

    • @commanderinsight
      @commanderinsight 19 дней назад

      it definitely could as an easy 2 card win con. IT all depends on how powerful youre trying to make the deck. Since both pieces of the combo are creatures it allows them access from karador in the gy and if your running the hermit druid with 2-3 basics youll likely mill them in 1 or 2 attempts. So it can be easy to dump into the yard and bring out with reanimation effects making it quite powerful. Felidar Sovereign is tougher to win with bcuz its your upkeep effect but the angel bringing you back to 40 life helps too. I've updated this deck a bit since 2022 but the essence of the deck is still there. Try to mill your library with hermit druid and go off in variosu ways you can.

    Burried alive, Eternal Witness, and Roaming Throne are three unbelievable cards for meren. Its a way to get any spells you want from your graveyard. Roaming Throne procs twice with meren and eternal witness. so you can run spore frog to avoid combat damage while you get all of your needed cards like sheoldred or mycoloth. and if you continuously sac Eternal witness you bring back enchantments and non creature permanents you need. Roaming throne is new so that makes sense why its not in the video, but it really makes meren a lot better. It also gets exiled 3 turns into it being out lol. but that's one less to target meren and keep your engine running

      @@jiahgl yeah this video is older and the deck has been updated since then. Meren is falling behind a bit with the power creep it’s not as fast and doesn’t do enough. Everything happens at the end of your turn too. Don’t get me wrong I love meren and I still have a deck and I try to have it keep up with the times. I admittedly haven’t tried roaming throne but doubling up on meren triggers would be helpful in keeping pace. It would double up death triggers too for exp counters. Pretty good

    I might be wrong but I think mana pools empty as phases end. So you can't add mana MP1 go to combat then MP2 still have the mana from before combat because it emptied when you go to combat and mp2. That's how I understand from the rules anyway. Is this correct?

      @@pocalypse5726 unfortunately I don’t think it can work that way. Solely because the eggs are tokens and when a token goes to the graveyard it ceases to exist essentially so it can’t come back. Luminous would be the best card in the deck of that were the case

    Hi, I wanted to thank you for putting these videos up! I had been looking at making an Atla Palani deck and this iteration with Possibility Storm finally made me do it. I did have a few questions based on what I'm seeing so far. Do you find that you have enough ramp? I ask because of course there's not a ton of stuff we can do before we get Atla out (and as your moxfield primer says, prior to playing her we want to ramp and get sac outlets out) and in my goldfish testing I find that I, 20-25% of the time, don't draw enough ramp to be effective and I've included in my version both more lands and more ramp than yours. Are you frequently able to get Possibility Storm when you need it? My fetch strategy for it is similar and I was just curious how heavily I can rely on being able to get it out when I need it. Did you consider Phyrexian Altar for a sac outlet? I thought it was cool, but ofc for the same mana cost as Ashnod's Altar it's not giving us as much of an advantage. I *personally* will probably include it over Altar of Dementia because I feel like it gives me more of what I'm looking for. Thank you again!!

    • @commanderinsight
      @commanderinsight 2 месяца назад

      Hey thanks for the comment. Im glad to hear you built Atla Palani and im flattered if any of my videos helped influence. She is just so much fun and i don't ever get bored with the excitement of cracking an egg to see what creature we hit. let me know how it plays with your meta/playgroup. To address your questions, I probably could add more ramp to the deck but I feel it still runs well without. When you say 25% of the time youre not effective what do you mean by that? my ramp over the iterations of the deck changes ive made were mainly mana rocks like the talismans and such. The goal was to drop AP by turn 3-4. If you draw zero ramp and just hit your land drop each turn you can drop her turn 4. Getting 1 ramp spell off in the first 2 turns can allow for a turn 3 AP. This makes the deck super fast and therefore scary to our opponents. What was happening to me was AP was getting targeted hard every time I would drop her that early. I was archenemy right away and all my opponents' removal was held up for her which is a bad time for us. This is what we call a meta shifting deck because the deck would draw so much threat just by playing it. It was cool to see but also a big challenge since Im basically arch enemy no matter what. So i "slowed" her down a bit but what that really means is I try to set up a little more before dropping her. We didnt slow the deck down necessarily but i am just delaying casting her a turn or 2 later and using those turns to set up more protection or sac outlets and maybe even casting some other creatures first for a board presence. So the long winded answer is that there could be a case for more ramp for sure. But you have to weigh the pros and cons. we're in green with no way to double land drop so adding more lands sort of clogs your hand because although youre ensuring land drops for future turns, you wont be able to play more than one land from your hand (kodama east tree effect could but that needs to be out). Adding more spells that ramp is a solution but the popular ones that are left like rampant growth, farseek and explosive veg bring the lands in tapped which i personally dont like but could be a good solution. I could see skyshroud claim being in there since you can get 2 mana back essentially. Also adding more 2 mana rocks like the signets maybe or some colorless ones could help ensure a faster start. The question then becomes what do you want to take out for those slots? 20-25% isn't terrible to me for not getting the ramp you need, that means youre effective 75% of the time. Nothing can be 100% so adding more cards can raise the percentage, but to what level? You might add 3 lands and 4 more ramp cards and not see them at all to make a difference majority of the games. By all means though try it and let me know what you find because If theres improvements to be made Im always open. One other big thing to remember is with AP effect, it take all the cards that weren't creatures and puts them on the bottom of your deck. Theres going to be many many times you bottom a lot of good non-creature cards in your deck because they were in-between the next creature. This adds an extra layer of probability to the deck that websites cant calculate for you. Idk how to calculate it either but any non creature you add to the deck has a good chance of being bottomed. This is why we rely on redundancy so much. Multiple sac outlets, multiple haste enablers and so on. Transitioning into your other questions, I have thought about using Phyrexian Altar too. The dumb reason i dont run it is because i only own 1 and its in a black sac deck lol. But if i needed to add another instant speed sac outlet that would probably be what i add. 3 mana is the highest noncreature sac outlet i run and ashnods is the best. All your really going to be sacking are eggs so as you said, it doesnt add as big of an advantage but it still could be useful especially if you need color mana to cast from hand. Ashnods can give you the mana to make another egg with AP too which is why i like it so much. I wouldnt sleep on Altar of dementia though its 2 mana for instant sac and the mill effect can be deadly. For the most part you wont be milling since eggs are zero power, but being able to mill someone instant speed is powerful. you can mess up someone's plan who tutors anything to the top of their library or mill yourself if you know the next few cards coming arent helpful. Worst case its a 2 mana instant sac outlet which is alot better for an early curve then 3. Id run all 3 if you can fit it. I dont get possibility storm out every game. With the way this deck functions, its tough to go for a specific card or strategy just because of the nature of the bottoming so many cards from AP. Theres really only 3 ways to get possibility storm, the most frequent way will probably be from sacing academy rector to go find it, followed by enlightened tutor to search it to the top and lastly just drawing it normally. A 4th way could be to worldy tutor for academy rector. So theres 4 cards in the deck that can be possibilty storm and 3 of them are non creatures which means you really cant plan to see those cards. Possibility storm is just so good that if you do manage to get it off it changes the game so much in your favor. I hope these help and keep me posted on your decklist and how it runs. I don't mind giving out an email for players who want to have longer and further discussions about the deck.

      Yep, I am adding Annie instead of the shaman so that my eggs don’t hit it. Also, I’m going to experiment with Lurking Predators and Cream of the Crop combo. Cream also works well with the theme of the deck. I’ll probably remove Eldritch Evolution to test and something else for the cream. I’m eager to see how stacking the deck works. Plus free creatures with lurking could be insane! I can see this deck instantly being one of my favorites. Also, sylvan tutor is probably going in since it’s a worldly tutor clone and is crazy in this deck.

    • @commanderinsight
      @commanderinsight 8 месяцев назад

      @@Bondman007Vids Those are some spicy combos. I've used lurking predators in the very early builds of this deck. I never used cream of the crop in here though. I've used both individually in other decks. Cream of the crop didn't really do what i wanted it to but again i didn't use the 2 together. I'd say by themselves they aren't great stand alone but yes together they can basically keep dropping huge creatures whenever an opponent casts anything. What always happened to me with lurking predators was i would keep whiffing good non-creature cards and scrying them to the bottom in an attempt to dig for a creature, then would draw the big beater creature because my opponents didn't cast anything more just by happenstance. It happened too many times for me to justify the 6 drop enchantment lol. I hope you have better luck with it. If your focus is to try and stack the deck i'd also look into congregation at dawn. Its a wordly tutor for up to 3 creatures. Could be useful with lurking predators. I currently run both annie joins up and harmonic prodigy. My reasoning for not taking out prodigy is because even though its not great to hit when you need a beater to block or attack from an egg, she will allow you to get double the beaters every time thereafter. I dont know the statistical numbers but its more likely she will hit the battlefield over annie joins up. shes cheaper to cast if they end up in your hand and can come out from egg triggers that dig through your deck which really helps the odds of seeing her. also i put maskwood nexus back in the deck (not in video) and that makes everything and egg but also makes everything a shaman/wizard so any time any creature effect triggers it does it twice. this is huge for a lot of effects where annie only lets legendary creatures trigger twice. but both of these work well for Atla either way. Its nice to have both to increase the odds of getting at least one of them out so your eggs double. It can get crazy when you have a token doubler out and a double trigger, you pay 2 mana, make 2 eggs instead of 1 and then get 4 beaters out from it. Last thing, someone else in the comments mentioned using life finds a way. I'm really looking into this again now that we have the ability to make more eggs. This card alone can bring out almost all the creatures in your deck. As long as you can keep an egg token out, you can sac another egg, bring out a beater with power 4+ then populate to make another egg and sac that egg do it again, populate and keep it going. If you wanted to make it a guarantee you an make sure every creature has 4+ power. Let me know how it goes with your brewing and testing!

    • @Bondman007Vids
      @Bondman007Vids 8 месяцев назад

      Wow. Thats some great insight! Thats why I really like your video. The reasoning with the harmonic prodigy makes perfect sense. The flaw to the lurking predators/cream of the crop is the age old problem with edh, getting 2 cards out at the same time can be almost impossible at times. • @commanderinsight
      @commanderinsight 8 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks for sharing. My honest opinion is I feel court of grace would be tough to maintain in order to keep getting the angels. Any of the court enchantments have alluring effects if youre the monarch but you need blockers and ways to keep the monarch or get it back. Best case you get 1 angel each turn. Worst case it’s a 1/1. The other 2 angel generators can make multiple during our turn and I think play into the enchantment strategy a bit better. If you’re leaning into the token build and just want as many token effects to make lots of them and go wide then it could be a cool include. I’d also recommend archon of suns grace, divine visitation, ajanis chosen and then the 2 card combo I mention in this video that gives you infinite tokens

So the bigger your graveyard the more options you have. You can get cheeky with it and use effects that bring back multiple creatures and keep recurring them. If ever you want to get the engine going faster, you can swap in some low cost Shapeshifters. This way you can play one before Atla comes out and directly sac it for an "egg" trigger once she's out. This also doesn't make it an issue when flipping an egg into a Shapeshifter as you can simply sac it as an "egg" to go get a creature. I had a version of Atla with multiple Shapeshifters and as soon as you get a trigger doubler ([Harmonic Prodigy], [Illusionist's Bracers] or the new insane [Annie Joins Up]) it goes crazy; Sac an egg, flip out a Shapeshifter and a Beater, sac the Shapeshifter and repeat.
