Hiking Half Dome in Yosemite July 2023

An amazing birthday experience to hike up Half Dome in Yosemite National Park! Recommendations: - apply for cables permit on weekdays, less crowds - bring gloves for holding onto cable - using hiking poles bc it’s steep - don’t bring hiking poles on cables bc you will poke people - start the hike EARLY! No later than 6am - bring rain jacket for waterfalls - go up Most trail and down JMT bc it’s...

This is fantastic. Australia really needs a traffic free bike trail the whole way along the coast. Looks amazing.
Thank you and well done. Inspirational.
Doing this exact trip in July!
How did you get from Traralgon to Melbourne in one day? It's almost 200kms! I understand there is an allowance for poetic licence, though I was keen to see the route you took on the last few days toward Melbourne.
Hiim planning to do this trip in 2 months, what do you reccomend for travel? Big back pack or suitcase? i want to go back to tokyo t shop so i am planning to take a big suitacse with a small suitcase inside. whats your take on this?
What a coincidence. Came across your AU bikepacking trip and checked out your channel. Did the same Japan trip, really enjoyed it as well :D
very cool video and intro to Mallorca. the weather looks just perfect. Thx for linking the Strava! Take care!
Thank you! Hope you get to go and enjoy Mallorca!
Du er så søt
takk!
Your editing is getting better, I like adding the route graphic in there
Thank you!! Yes, editing got a whole lot better now that I have a laptop! I was editing on an iPad before
Right on🎉🎉
Thank you! It took almost a day to upload this video, slow internet and big file using higher resolution. But so happy it’s done!
You're absolutely correct. We need to focus on the good things in life.
great vid, thank you!
This video is amazing. I would love to do this but starting from Melbourne since that's where I live.
I just wanna chill at the beach and look at videos how everything is bad
ghreat vid loved seeing through your eyes our lovely country! Head up to Alpine region ;) Enjoy the Melbourne coffee?
awesomeness, go you! Still here?
I enjoyed your video. Have you ever thought about going across Canada? If so, I'd think west to east would be better because after BC's mountains, its downhill all the way to the St. Lawrence.
Welcome to Australia, our bike lanes and road shoulders are only provided where you don't need them. <rolleyes> Other "pro" Aussie cycling tip is start early (6am), finish early. (11am)
yawn
Funny comment
I think at this point burning man has turned into just a cliche
Many things in life are cliche!
Awesome video! Only watched because I'm trying to figure out safe routes E/SE out of Melbourne but I got so engaged in your journey! Probably helps I spent childhood in Canberra and know a few Saphire Coast spots from our summers ❤ Bit disappointed there's nothing between Traralgon and Dandenong, was hoping to get some new info, but it just confirmed my concerns: there's no safe version of that ride. Guessing you got the train? Gotta say, well tf done on that ride, especially in that wet Summer, and thanks for all the tidbits of seriously good info/advice. Sounds lame, but very seriously well done 👍❤👍
👌🏽
Retarded
So called "ADULTS" with too much time & money to literally burn. Where the word MORALITY is laughed at & considered old fashioned and too judgmental.
Judgy for sure
what a waste of mental space
lol your videos have single and double digit views, you're a waste of space in data centers that can hold exabytes
For some it is and for some it isn’t
whaat a bunch of fucking wierdo degenerates.
What an amazing adventure. Smart move taking the bus. Your video is very motivating and inspirational.
Great video of journey and fantastic route even the highway and well done to you for your achievement 😊
Pretty good footage, Melbourne( great ocean road) to Adelaide (city of churches ) would’ve been nice. You could come down here again 🌹🙂🇦🇺
Nice video and great effort. Love the call out for safety and having the satellite access for emergencies. The pace of your trip had lots of time to enjoy the scenery. I attempted Melbourne to Sydney in 2021 and failed at Orbost. Had to try again in 2022. I went via Orbost -> Delegate -> Cooma -> Canberra -> Mittagong to get to Sydney and can really empathise riding on some sections of road with a skinny shoulder. Like your trip the best riding was on rail trails or gravel roads without cars. One day I’ll do Mel -> Syd again but I’ll look at following the coast. Thanks for the video!
Great video and amazing achievement. Congratulations and cheers from Sydney.
great video, glad you enjoyed the snot block, one of my favourite desserts. Couldn't stop laughing. It would be great if australia was connected with great bike paths like in victoria. Next time you are down under come and down to Geelong and do the Great Ocean road, plenty of bike trails around here.
great video, even cooler to see you stayed at Woonona where I lived when I first came to Australia.
Hey I saw you cycling in australia . How is that cycling on the highway . In my country we have cycling roads everwhere , If you cycle on the highway The police will come and you get a fine Its prohibit even cycling on the sidewalk. We even have trafficlights for bycicle the (the netherlands ) I have self plans to go cycling in new zealand
Good luck in New Zealand! I wish to go there myself some day! Yeah, hope Australia improves its cycling infrastructure! It has great potential!
Amazing and awesome congratulations on your efforts
I did a double take when you mentioned the cost for non-powered site at Bermagui….hmmm..
Really enjoyed your video thanks. I did this 25 years ago with my then girlfriend as she wanted a challenge in life...she bought a new road bike and I used a early 1990s mountain bike with 26” wheels and front suspension ( not a great choice). We are Aussies. Like yourself we travelled in December, it was too hot. My personal tips for this trip is 1. Don’t go in summer (Dec to March). Go in Autumn/spring or even winter( relatively mild compared to northern hemisphere winters).2.Take longer and sometimes spend 2 nights in a place for rest ( we did at Sussex Inlet, Lakes Entrance, Orbost). 3. As mentioned, try to stay off Pacific Hwy. However we did cycle south of Eden where you took the bus, but this was before Christmas and the heavy traffic then. 4. Back then, there were lots of tree logging trucks, we stopped off side of roads to let them pass. 5. Caravan park fees seem to have dramatically increased the fees, so perhaps stealth camping is an option or a cheap motel could be considered. Your accomodation stays for international cycle tourist sounds like a winner. 6. We also found Victorian country windy and stormy in December, again perhaps not go in summer. 7. The majority of Aussies are friendly and willing to help, it was a highlight for us too. 8. Be flexible in what you can do each day. 9. Buy a wide saddle, it helped me heaps.10. The best bike would be to use a modern gravel bike. All the best.
Thank you! Great list of recommendations too! That’s cool you did it back then, must have been a super adventure without Google maps to help! Yeah the highway sections are not great. Glad you made it safely! I still want to do more bike trips in Australia 😃 and potentially New Zealand
love the video , i hope to do international bikepacking trip someday too☺
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm planning my trip at the moment and wondering which company to use. Your trip looked awesome!
This randomly appeared as a RUclips suggestion and I’m glad I watched it! As a Sydneysider who’s seen a lot of the south coast it was nice to see it through your eyes. In a way it’s a shame you didn’t ride the section south from Eden but ultimately I agree you made the right choice, the road is super busy most of the year. It was fantastic you were able to share Xmas with some locals and also picked up some of our lingo along the way!
Get on the bus dude! i cycled Thailand and used the trains, bit old for all that tarmac! 🚴♀😃
I rode Through the National Park once , never went all the Way too Melbourne Tho , Verry Impressive
rite on
Thanks for taking us along on your outing. I live State side - in the Midwest. I too enjoy touring but I just do short tours - overnighted. So, you arrived w just one peddle. I think at that point I would have had what my mom called a conniption fit which is being verbally loud with physical gyrations. Anyway, that was funny how you sent your jacket home then the next day or so had to buy another - that’s a good example of Murphy’s law. Glad you were able to take advantage of some Warm Showers hosts. Yeah, you looked so tired at times. Touring is a lot of ups and downs, isn’t it. Thanks again for your vid. Om!
Don't think most Americans can fit into that "move on from bad relationships" tunnel
😂
such a great time would love to travel with you again :)
Thanks me too!
Very good first video, well done.
Great video. Really loved the journey and would love to do something like this one day. Appreciate you showing the lows as well as the highs.
Well done! We liked your video. You could contact local bike clubs and Audax and some their members can help you if you need it 👍 keep you company or give you tips or a lift if needed.
Great vid! I lived in Sydney and the south coast, just moved to Melbourne this year. I've ridden a lot of bike paths and gravel roads in your route, and never thought anyone be riding the whole way. Can totally imagine the scarcity of those highways with basically no shoulders. well done and glad you received heaps help!
