In scholarly circles, this referred to as the "politics of representation." It may be impactful in some ways but it has some serious limitations. I hope you will seek out someone in the broader tennis establishment that has a class analysis.
We don't have grass courts in the United States. Occasionally, we produce a grass champion because it's fast and we like fast play. But you'll notice, no doubt, that Americans absolutely suck on slow, soft clay.
