This was broadcast on Soul Train in 1978. Obviously it's all lip-synced. During the solos Masekela forgets to "play" at one point, which gets Alpert grinning.

From the 1983 live LP "Sublime In Time", recorded April 14, 1983. Directed by Rick Lawn. "Ten Gallon Shuffle" composed by Toshiko Akiyoshi, who was a guest artist for this concert. Soloists are Toshiko Akiyoshi on piano, Jeff Benedict on tenor sax and Paul McKee on trombone.

The second side has a few little tunes about a variety of naughty subjects. Guys usually love this while the girls - well, not so much. All in good fun.

This is a non-album track from 1988. This was the 'B' side of the "I Need You" single from Herb's "Under A Spanish Moon" album. He would record another version of this song and release it on his "Colors" album in 1999. This single also appeared on the short-lived CD3 format.

Happy memories! I still own the LP's and have acquired the digital! We did several marching band shows with Alpert themes in the days of '67 Mustangs driven to band practice. This mood elevating music brings it all back.
