i’ve commented on the video itself but one thing i think tells a lot about the parallels between the twins is a small, but important piece of clothing in marcy’s (the outgoing twin’s) closet: a bunny costume(/onesie?). this could give a glimpse into their past, as maybe a coping solution to adjust to the death of their mother. hiding from the world in a sense, to a place of comfort. darcy just couldn’t move on. hence the beginning of her deadly slope with her depression and addiction.

Personally, my take on the symbolism behind the impending end of the world and their consistent focus on tennis isn't importance placed in tennis, but in denial about armageddon. Ignoring the inevitable and pretending everything is OK by focusing on tennis. Take things like Darcy taking the drugs, and eventually realising their use as an escape instead of a means to a greater end of her mental issues (them giving her drugs in the first place is a whole other rant, but you get the idea). In the bigger scheme of things, I take it to represent just how pointless everything they're doing is. They're working so hard, and for what? To get bombed within the next 15 days? It's also accentuated by Marcy's taking the drugs and going into that same portal, legs first. She's a little more apprehensive and hesitant to just ignore it and throw away her dreams, she's in denial about it, but she eventually learns to accept it and take the escape. They both end up in the hospital, everyone's gone, they go outside, they hug, and all of a sudden it's the end of the world.
