❤ the videos wish for more and longer
And what part of these cars are Mustang or Camaro? Other than a badge?
Absolutely zero. Why? Because that's a Commodore
It's a race car. Why does it have to be the same as the road car?
Thank you Brad and Rachel, your videos are always extremely interesting. The only downside is there’s not enough of them 🥰 Best wishes from Batemans Bay, NSW.
Thanks for sharing this one. Worth watching twice.
how backwards touring car racing has gone, the massive expense building custom bodies , when we had basic road car shells with just a roll cage and different suspension pick up points ect, to this, a full custom hand built body, all hand fabricated, even the whole floor pan, the whole car, its so out of touch, not what touring, racing cars was in oz and all about , no one even cares any more, the cars and racing is so boring, follow the leader, little if any overtaking, the youth of today are not even interested, the great race ,ford and Holden is long gone, young kids are not even interested in motor racing when brand and cars mean nothing any more, another 5-10 years super-cars will be dead, it means nothing anymore to anyone, theirs no ford or Holden, just fake cars and bodies that are all the same basically and very expensive , i remember when brad starting out at the thunder dome, controlled road car shell, 308-304 holden v8, basic low cost racing, exciting to watch, vk-vl holden against ford xe ect, great days and close racing, not any more, its so boring, the 2024 bathurst, was very boring , not even a lead change after many hours of racing, sad but true, no one cares any more about touring cars supercars any more, not like years ago at school or work, who won, what car race ect, its just crappppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
I look at this differently. We are lucky that touring car racing exists at all. I admit that Gen 3 has far too many issues and its often a case of "follow the leader" as you wrote. Still it's not the worst outcome, as I expected it to disappear in 2017 when Australian manufacturing has finished, and soon after that Volvo and Nissan quit their participation.
well if is so crap, why is Toyota investing in the sport? When the sport was actually dying was back in the 90's when you had one car dominate the racing. Without the changes back then, the sport would have died.
I miss proper touring cars. They had character. And the privateers.
Its been this way since project blueprint in 2003. Racing evolves. Some fans are left behind. New ones get on board. It is how the world goes.
You talk like this is the only form of touring car racing there is. There are all sorts between full road cars and this. TCR sounds more like what you want so follow that instead if this is so terrible.
Out of curiosity, you weigh it before and after painting so how much weight does the paint generally add to the frame?
They say one tonne on a 787. That's mind blowing.
@grantleyhughes yes, thats incredible. 😮
Thx Brad, it will always be Tailem Bend to me......
Who weld that rear clip. More craters in 1 weld than the moon 😂😂😂. Thanks for the vids tho
Great Vid BJ, always good to take a look after a lot of damage.
Thank you Brad, keep these videos comming. Merry Chrismas to you ALL. Stay Safe.
I spy an AU pit stop practice car. 😊 That was there when I did my first garage tour in 2002/3.
The door looks light compared to the old metal doors.
Really enjoy these videos.
half that carbon stuff could be Ali and it wouldnt cost half as much
Thank you Brad - love every episode - Cheers
Looks expensive Brad. Thanks again for another view of your workings. Rachel does a good job on the camera.
Love how you keep it real. Come back stronger next year!
You need some better drivers at least one good experienced driver.
Jaxon is a top class driver.
Brads cars must be faulty, they keep destroying themselves every outing.
Few drivers went in at turn 8...
You're right mate, young keen Aussie drivers that are at least keen to help with the maintenance and repairs or a mechanic or tig welder better still. Then they'd have more appreciation of the race car if they had to help fix it everytime he wrecked it. Im sure that'll help him become a better driver
Great video Will the Bench seat go back in, it doesn’t look to bad.
It’ll buff out
Just a suggestion, not everybody watching knows who Jax is or how the car got into this condition. Just a small recap would benefit understanding.
I'll take the door Brad
Got to keep the sponsors happy Brad
Trackside, you mentioned a $100k repair bill. A fairly accurate figure?
Talking more like $200 K with chassis damage...
I’d love to watch hours of this stuff…..well done BJR!
Sign those broken parts, find a good charity and run an auction, plenty of people want Supercars memorabilia.
Great idea.
Not from amateur kiwis that wrecking cars
Any chance you could give us a rough idea on cost of each composite piece? Door, guard, skirt ect
At least the back seats don't look too bad...
Thanks for the videos, it’s great to hear a down to earth guy giving good explanations
Thank you, sir! What you think might be interesting is ALWAYS interesting. At least to a punter like me!
ill take the front clip as a souvenir, ill even swap you a case of beer for it... less room in your bin that way.
Are you on the border
@74_pelicans only 3 hours drive away lol.. Close enough... Actually if i get someone to drive its probably a slab trip,, better buy 2 slabs 😊😊
How does a team like this keep going with drivers that just keeping wreaking gear every race 🤔
Thank you Brad ~ appreciate every episode ~ Cheers
Brad I could see by the wall thickness that the (destroyed!) control arms are CrMo by the wall thickness. Is the main car structure and the front & rear clips also CrMo or are they CDW steel to keep costs down? Just wondering how you get on repairing if they are CrMo as it doesn't take kindly to being re-welded. Thanks for sharing.
Over the off season, is it possible you could do a suspension settings video that shows us the adjustments that can be made on the cars?
I would SO enjoy that. Not that you’d be giving away any secrets! ;)
These are great videos Brad, thanks for the insight and I hope you keep them coming. Question...What's hiding under the cover in the first part?????
Allways ghreat to see your videos Brad.
really hope next years better for you guys, seems like you could build 4 entire cars from the crash damaged parts
Definitely not a cheaper form of racing as promised....
Compared to the previous gen it is though.
Careful can’t talk negatively about Supercars how dare you
Thanks Brad.
Love these videos wish they were longer
I’ve been asking for years to do a documentary on how a car is built from go to whoa it wouldn’t be hard I watched every bit of Kelly Racing doing the Altima to Mustang build and it was cool I remember F1 had a video from the 90’s from Williams called Cutting Edge that was interesting too..
is there literally 1 good part left even on the chassis? incredible financial hit to have a written off car I am sure but gosh that thing is a mess from this brief walk through.
Just imagine how money they could save if they stopped w-nking around with unnecessary carbon fibre. They don't seem to understand that the metal chassis supplies the strength so there is no need for carbon fibre panels, just for looks and to burn money
Great video Brad.
Good luck Brad.
I’m well aware of the costs involved in materials and time in these chassis but this fully fabricated cage and clips business just seems ridiculous. I might be old school but isn’t this construction method supposed to Lower costs? It’s all too fragile in my opinion and it’s lost the huge following. Import the road car shells and build them like the old days with engines and gearboxes where they are meant to be.
Well this was a major impact. In the COTF days where you had thicker rails etc you'd push the damage into the firewall and it would all have to be cut out anyway regardless. the idea of the detachable subframes is if you have a mild impact you can chop it off and replace. This wasn't just a mild impact.
@ it sure wasn’t but that corner claimed many gen 1 cars leading up to the corner being redesigned. My point is a full bodied car could be put on a jig and pulled straight again instead of completely refabricating cages and clips. If Brock and Moffat were in a VK as a current car they would never have started on the grid next day. The front was destroyed by Moffat at Skyline in practice. It was put on a chassis bench and straightened and it looked like new. All done by Warrener and the apprentices. Unless you have multiple engineering degrees you wouldn’t be allowed near a current gen car. McConville took the right rear 1/4 and boot off the DJR car in 93 and 20 minutes later the car was circulating again. Can’t happen these days.
Shame about the cost but all those broken and deformed parts have absorbed a lot of energy
Thanks again for taking the time to share these videos Brad👍 Love the detailed look into the various processes🤗
