With them not reconning the name but having it change within thr lore happen, i can see you not changing the name if it's going to really effect your metrics. But maybe the name change helps with the new focus?

Loved your Jeopardy and Magic con video! I’d love to see what places like Level Up Games or Wasteland do for the Magic players or what the players there think make Magic cool. Definitely looking forward to the next videos It could be time to change to Courier Six MTG since that’s what you actually go by. That’s what I’d go with! If not there’s always Strix’s Haven or Naya Business Either way- proud of you and it’s been great to see you grow as a channel and creator

Changing the name of the channel is probably a good idea, would seem kind of odd to keep the name after WOTC and a lot of the community has moved past it.

I for one, will always remember it as Kaladesh. I'm happy for their internal revolution, but I'm not gonna remember my first prerelease as Avishkar Revolt. It'll be Kaladesh for me.

Im curious if this deck would run well with a self mill package. Cards like Tale of tamiyo with a higher density of proactive instant and sorcery cards seems like an interesting way to take the deck imo.

I’ve had Eris in my collection for a while, but has never thought of throwing him in any of my izzet decks or even using him as a commander. All the cards you use I use in almost all of my izzet decks and now I must build this. Thank you !

One card that ended up being a blast on this deck was Glamdring. With all those cards in the yard , it can very quickly turn eris into a lethal threat!

Love this commander, Im running all the creatures from the precon which create creature tokens when a spell, inst., sorc is played, using creature steal spells and token creater spells to overwhelm my opponents. Really fun.

I'd replace a land with Lorien Revealed, 5 drop sorcery with islandcycling for 1. Replace an island and basically it's a tap land that fills your graveyard.

Most of what you say makes sense. I expected flip cards just because of XVI. I’m somewhat expecting battles. But I wouldn’t be mad if they weren’t there. Classes are a great bet though. I do wonder if we will see partner or party.

I remember the days of "Hey, did you hear ____ got new art?" but now it seems to be "What do you mean _____ doesn't have a showcase frame with alternate art?" My big concern for standard is just the size of the card pool. I think it's going to be larger than extended was.

I think this is more of a problem of alt arts in general rather than UB specifically. You can run into similar with Pokémon with the multiple different arts. In fact I've seen some people intentionally run mismatching arts to throw off their opponets figuring out what's in discard or what they have seen.

Would love to see more Fallout characters. Have way too many decks I've built around that set 😅

I put him in my Voja deck. Just stack up the counters from elves quickly on him and then double it up. Threw in his other cards within the set that also went well with Voja

He even got indirectly buffed with the new damage assignment rules

Hey man, I had the same thing happen to me in San Diego while I was at training. Everyone doubts when you actually get drugged, and it's bs. I came to in Coronado from drinking in SD, so over the bridge and everything, and it was 4am. I believe you were drugged, just keep the drinks close from here out 🤙

For anyone that has access to a 3D-printer you should check out websites like makerworld etc. there are some really cool click wheels, counters, tokens etc. available for free there. And since all of them are easy to print and don't use a lot of material, if you have a friend with a 3D printer you can probably just ask them to print them for you. With a 0.2mm nozzle some of those prints come out better than anything I bought online.

Every set should be one of these, MTG should be a vehicle of promotion, it will make the most money. Stop making up original characters and just throw Goku on there.

You make some good points. I'm still not really onboard with the idea of UB, but this helped me reframe what actually bothers me about it. I'm a competitive player and mostly interact with the game through tournaments. There are some UBs that have been announced for properties I like, and some UBs for properties I really would rather not interact with. I'm frustrated that playing my favorite competitive deck at its best may soon require me to start slotting in cards from properties I dislike, since I can't really ignore a set that's coming to my favorite format in the same way I could ignore Commander decks for properties I didn't care about.

This feels like the result of two business men getting drunk at the same bar in Vegas, having a chat about synergizing their products, then getting off to finance talk.

I never see it as a good thing when a company feels it needs to jangle a bunch of shiny (and often highly pushed) keys to get people to buy its products. And it's one thing when it's a side set, meant for play at casual tables. It's an entirely different thing when it's being used in mainline competition sets (which is going to be a thing now). Not to mention the licensing vs reprint issue further down the line. And Magic lore has absolutely become worse over the years. But to go into detail: Ixalan is absolutely high fantasy (set in the tropics). High fantasy isn't just medieval Europe. Kamigawa (first set) is high fantasy with a Japanese setting. And somehow, despite being considered a dud of a block mechanically, Kamigawa was popular enough with the community to warrant a revisit set (one I wasn't perfectly happy with despite the original being my favorite, but it kept just enough). And if Zendikar isn't high fantasy, I don't know what is. Much of Khans can fairly easily map to parts of Dominaria. Unlike most of the recent sets (Bloomburrow excluded), which feel like a bunch of amusement park attractions. Planeswalkers didn't lose their identity when Time Spiral happened, just a lot of power. The idea and character of them remained the same. Unlike the Gatewatch saga, where their status became like that of Super Sayan in Dragonball Z. Not that it was handled with anywhere near the grace of that (or the Weatherlight Saga, it's closest in-universe match). But as far as why I care? It's the same reason the IP holder should: because it is distinct. I've seen this song and dance in the video game industry: a company tries to bring in new customers by changing a game into something it isn't, they get a short-term boost (if they're lucky) and then the bottom drops out from under them when people realize its nothing but the shiny toy. More TCGs are starting to make it past the 2-year wall, and that is not the time to become another thing just like everything else. Especially when the game is experiencing a level of power-creep which competes with even Japanese games that have legal reasons why it happens. I don't want this game to die, and I'm worried it's sacrificing the ability to survive for short-term effects. This is coming from someone who's been playing since 7th edition, who's gained many friends through this game, who's actively sought out the novels to read. I want Magic to be around long after I'm gone.

I got into Magic for the gameplay because it's a game. It's silly hearing this internet echo chamber of people saying the game is being ruined because they're adding more game to it. You want lore. Go read lore about it. The lore does not affect the gameplay. If you think the gameplay is unbearable because you can't pretend you're in an isolated fantasy world, go play D&D. It's not that complicated.
