White Background Photography Flat Lay [Tips & Lighting Setups]
This advice was key - I've dealt with clogged pumps before and opened the machine up, etc., to clean. But the idea to force liquid in with a syringe worked - I didn't have one handy so used a spray bottle with the diffusion nozzle removed. I think mostly the act of forcing the liquid/vinegar cleared the clog. Other videos just suggest to put vinegar in the tank which is probably a good idea if you are storing it for a long period of time (provided you clear it all out) or have low output, but a completely clogged pump can't draw liquid. Thanks!
Yes, only open if necessary. Interestingly my heat pump stopped working yesterday during a shoot. I’ll make a video how to replace that over the weekend 😉 by opening it up 😢
I have a question Im hoping you can answer. When I lay my video clips out on the timeline they are displayed in 1080 x 1920 and not not 1920 x 1080 as yours are. Please advise. Thanks in advance
Sure, most probably you have them set to fill the frame on import. Just select the clip and within Inspector->scaling -> select FIT. That should do it.
@@DrRave Thanks for the reply but still no luck. I have been using transform but that distorts my image
You are king. Finally, you have helped me solve the issue. I thank you so much
My pleasure
Background music over powers your narration
I didn’t realise that. Thanks for letting me know. Feel free to ask me any questions if you didn’t understand. I’ll help you out 👍🏽
Bought a used one Think this is what’s wrong with it. Will try Ty
All the best
Mine is pushing out the liquid no smoke
That’s strange. You might need to dilute the smoke liquid. Dilute a little bit and try. Also check if the tip of the machine is getting hot or not.
Hello Bro Thanks for the awesome video. I have one question: Is it possible to remove left side of right side of the playhead without ripple deleting it ?
Hey, yes, just hit backspace. It will delete without rippling. Does that work for you?
You can also try ctrl + shift + left or right bracket keys. The backspace I mentioned above deletes the selected clip after you have cut it. So for you you’re asking it’s ctrl+shift+[ left bracket - to cut and delete on left Or Ctrl+shift+] right bracket - to cut and delete on right Hope this helps.
Excellent Viveo
Thank you 🙏🏽
This totally worked. I didn’t have vinegar but just used the fog juice and syringe. Thanks!!!
That’s good to know. Glad it helped 👍🏽
I did that but my pump is still stuck and vinegar won't pump through
Is the pump making a noise, if pump is working push the syringe to push the liquid through.
THANK YOU
My pleasure
Easiest like of my life.
And I Thank you for that 😊
Unfortunately I can't find the free shortcuts anymore :(
Hi Dustin, it’s not free anymore. The link is in the RUclips video description $3
@@DrRave I saw that. Too bad. But, I do understand!
@@DustinWatts Thank you for understanding :)
What about a bubble fogger that turns on but doesnt do anything?
Sorry. No idea what that is?
Hi, I tried the syringe, and fog came out, but when I tried it normally no fog came out. What can be another possible solution?
Maybe the pump is not working. Does it pull the liquid in?
I used Apple Cider Vinegar and... I think something went wrong :(
You should use regular vinegar. I’m not sure what’s inside apple cider vinegar. Maybe sugar. Try pushing water through and then regular vinegar if the problem still exists.
My MOZA AIRCROSS S wont start, i have not been using it a month, but yesterday when i try to turn it on, it wont start. I was thinking maybe the battery low, when i started to charge, i noticed the indicator blink And yes it's not normal. Does anyone have this issue before??
Maybe the batteries are dead.
@@DrRave but indicator blinked. It wont charge the battery. Usualy the indicator did not blinked like dat. Normally just red, till it full. I have try to leave it for like 2-3hours, but still it wont turn on.
@@DrRave i need to see dat first. Looks like the batt built in to board pcb or something. It just non removeable kind.
Can you test the batteries with a multimeter? Maybe that will narrow down the issue.
how do I set it to trim to playhead (start and end), WITHOUT rippling the timeline?
I don’t think that’s possible, how would that help, it would only slow you down. You could do “W” then backspace for trim to beginning or “W” then right arrow to select that bit and then backspace key to do it manually for trim to end.
@@DrRave it would be useful if you want to do adjustments and trim clips later on in the process. and btw I just remembered it's Shift+bracket (right and left respectively). But I dunno how to set the shortcut for this function
Oh yeah! That’s the default Davinci shortcut. It’s been so long I did not use it, that I forgot. You can change it to whatever you want under preference->keyboard If you don’t know what it is called, On the virtual keyboard select the keys, shift and open or close bracket and it will display the shortcut details on the panel below and you can easily change it.
@@DrRave I'll try again this way, thanks for you feedback! cheers
worked for me! Thank you! I have a shoot in 2 days
Glad this helped 😊
How to bypass remote .I lost 😊
It does need a trigger either wired or wireless. Get a replacement wired one if you cannot find a wireless one to match. You can bypass the remote, but that will keep the machine in always on and ruin the machine. You do NOT want to bypass the remote.
now the presets are not free
It’s only $3 now.
very good video, what kind of transperancy do you prefer ? i can get anything between 3% and 70%
I don’t know the exact transparency but I just the most transparent one I can find.
❤❤❤❤❤🇮🇷👍✌️👏

Man first time some one has even gotten close to want I have been looking for coming from FCPX but I need to ask you something. Can I change Shift + A to a single e letter which seems faster like in FPCX hitting F and my Second question is, Is there an way after making all those sleets to drag them all into a separate Bin as my "elects" or favorites and the build my timeline from that Bin or folder? I cannot find anything as fast as FCPX, I rip through my selects hitting I/O F etc etc etc and then just edit off my Favorites folder from the drop down option in FCPX. Hope that makes sense but I could never find anything as fast but your are on to something here...hahaha That is the only thing that has been holding me back for years. This the first tutorial I have seen even come close. If I can drag those selects from the cut page or where ever and then drop them into a separate folder and make my timeline with just those selects from all my clips, I would be thrilled!!! Thanks!
Hi thank you for the awesome feedback. I have good news for you. Yes, in keyboard preferences you can change Shift+A to E. That will disable what E was being used for, but that’s ok if it speeds up your workflow. Within keyboard preferences, you can select E on the one hand screen keyboard and see what it is being used for and decide. Regarding the bins, it’s simpler. You can have multiple timelines open as tabs or one above the other. I use that workflow too, selects to main timeline by dragging from one to the other. One of the icons on the top left of the timeline turns on multiple timelines, just click that and open multiple timelines like selects, final and more if you need. Then drag and drop what you need. It’s super fast this way. Let me know if you have more questions.
@@DrRave Hey thanks for your response. 2 Questions, What time is Shift + A under so I can change it? What is it called so I can search for it or what menu is it under in the keyboard customization menu? And I know about your double timeline from selects but for me it is too awkward because with all my selects the time line would be too long and scrolling through the timeline to pull down the clip I might need is kind of a Pain, I would rather make a timeline with all my selects like you did In the video but then drag all those selects to a folder or bin and then choose my elects from that folder, seems much easier and organize just like I do in FCPX. IS that possible? And that brings me to another question if you have time. Anyway of seeing , like fcpx as well, which clips are already in use in a timeline either from a bin or on my timeline. Also like FCPX does by putting a yellow border on the clips or like a zebra type mark on the clip in the timeline that is in more than one spot on the time line? Sorry for all the messages but you are the only one I have seen making sense on how to do things in Davinci.
@@ekphotography SHIFT-A is Append clip. Easy way to see what it is set as is to use the virtual keyboard and select shift and A, it will show the shortcut settings. I haven't tried the darg to Bin like FCPX, let me know if it works for you. To see which clip is in use, there is a red line at the bottom of the thumbnail for the portion that is used in that particular timeline. You can also enable the feature to show which clip you have selected (within timeline) inside the media pool. This works even if you have clips inside different bins, it just opens that bin in the media pool and shows the clip. Go to Preferences>User>Editing and turn on - Always highlight current clip in the media pool. That should solve your problem 😉
@@DrRave Thanks, I finally just Put P as append to end since it is right next to the I/O so I can hit I/O P and no extra shift or anything needed which was kind of what I was looking for. Thanks for always responding..
@@ekphotography My pleasure
Any way of making a keystroke to automatic reduce speed to 40% ??? Please tell me there is, I hate haveing to right click, click retime and choosing some no normal % or dragging out my clip to 40%. I cannot believe this is not an option, specially when the proper % to slow down 60p clips is 40% and not the options like 50% in that drop down.. WTH? And how about removing all attributes from a Clip like in FCPX Shift command X? And in FCPX if I option click a whole category Like color or transform it select all this attributes I want. Not having to individually click each box in a section. Is that possible? Thanks!!
2 ways to do this: So if you’re using my shortcuts, on the timeline clip you can click Ctrl+R or CMD+R to open retime controls, select 40% and check ripple timeline. Then you can copy this and Alt+V to paste on all other clips after selecting them. There is a faster way to do this before you put the clips on the timeline. This is my way of doing it - before I put the clips in my timeline, I select all my 60p clips inside the media pool, right click and select clip attributes and change the frame rate to 23.976 right there. This will interpret the footage to 23,976 just like FCPX. And now you make your selects and drag them to the timeline. To remove attributes use the shortcut CTRL+Shift+X and then select the attributes you want to remove, including color grade, position, zoom, etc. There is a button on top right of the viewer to turn off the color effects but no button to remove it. You would need to right click on the color page and reset grade to remove everything color. Hope this helps.
I can buy some 18650 buttons with 3,400mah from a local battery store today…do you think it will work?
You’ll have to try. Make sure you can return them if they don’t. I’ve had success with 5000mah and higher only.
that's a time saving and free version feature, how ever when you have 4-5 videos stacked and you need to edit lower track , by some reason , do not forget to turn of auto track selection button = [<>] in side panel of 'other' tracks .. other wise it selects top most track always .. ENJOY..
Nice tip
I will try it soon 😮
Go for it and let me know how it went.
@@DrRave I’m from Lagos, Nigeria and I was this close in sending my Machine for repair until I came across this video. I hope it works 🥵
I hope it works 👍🏽
so the r5 does power on & record with usbc? I'm hearing mixed answers that it only works with dummy battery & dtap. I am in the process of building this exact rig.
I’ve used USB C to power the R5 with a V-mount and even a battery pack. You do need its battery inside. I haven’t tried it without the battery (not dummy). It’ll use the power supply when usb is plugged in and switch to battery when you unplug the usb without interruption. So go for it 👍🏽
How many watts have you used from the AD400 to take this photo? Probably not full power
It’s quite close to the cone so probably 1/32 or 1/64. You don’t need a lot of power when the cone is small.
I'm leaving Adobe and edit on DaVinci was a nightmare. Your tip saved my life. Thank you, man.
That’s awesome. Thank you ☺️ I’m adding a whole bunch of new Davinci tips to RUclips shorts in the next few days. Don’t forget to subscribe 😉
Thabk you so much for this. This was one of the easiest to follow, and simply explained videos on a C-Stand. I will never forget the setup cause of you! Cheers
I’m so glad it helped 👍🏽
Good but I would flip the keylight to the other side, because your bulbs would be opposite side of your key and the your rim light from the tube would give a better effect
You’re absolutely correct. I usually do keep the key light on the other side. For this tutorial I had to keep it on this side as we progressed from window light to window motivated and then finally closing the curtains. It would have looked jarring if I had flipped the key after closing the curtains. I’m so glad you noticed it. Kudos.
You look pretty cool man

your mic is no good
Yes. It’s a cheap Lav, but for a start it’s better than the on-camera audio. Do watch the next video I upload, audio will be from the mkh-600. This video was about getting things done on a budget.
Great film making skills in this video! Solid
Thank you. Follow the steps and you can do it too 👍🏽

Zeus, it’s a pleasure having you at the studio learning and helping out. Lots more to do, let’s get back at it.
Excellent video, very important points you’ve covered here.
Thanks 🙏🏽
Are you using a pro mist filter on your main camera? I kept cleaning my screen thinking I had something making it blurry😂. Great vid
Haha. Most probably yes, I’ve had 1/4 promist on both my cameras and forget to remove it even when shooting stills. LOL.
Awesome. What do u think about a more crowded background?
It’s a matter of choice and the aesthetic you prefer. Most people would prefer minimalist.
Awesome! Love the look of the studio! Your looks are not bad either! Consider going blonde for real!
Sure. I’ll be blonde in the next video. LOL
perfect bro
Glad it helped 👊🏽
whats the round thing you glued it on?
It’s just some white cardboard cutout so it’s steady and I can hold it in a horizontal position as you see at the end of the video. If the rings are not there, you can only use the cone in a top down position like all the commercial ones available.
I was waiting soo long for this banger
Glad you like it 😊
I love you man!!
Love you back 😉
You forgot the how-to part.
This was a short, how to with the video and description. Would you like to see a full tutorial?

Did it work?
Hey I tried this and when I went to do it with the normal fog liquid it still didn't work
Did it work with Vinegar? If not then there’s could be some other problem instead of the blockage
I did this until fog came out with the vinegar, but the pump wouldn't run turned out to be a fuse.
Glad you figured it out 👍🏽
