Neil did a good job deflecting all the "DO THE THING" questions, if you can call them questions. They're just so fucking exhausting.
Thank you for capturing the panel Bri! Meeting Neil at this convention was such a lovely experience! At 32:07 you'll notice he catches my eye and proceeds to make time for me and another person to ask our questions. Super thankful that he did so! <3 Not only is he a talent but an incredible & insightful person and I'm glad BG3 allowed for even more people to recognize and appreciate his work
Meeting Neil at Fan Expo Philly was nothing short of an epiphany. I stood in line for 3 hours... But as I did, I watched how graceful he was with fans. How humble. How kind. I'm an artist, and my career is still evolving. But as I watched him interact with everyone while I was in line, I thought, "Say you one day have a career that can have a large impact.... How will you handle this overwhelming but positive opportunity? Who will you be?" And I meditated on that question... And I thought, "I would be as gracious and humble as he is in this moment... In all of these moments I'm seeing before me." And that is when it hit me. I realized that what was missing from my own life is that I am in a job and situation that does not allow me to help, to share what I know, what I've experienced... In a way that makes a difference. It doesn't align with who I am as a person, and what I aspired to be when I was 8, which was to be an artist, and to really live that fully. I am watching my life pass by instead. The very next day I emailed a bunch of arts organizations and applied to a bunch of different shows... Dusted off some incomplete paintings, and focused on what I want in my life, not the boxes people have tried to put me in... Not the boxes I've felt forced to step in. I am just as grateful for meeting Neil as I am for standing in that 3 hour line to witness with my own eyes that masterclass in humility, graciousness, and living in the moment. Thank you, Neil. That day was a peak life experience that I will never forget.
I have worked his line at a con before, 22 hours over 3 days. He was that way with literally everyone and asked every person if they minded if he put his arm around them. It was a privilege to witness
@@itsarubiks I would love to have the opportunity to do that. I don't even know how you get to be one of his helpers at the table, but man what a privilege it would be.
@@TaniaPomalesArtyou will have more luck at smaller cons (I wouldn't recommend working a Fan Expo, they are the amazon of conventions I worked Philly and they worked me to the point of puking and shamed me into finishing my shift). Sign up to volunteer at a con. You can request to work with certain people/certain rolea but it isn't a guaruntee. Generally you will have 2 shifts of 4.5 hours or so and it gets you in the rest of the weekend free. When I worked Neil's line in Phoenix I ended up being "stuck" working his line the whole weekend. He felt bad and forced me to stop helping to enjoy the last hour of the con. He gave me the name Goose (I'm a Goostarion cosplayer) and he remembered me when I saw him again in Philly. If you ask at Fan Expo it is pretty much a guaruntee you won't be placed with them.
