I am part of a women's book club in Norfolk, VA. This coming Wednesday we will be discussing our 'August Book', A Place at the Table by Susan Rebecca White. This video will be just one way that we can get a little closer to knowing Edna. Thank You.

Great work Debra Freeman! Respect to you for shining a light on Edna Lewis who shaped American and Virginia food but didn't get as much credit and recognition as she should. To illuminate those that should be more known in our countries culinary landscape and history is often a central theme in your work. It's good to see you yourself starting to get the recognition you deserve as you work tirelessly to garner it for those that came before you.

Deb, your everlasting smile comes through in your voice; you narrate with such joy with an excitement of anticipation that captures the spirit of a child on Christmas morning. ! The camera work is superb in this episode. Chef Leah's journey in rediscovering Edna Lewis' legacy in cooking is a story that needed to be told. And watching your face blossom as you savor that first bite of quail with country ham as it unfolds in your mouth is a story in itself. Beautifully done all around!

I really enjoyed this❣There is an awesome children's picture book published last year about Edna Lewis. The title is "Chef Edna: Queen of Southern Cooking, Edna Lewis" by Melvina Noel and award-winning artist Cozbi A. Cabrera.
