I know a part of why Alan hated AJ was because he thought for a time that Rick Webber was his father and not him. The other part he ruined Jason's life with the accident. In his eyes at least. The only time I ever saw Alan have regret about the way he treated AJ was after everyone thought he was dead in 2005.
