@@EwePeople Thanks for the heads up! 😊
That was a lot of detailed work for the footing of the garage. It's good you have a small garage for storage and work shop. Hopefully you'll be able to pour concrete on the entire floor to make it even more useable. It's very neat & tidy.
It was a lot of work! I know~ it would be great to be able to pour concrete on the entire floor. We're hoping to get to that in the future! It's really nice to have an organized garage! 😊
✨ What are your thoughts of putting "lipstick on the pig" when it comes to renovations? ✨ Are you working on any projects around your home? What are they?
Well this was a variety of things, a little of this and a little of that. Thought we'd see the door go on the garage, since it was mentioned. I do like the large swing gates to access the garden and keep out critters. And....no thanks on the snow & cold!
Yea~ we had a lot of different projects going on in this video! We'll share the install of the side garage door soon. It turned out so great! And we also love the garden cages!
✨ How is the winter weather where you are living? ✨ Are you working on any projects to prepare for the spring season coming up?
✨ What are the best ways you organize your pantry cabinets? ✨ Do you have any special New Year's traditions or foods you eat?
I was excited to see more of the vintage built-Ins. They look good on the wall and moving the doors to the center, great decision. The cabinets provide so much storage and takes up very little floor space. The bottom cabinets, you could put another shelf in there for additional storage. By moving the doors to the center, it provided so much more wall space in each bedroom, such a good plan. The inside, backs of the cabinets - you could use the 8' x 4' sheets of bead board or.....you could get creative and wall paper the backs; not directly on the sheet rock, wall paper poster board cut to fit so it can be easily removed if you change your mind or want to change the look. I have built in book shelves around my window seat; I bought scrap book paper and just taped to the backs, they fit without too much trimming and looks really good. I choose a paper that looks like vintage book print, just a couple of ideas. The view of the cabinets, from the LR, doing New Years Soup, is a great shot of the entire wall and how cool they look. I like the green trim around the windows, exterior, just enough color! Yes, yes, yes, I am a fan of insulating interior walls, great sound barrier, especially for bedrooms and baths. Also - I'm still voting for removing the door between the bedroom and bathroom, it would provide more floor and wall space for each room. It's not that much farther from the bedroom, to enter the bath from the laundry room. Note - (I comment as I'm watching, so I don't forget anything!) ha ha ha.... So...what did you name your little squirrel buddy?
Thanks~ we are really loving the built-ins! How they look and function for our small space. Your built-in book shelves sound lovely and always enjoy the vintage touch! It's amazing how sound proof the rooms are now with all that insulation. We have to yell sometimes to hear each other when we're in different rooms LOL! Guess I should figure out a name for that squirrel haha! 🐿👩🏻🌾 Appreciate your comments, observations, and feedback always! 😊
@JourneyDownTheRoad - I love your little cottage and your improvements to make it your own. So far, the cabinets are my favorite!
They didn't have philip head screws back then.
Yes~ you are right! That's why we purchased slotted head screws and worked to patina them ourselves. Looks like they were cut off in the short. Thanks for stopping by!~ 😊
Love the wall of cabinets - they look really good. A longer span for viewing them would have been nice. I'll go back and freeze the frame and have a better look. I like how they're close to symmetrical. They don't take up a lot of floor space but provide tons of much needed storage. Very nicely done! Maybe a tour of the cabinets and how they're being used in an upcoming video. Moving the bedroom doors toward the center makes much more sense and looks good, better traffic flow also. Nice tip on the aging of screws, seems to have worked well. Porch - looks really good. I agree with the paint, white will get dirty real fast and be a constant issue of maintenance. I think painting it the same as the trim around the windows would look nice. Paint Tripods - good when painting doors, allows you to paint both sides at the same time. Paint one side, then flip it over for the other, balanced on the tripods; saves a lot of time. This link is for Home Depot but they sell them on Amazon and Lowes also. www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-Painter-s-Tripods-10-Pack-PT10-HDX/206509477
Wish you would show the results more.
Yes - I said the same thing. Also a tour of the interiors and how they're being utilized, because we're curious.
We plan to share more in our upcoming videos! Appreciate the feedback! 😊
@@lindaroyal8161 Yes~ thanks for the reminder! 😊 We will share how we are using the built-ins and what we store in them soon!
✨ Would you ever consider building handmade built-ins for your home? ✨ What projects have you worked on with reclaimed or salvaged wood?
Just keeps looking better every week. Very nice!
Thank you! 😊
Wow - covered a lot in the video. I really, really like the doors, couldn't be more perfect for the TV Cabinet and the Kitchen Cabinets. And.....can we talk hinges? Those are pretty cool, they work perfectly for the units you're building. Suggestion - There's a product called "Rub 'n Buff", comes in many different metal colors and shades. I've seen other Tubers use it to finish light fixtures and other vintages pieces to match their project/style. The LR wall and Kitchen wall units are so perfect for your little house, they don't take up that much space and provide a ton of storage. Nicely done!
Yea~ the reclaimed beadboard cabinet doors are an absolute gem!💎 I didn't even know about antique hinges before~ they are so nice! We really are so happy with how the built-ins turned out! 😊 Always appreciate your comments!
Looks awesome! I am looking forward to seeing the finished product!
Thanks so much! Glad to have you here!

It’s looking so nice! Good job.

Thank you!! 😊
I think it was a good decision to move the doors over for more wall space in the LR & Kit. I really like the built in shelves and cupboards around the TV area and what will be kitchen cabinets. My personal preference, I would have centered the TV in that area, I just like thinks centered. Also, in the bedroom - another personal preference, I would remove the door between the bedroom and the bathroom. I'd only have one door to the bathroom from the laundry room. It would provide more wall space for both the bedroom and the bathroom and make the rooms feel larger. The house is small enough, not that many extra feet to go from the bedroom to the bathroom by way of the laundry room. I'm anxious to see the shelf units completed. It was nice to see a bit longer video this week. TY
Thank you! We didn't end up centering the TV in the built-in as it's centered with the couch and so the front door will not block the TV when it's open as well. It will probably make more sense when we show more of the finished build! We have also been discussing that second door to the bathroom and haven't decided yet~ appreciate your thoughts. Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
@@JourneyDownTheRoad - Good call on not blocking the TV with the front door. Yes, get rid of the 2nd door to the bathroom, it will give you more wall and floor space in both rooms.
Love following your house journey
Awe~ Thank you and so glad you are! 🤗
✨ Have you ever tackled handmade built-ins yourself? How did it turn out? ✨ Is it worth it to use reclaimed wood? Or just to buy new wood?
Great teamwork. There is some quote about adding to ideas as you are building.....only I can't remember it. Basically if you don't make changes...you don't end up with the best outcome. Sort of when you sit down with apple pie and you forgot to add the ice cream so you get back up. Dessert and house camping have a lot in common.
Thank you! And~ great analogy! 😊 Appreciate you stopping by to leave a comment!
It's a great idea to swap the door and TV spaces, makes so much more sense. Wish you would have shown more of the build of this project.
It does make much more sense~ yet took us like forever to figure it out! I know~ wish we would've captured more of the footage too. More actual build footage coming up though~ trying to get better at turning the camera on while we're actually working! 😊
✨ Are there any areas of your house that you find are not very functional? ✨ What have you done to create more functionality in your home?
Good video, con todos esos animalitos, las Flores y fruits, Todo quedo muy bonito,🙏🌹😊
Thank you so much! Appreciate your comment! Gracias! 😊
The post is probably 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 even that hey call it a 4” by 4”. The hand rail is definitely not six. It’s 1 1/2 by 5 1/2. And on the deck you should gap the planks. The thickness of a framing square is the perfect gap. Not that you didn’t do a great job. Also anything structural use nails not screws. Screws will break from setting and moving with the structure over time. Hence the joist for a deck. But when you said the rail was 6”. I figured I could kill 30 seconds and maybe save you 30 hours.
Thanks for the info and taking the time to comment! 😊
The porch looks really nice, new & clean. Nice to have a good walkway also. Nicely done!
Thank you! 😊 It really turned out so great~ we love it!
✨ Do you have a front porch? They are common in our heritage district. ✨ Have you ever taken on a custom built project? How did it turn out?

Thank you and welcome! 😊
You guys are killing it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haha~ Thanks! 😊🙏🏼
Crazy - one scene has snow & ice and the end of he video shorts and flip flops. I hate the cold, gulf coast of Florida, we're supposed to have mid to high 30's tonight plus wind chill, coldest night so far for us. The LR wall is going to look really nice, I like the shiplap look, works well with your cottage.
Haha~ we combined a few seasons into one video so we can move through some of our projects a bit faster!😊 It's was so great to finally use all the shiplap that was restored in our cottage! We love it 🥰
✨ Do you have shiplap (old or new) installed anywhere in your house? ✨ What do you think about gutters not being installed on older heritage homes?
That’s gonna be his space and he’s excited to go hangout by himself or he’s excited for her to go hangout by herself.
Haha~ that could be true! 😊
Nice shed, really nice shed! It not only looks good but will be such a functional addition to your property. I like how you went the extra steps to paint the floor and address areas. All the shelves for storage will be great to have. Suggestion - maybe look into an inexpensive alarm system - I know "Simply Safe" runs specials pretty often. My shed - I purchased in 2014, it was pre-built, it included delivery, set up with tie downs, required for Florida. It has a front porch across the front, so it looks like a little cottage more than a shed. I'm unable to build one and was too expensive to hire the labor plus supplies, so pre-built was the cheaper way for me.
Thanks~ we love the shed! It sure has been a great addition and very useful. Nate is all about the details so he always seems to take those extra steps! Oh, how wonderful to have a front porch across the front of your shed! I'm sure it's beautiful!
✨ Have you ever attempted to build a storage shed on your own in your backyard? How did it turn out? ✨ Would you be willing to put in the work to salvage old gem shiplap to reuse? Or just buy new wood?
Score on the salvaged shiplap, it will look nice in your house. The pizza looked delicious! And the end, the large white things getting removed from the truck, no explanation - what are they? TY
@@lindaroyal8161 Yea~ the shiplap was a gem we were able to salvage! It was also so awesome to top our pizza with ingredients from the garden! Stay tuned for our video next week where we share what was delivered and the next project.
✨ What are you thankful for in your garden this Fall? (BTW~ Fall is the best time to garden here in Texas!) ✨ What do you think about salvaged wood? A pain to restore or a treasure to hold?!
직접 집을 고치다니 대단해요😊
@@unnamed000 감사합니다 ☺️~^^
The house looks good painted, I like it. I like the darker gray on the porch, adds some detail and won't show the dirt as much.
Thanks! Yea~ we love the creamy Shoji White we chose! And stay tuned to see how we transformed the front porch even more 😊

Thanks for the heads up! I did receive 3 comments from you so maybe they all did eventually come through!
Mulberry - I had a clump of mulberry trees, back yard, next to the patio. They actually provided shade for the patio from the afternoon sun. My area was hit with back to back Hurricanes a month ago. A huge oak tree fell down and wiped out my clump of mulberries, only left one standing. Very sad to have lost them. Luckily the tree missed my house and shed. I'm in eastern Pasco County, Florida, inland from the gulf coast. My area got hit pretty hard, flooding where there was never flooding before. Many mature trees down, several with all the roots. I feel so bad for all the folks in N.C. that lost so much and still trying to clean up and straighten out their area. That little porch table is pretty cool, need one for each side so you each have one! And yes, great idea to move the doors and have more wall space for the LR & Kit.
Yea~ the storms in NC and FL seemed awful! Glad you are safe and your house too. What a bummer you lost your mulberry trees! Oh and Nate actually did build two porch tables~ one for each of us! We also like the idea of moving the doors~ have to get creative in such a small space 😊
Mulberries - I had a clump of mulberry trees off to one end of my patio. They actually shaded my patio from the afternoon sun. With the recent hurricanes that went through, lost all of them except one, still stands. A huge oak tree feel down, through my yard and wiped out the clump of mulberries. So upsetting to have lost them. I am so very grateful that the tree did not fall on my house or shed. It still needs to be cut up and cleared out, tree guys are very backed up with all the damage this area had. I'm in eastern Pasco County, Florida inland from the gulf coast.
I'm glad the tree didn't fall on your house too! Glad you also have one mulberry tree still standing as well! 😊🌳
✨ Do you have mulberries in your area? How do you like them? ✨ Do you garden in the fall? What crops are you growing?
The garden is nice, coming along. I like how you guys patch and fix a section at a time, every little bit adds to the end result!
