I think this song, especially, shows the genius of Ed Sheeran, songwriter. He seems to know what he is able to do as I heard him NOT bragging about the many chords needed. It's just 4 chords, he keeps repeating. It's not even four, here, two suffice, to me. It may even be just one: C major. As simple as it gets. What a great song he is able to make on such basis ICorrect me if I am wrong - it's C minor and A minor. The note the melody focuses on isn't the C, it's the E. This reminded me of a textbook on jazz chords, where the authors says the number 3 note is the last one you give up in non-identifying the chord you play. The melody, right at the start, stays and lingers on the E note, twice, then goes down - to C. C is the 3 of the Aminor, and I am intrigued by banality: the 1 of C major is the 3 of the A minor. Just like E to C major, the C is 3 to A minor, where A minor is the diatonic "related" minor. I never get it right: How can a key that shares all the notes with the other be named its "related". To me, it's "parallel". I hereby decide to see the relationship in the 3rd note: the 3 of A minor ("identifier") reoates A minor to C major (C the "basis"). Even more interestingly, the high note in the beginning is the G - it's not an A, basis to A minor. So what I learned to see in the 6, the quint of the A major, the G in C major, is the leading not to its minor. So, if I place the 7, the leading note, in the middle, only not omitting the F in a C hord might allow to see the G note as a leading note to A minor, conversely, you play the F note if you want the G as a basis of the quint, the G major. As a thesis: there is no qint (G chord in that case) when there is no F), there is A minor only if there is G. That's bold assuming that's easy to falsify. Go ahead!

Why is that song in slow motion? I feel deceived by not knowing how sad a song this very popular is. I never heard the "Kalte Winde bließen"- part before, though. No ballroom blitz° Two phrases of the melody sound like some Christmas songs of that time, to me, 0:49 reminds me "Ihr Kinderlein kommet".

In some intriguing way it sounds unambiguous in the ending. How come? Take the G chord, for instance, it goes 1 - 2 -1- 7 - 5. There is a bright cadence from up to down that confirms this, e.g., G key. Thus, the D major should be just too clearly be defined as dominant (where it could be - "in one way" - be the other way round: G major could be the sub-dominant to D major. Maybe the ambivalence that this very successful song needed was in the singing teamed, tempered up in not lowering the voice from 7 to 7 flat which according to textbook knowledge would "lay down" the F (instead of F#) as the 4 of a tonic C major, G being the dominant in such sonic scenario. Insisting on that 7 which by the way is lower to 1, e.g., of g seems to exclude C as IV to D which is V. "How is the weather?"

Merkel is like a 6-letter acronym for "Merknal". Like any note, one Merkel (property) never has only one "meaning". It may be mean to b exclude specific notes. Out of 12, however, to exclude 6 is half of it and a third of all at the same time. There are no majorities, there are majors and minors.

Answer: I guess Dua Lipa didn't feel like sampling herself, as there is a riff that is known from some other, very popular song (that I do not recall, hence - that same riff fits in so well in here that you cannot recall any other surrounding sound), That riff goes: b-b -f'# f# - dd -bb then bb - ee - c#c# a. For those into theory: Slowly noting down the b note seems shared by what is upper an lower line, where the whole lines start on that said B but ends on the A. Thus, my guess is that it is about a B chord modulated to a A chord - which, with little knowledge presumably is V to IV or II to I, the latter would result in A being the key of the song, whereas if b were V and a were IV the key would be E. My bet is that the song's key is E major, it's a beginner's infatuation, on E-street. Please correct and advise. Edit: I fingered along on the keyboard, in fact, the E major turned out wrong, as - what it the "leader", the 7, seems to be utmost excluded, the D#. That very D#, at the same time, precludes B major (from textbook know--how a promising II), and calls in B minor, which might be the relative minor of D major. If it were D major that's were meant by B minor, D major could be the IV, the subdominant to A major. Then, A major should be key of song. Quite generally, what I learn here is to look at II as the relative minor of the IV. "The" four topped by the key (IV is topped by the I, quint apart, conversely the quart is to be back, it might be again and again...). And a gain, this edit's result is: A major is key. From this I learn that there is "one directiion" in the circle of 5th - "and I wonder" if a leap of one octave (in the melody) would NOT turn around this one direction (there may be strong correlations to a famous boy-group, but even stronger to what's called, n German, higher mathematics) but change the song's key, or, or, just the opposite, confirms it, because and if the octavized note is 4 or 5 to the key that is presumably key of song. I was very impressed by the sunglasses short that didn't show the stadium audience in the beginning. To name the singer because, once again, he turned out unique.
