The Human Factor - World Science Fiction Convention
This documentary still feels gently mocking; parts of it make me grind my teeth. And who is that gauche young man centre-frame (albeit in the background) at 16:00?
Ace❤ Sophie Alfred❤
It's terrific to see both the 3rd Doctor and the 7th Doctor together! I believe this is their only appearance together in costume!!
I would have loved if for the 25th anniversary we had gotten Jon Pertwee back, with a dynamic between Pertwee and McCoy
Well loved until Turdy Davies and Ncunti Gaytwat ruined it.
That was sweet of Sophie Aldred to reference and agree with what the superfan wearing the Tom Baker scarf had said previously. You could tell from his beaming smile that that made his year.
Little did they know that there would be no Doctor Who in a year's time from this!
2:12 We meet again, Doctor.

Ok "Who" else expected the two doctors to come out of the Tradis Fighting Each who gets to go out first 😂
It’s always intrigued me how the public perception of various monsters has changed between the classic era and the modern era. It seems like back then the master was seen as an integral part of the show and the Ice Warriors were seen as being on the same level as the Daleks and Cybermen
A real shame we never got a multi Doctor story with McCoy. Seeing them both fighting to get out the tardis was nice to see.
Great to see this ❤
Oly Beddard , you like to laugh at people dying of cancer alone ? Well, I curse you to suffer the same fate 😊
Imagine Classic Doctor Who never ended & we got a McCoy & Pertwee episode in the early 90s.
21:43 Loving the Legend re-enactment of that movie's banquet scene.
I just hate this presenter, lazy and mediocre
Haha, looks like the Doc was right. Edmonds was indeed still working for the BBC in 2014.
The Tardis wobbled a bit 🤣
The best crossover ever, Red Dwarf and Doctor Who 😁
He usually says “What?” at the end of each episode, but I remember at the end of one episode, instead he cackles like Fred The Baddy.
It just shows how different departments of the Beeb dealt with DW in the late '80's, and then during the Wilderness years, even if it was BBC Pebble Mill, you would hope that if someone told the prop people, we are going to have the Tardis in the studio, the sound and graphics teams would say, yeah no probs, we will make it appear and disappear just like in the show and we'll have a split screen to sell the illusion, but then what do they do, leave quietly and the light didn't flash, and she's popping her head out the door as it fades away, talk about ruining the suspension of disbelief. I can't help but recall the first three tapes in the Years series, Hartnell hosted by Sylvester, who appears Tardis like then Troughton and Pertwee hosted by Jon, also landing like a Tardis, I can see why they didn't for Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Daleks and Cybermen the Early Years, as it would be a bit odd, but for a short time, it was a little bit of fun and a handy transition from the theme music too. Shows like Daytime or Open Air look like they just weren't going to play along.
I just love that terrible, abrupt visual effect at the end when she says bye. 😂
Jon Pertwee was one of the coolest people to ever live 😎
The host is empty-headed and most definitely annoyingly patronizing.
Love how Pertwee really hated the Daleks
I met Jon Pertwee in 1993 and Sylvester McCoy in 2013.
We need more sci fi promotion to kids
Sylvester mcocoy is my sixth favourite doctor who and ace is my third favourite doctor who companie I have got time and the Rani and remembers of the daleks and the greatest show in the galaxy and the happiness portal on dvd
What year was this
Jon pertwee is my second favourite doctor who I have shepherd from space on dvd and infrono on dvd and death to the daleks and terror of the alutons and I have invasion of the dinosaurs and planet of the spiders
Great video. I remember watching it when it was first broadcast. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for this - the footage of the masquerade is all that exists in good quality.
2:14 - so relieved when it was a Cyberman that could "fix it" , I was dreading something far more sinister would have come out the TARDIS ifywim....
Watch it in the mid 80s Couldn’t pick a better actor lol
When it shows jon petwee it’s black and white because they only colourised that episode recently
8:30 Jon's famous dislike of the Daleks coming out.
I’m so glad Kathy mentioned being in panto with George Takei. It was December 1987 to January 1988. It was Aladdin at The Hexagon in Reading and I was there, the day after Boxing Day. Frankie Howerd was to play the Genie Of The Ring and Kathy Staff was Widow Twankey. There was supposed to be a bit of comedy romance with the two. Frankie had to cancel in order to have an operation on his legs, so George Takei stood in. He was very good but he clearly had little time to prepare and seemed a little bit out of his comfort zone with panto. He had to sing a duet with Kathy - You’re My Little Coochie Face, which I think would have worked better with Howerd. I felt so sorry for Takei as they’d inserted a new bit where Keith Chegwin got Takei and the audience to sing Star Trekkin by The Firm, and Takei clearly hadn’t a clue what the bloody hell was happening - it was a bit cringeworthy. Other notables were Christopher Greener, at the time Britain’s tallest man, as the genie of the lamp, Shreela Ghosh from Eastenders, Keith Chegwin as Wishee Washee and Hilary O’Neil as Aladdin. Keith Chegwin ran around the audience with a soda siphon and sprayed my best trousers with water. It really annoyed me. We all got tickets just to see Frankie Howerd really. It was a shame he had to cancel but, all things considered, George Takei did a good job at the last minute, and I was a big Star Trek fan at the time. I was only ten but I remember it so clearly to this day.
Who is the lady presenter? I remember Mike Morris
Good gentlemen
Jon actually looks younger 20 years ON from playing the Doctor.
Announcer: Andrea Mcdowell
I agree with Sophie, as getting to work on DR WHO (SURVIVAL) 1989, was amazing, I loved working with her & Sylvester, Julian Holloway, Anthony Ainley, Will Barton , Lisa Bowerman, and others in the cast, and a great crew, it is such an iconic Series, I watched since the mid 60's, and it is as Sophie said, hard to believe we are a part of it's history, I have worked on lots of TV & Film Productions over many years, but Dr WHO will always be one of my personal favourite Acting jobs.
What were you in Survival?
Awesome!
@@mr.randomguys7629 Just seen your question, I played one of the Defence Lads, (Purple Baseball Cap, Light Grey sweatshirt)
@@Cortinaman63Survival was the final story of the original doctor who. Glad I've got all the classic stories on DVD
THis is INSULTING!!! The 3rd Doctor deserves MUCH MORE! >:(
any one got the full version of this playscholl episode from 1968 if they do couldthey please upload it
I think this particular program survives, but I don't know if it's been uploaded yet. All I know is that it's one of the first colour broadcasts from 1968, and the presenters were Carole Ward, one of the original presenters from the early days, and Lionel Morton, who I think was just a newcomer at this point in time.
Wonder what those fans doing now?
I'm still here! 🙂 Still running The Whonatics (now on facebook), and helping run the Type 40 podcast here on RUclips.
Did that guy actually say "I shall be appearing through the hole in my trousers"?
Great Ghu we all look so young!
Wow! Looking at fellow fans and some pros (yes, I was there) 35 years later is great!
OMG - that's me in the Max Headroom mask @20:42 made by Sue Moore, who is sitting next to me with her alien puppet character.
