For another perspective that's a bit more technical, I recommend Jaron Lanier's *Data Dignity.*

I think an important point to take from this is so, perhaps I might be wrong, but here it goes: " __Most problems are caused by a lack of compensation, rather than because one is vain enough to cause such problems__ " Everything has an interplay, in this theory politics he suggests. Therefore, integration is a viable factor for solving such problems in our current society. Saying that an entity is vain enough to leave such problems be or to allow such a thing to persist tends to be *_a superficial excuse_* , as picking one side over the other side tends towards a holistically lackluster resolve, hence we are here. I derived this notion from the concepts of *The shadow* by Carl Jung. I believe that our beings are reflections of the greater, gilded age that we have come upon. I believe that our family structures are reflections of our conundrum hitherto (in otherwards, that the family unit mirrors the greater, gilded age that we have found ourselves in). It's a stretch, but Carl Jung suggests that we make the best of our potential as humans when we try to be open about the deepest parts of ourselves that we try to hide, just as I think we should be open about finding ways to solve our situation by acknowledging how different aspects of our lives intertwine to create something that is a whole, and if that whole is fractured, where the whole (ourselves > family unit > society) is greater than its parts (us), the parts will perish in cataclysmic fashion. Let's see what this small RUclipsr has to say, is all. I think he's making a point. (We should seek to integrate things into one another, not making more or [perhaps] less of a thing to solve another thing. When we integrate, we proliferate. When the solution is "all of the solutions", we create a whole that is greater than its parts, which is the solution in itself.) Any thoughts? Comments? Please and thank you. *P.S.* (I edited this 5 times in one sitting lol)

Braden, first, thank you for sharing and being vulnerable. It takes courage. The true originator of Archetypes, was Carl Jung. Batman does satisfy two major Jungian Archetypes simultaneously: 1. the Hero, and 2. the Caregiver. That combination is not unique to him among superheroes. I think you are 100% correct in that what makes him unique is that the catalyst of his development into the Hero and Caregiver is his suffering. Instead of breaking him, it gives him a passion, drive, and EMPATHY that IS a unique quality among superheroes and humans at large. Also, what is wise is that he has embraced his pain and made it part of his strength rather than seeing his pain as a weakness.

People this attractive shouldn't care about politics. Did you say you are 27? You have the idealism and optimism of an 18 year old after their first year in political science. Maybe that's because of you looks or you are really that deluded to think changing the mechanisms of democracy will make it "work better". Democracy doesn't work well because its democracy its a feature, not a bug.

I wish you made a 20-40 min edited down version of your key points. Either way keep it up, I love seeing intellectual videos like these in the sea of degeneracy the modern internet often feels like

It’s a time commitment for sure but engaging with this type of discourse should be prioritized by all people. How many examples do we have of people basically losing their minds about the current state of the world and then turning that into a 3 part informative presentation to try to foster some kind of impact for the betterment of the world ? People binge a whole season of a worthless show without question. His videos def have room for improvement to make them more concise but they are this lengthy because the subject matter is dense and complicated. He has some self questioning tangents and a few repetitive points but I think the repetition was more intentional and the tangents seem to be from his perfectionist OCD ADHD brain flow lol. Idk if he has any of those official diagnoses but it seems like it. If this is 100% genuine and not some elaborate performance art then I feel for the guy. He’s consumed, maddened, and desperate to a different world. I feel like anyone that actually digests the current global affairs should be driven just as crazy or they are delusional or disassociating to cope. For me all I can do is look around and scream 😂

When I was 17 I read the German epic Faust (my dad’s a German teacher and his family is from Austria). The main character had everything he wanted, but was miserable. Instead of Batman, Faust goes down a dark path of seeking out material greed and youth. Surprise, he is still miserable and is almost a villain in the eyes of the reader. I never understood why I liked reading it so much, but I think it gives the same understanding that you have taken from Batman.

Alright, I made it to the end! Firstly, thank you for this and well done, I am feeling empowered, and yes, this is something I can get behind. You have managed to consolidate many thoughts I've had for a long time, though it had me defeated for a while, I see you've kept your heart through it all, and I just want to encourage you to never lose that. It sounds like we've had some similar experiences with addiction, mental health and recognition of the absolute soul-grinding culture and system we live in, so your words have gone straight to my heart, and I think you are absolutely right. I see you have a real message to share, excited to see what you come up with next! A small side note I think is interesting. Urban planning seems to be one of the very few disciplines where people get together and agree on shared values and then (hopefully) implement evidence-based solutions, Land use and development seem to the the only things we have taken seriously enough to implement this thinking and then of course they are only presented as recommendations to those in power.

Thank you for this thought-provoking video, and thank you even more for the "don't direct it at yourself" message. Speaking from experience, doing that (directing at yourself, I mean) comes with great pain, while escapism often comes with immense guilt. Messages like yours lift some of that guilt. Sometimes it's just necessary to channel the inner storm into something seemingly pointless, just to survive it, until we're able to improve and do something more meaningful.

    • @markbell9973

Yes it does. (!) My best attempt at a confirmation/affirmation is a bumper-sticker reductio ad Descartes: The hair on my arms stands on end; therefor I still have strong, healthy affect after all these years--am "still CRAZY after all these years." (Credit Paul Simon) My most recent such full-on, new, "surprised-by-joy" experience in this domaine?? (quoting C.S. Lewis) Twas J.S. Bach. His choice for a cantata based on "The Magnificat." AKA the "Song of Mary" located-ish at the beginning of The Gospel according to Saint Luke. This is a text that seems to have been studiously "tlptoed through the tulips" for over 2000 years. The ratio of quoting Paul vs. Mary's masterful encapsulation of the whole freakin' Bible would have to amount to an absurdly minimized ratio of 1000:1. (...) Well. Bach took this text on with a gusto outdoing even his own strong+healthy affect "after all these years." I had heard +/- 10 instanciations of this score of Bach's. (...) ...any score of JSB's come down to us is as near near to perfection as it gets in this world of ours. This is an assertion shared by a significant+ number of Sapiens on a continuum with the best scholars on the left...all the way over to most amateur of aware amateurs. (...rizzing through every dark-yellow, even red traffic light in the book...) But. Lo and behold. Who would have thought? Bach's version of Mary's Song landed, in of all places: Jerusalem. It got directed, rehearsed performed by Jews. They didn't have to. They had had every reason not to "after all these yesrs." But they did it anyway. Watch and listen. Draw your own conclusions after having listened to bro.
