Nicely done video, I hope you had fun here on our central coast. Come back soon especially on a Thursday evening for the San Luis Obispo farmers market it’s a good time ( lots of great food). If you’re a steak person check out Jocko’s steakhouse in my little town of Nipomo. Safe travels.
No place like here in Alaska! Simple!😉👍
You got that right! Glad you enjoyed the video
Thank you for this guide
How deep were you fishing for those lingcod/halibut?
Pretty shallow, anywhere from 80 - 250 feet. Big halibut were caught shallower, lings deeper
That was a very, very big fish that you caught😊
Yeah Brandon's was 186, we can a couple of 100 and som good eaters at 60. Great captain
Hey Jon shotgun looks crazy😮
It's a 4/10 with #7 bird shot. You really don't wanna have a 100lb have halibut flopping on the deck. This is a safer method
Ive been to Yakutat. Very beautiful place. Stayed at the Blue Heron Lodge with John Latham the owner. Did some salmon fishing in a fly in camp along the ocean. Trip of a lifetime.
Very cool!
Stayed at Leonard’s many times love fishing Yakutat. How many boxes of fish did you guys take home? Great trip thanks for the video.
About two full boxes each, enough to please friends and family and have a bunch left for us :)
Well done!
what brand are the lady's hiking pants? they look very breathable
My wifes pants were Outdoor Reasearch, unsure or the model.
Planning to visit Fuji next year mid - August. Want to know how much in advance should one make hit reservations ? One month in advance is fine or much earlier? And any link to make hit reservations and Fuji bookings for this trail ?
Get a hut as soon as you can, as they fill up VERY quickly! www.fujisan-climb.jp/en/itineraries/mountain-huts.html
Last question! Regarding the bus from Gotemba Station to Subashiri 5th Station, do you know if for round trip tickets are you locked in to specific departure times, or can you just get on the next mountain shuttle bus available? Thank you so much!
If I recall correctly, we missed the initial bus we wanted and just jumped on the next one. No issues
I really enjoyed your video. It was like being there. We plan to do our climb on 16 July 2024… just around the corner! We have reservations at the hut just below yours, at 3095 meters. I would have liked higher, but they were sold out. A question, please… You checked in to your hut and rested an hour, then took off for the summit. Then you came back to your hut again… did they have any problems with that? Our hut (Taiyokan) says once you check out you can’t come back… Any info would help. We might follow your profile! Thanks for the great video!
No problems at all, we didn't "check out", we just went out for a hike.
Is it a direct bus from Gotemba station to the Subashiri trail? I'm climbing mount Fuji in July.
Yes the bus goes direct and drops you in the parking lot at the trailhead. Have a fun climb!
Last question, the bus sends you directly to the 5th station area?
@@thepedders Hi Jon! Great video! When did you buy ticket for bus from Gotemba to Subashiri 5 station and back? And one more question: me and my gf planning to visit mt Fuji at 8 September but all Huts are selled out, only 2700m one is available, is it worth it to book it? Or may be we should spend money and buy 2-day trip with reserved hut at the 3200m, but it cost 50k yen
@@doctorbeast1 Yes, drops you at 5th station parking lot
@@bpospanov We purchased the tickets at the bus station, vending machine is right there. Huts are tough to reserve, we stayed at 8.5 so I can't speak to other hut locations. Keep trying the hut reservations, you might get lucky, it took us a while.
going to (hopefully) climb this in a month. Thanks for shraing this!
Hi, brilliant video. I was hoping you can help me with few questions I have. I booked the hut on 6.5 as that was only one available so far is the summit from there. Also the transport getting there how did you book the train and how many days in advance. And the bus. How long did it take you to climb it and down
Thank you, it was a fun climb. The train and bus we didn't pre-book, just waited at the stops and got on :) The bus is right outside the train station and was easy to find and use. We climbed and summited in a single day, then slept at 8.5 camp and headed down. 6.5 is pretty low on the mountain, so you'll have a solid hike leaving there. It all depends on your goals, see the sunrise etc. and your fitness.
How to reserve a room in mountain hut and which station is that?
We stayed at the 8.5 hut, all huts sell out very quickly. here's the website link www.fujisan-climb.jp/en/itineraries/mountain-huts.html
your voice sound like Liam Neeson. Great video!
Ha ha, I've heard that many times :) Glad you enjoyed my video, enjoy your climb !
You made an amazing video, with salmon season possibly closed for a second year here in the Bay Area I might book a trip up to Washington or Alaska. Do you bring your own rods and reels or are they all provided? I am sure you can rent. Also at 480p video quality I wish it was a bit higher resolution.
I fish with Kingfisher Charters, and all gear is provided. All tackle, rubber boots and slickers, just show up and have fun. Not the cheapest, but certainly the best.
Thank you for sharing, exactly the same route (and hut) I plan to do this year.
Have fun! Make sure you hike around the crater to get to the summit. Also, book your hut well in advance.
Good job on the video and great job on the fishing. I go to Sitka a few times a summer as my wife works there. Fishing is very good in the Sitka area. Salmon fishing and Halibut fishing treated me good in 2023. Caught one halibut so large my wife and I could not get it in our little boat. We were only going out Salmon fishing so I had no Halibut landing tools. Some times good to let those big females go anyhow so just getting it to the boat and touching it made me happy. Interesting bring a large Halibut up on 20 pound mono and Salmon tackle.
Thanks for your comment, we love Sitka and Kingfisher. It's a place I can take my wife and she's comfortable and taken care of. Trolling for Halibut was new, for us and the captain, but worked for smaller keepers, we didn't have any slabs, but have enough fish to eat for months.
I think this is the first video I found here on YT filmed with a camera that shows how steep the climb is.
Great video. Thank you. I plan on hiking Fuji in September andnhave been researching which trail to take. I think this one will be the best choice for me.
Make reservations early if you plan on an overenight. They sell out Very quickly.
😮
Thank you for stamp info
Yes we got stamps at each station. Though station 9 was closed, so we have all but that one
Even a decade ago, everyone wanted to record over pretentious selfies.
???
Nice trip. Thanks for sharing. Did you catch your limit each day?
We did, Steve is a great captain
Did you need a day permit for this climb? I feel this is right before the main whitney area?

Welcome to Japan 😊 please come to Japan again🇯🇵
we just got back from Sitka what a wonderful place. Epic fishing. I caught a 147# halibut self guided definitely going back 🤓
Wow, larger than our fish for sure
@@thepedders I took our team offshore and anchored in 350’ of water. I found a massive pile of bait and whales everywhere. It was near a spot I had marked on navionics at home before going. Once anchored we had our first halibut on with 4 min of arrival. The big fish didn’t hit until 2nd tide change but when it hit we all knew it was massive. 38min battle. Penn 60 and an ugly stick did the trick 🙏
wicked! Nice catch @@american_dane
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Why did you go up via Tengpoche when there is much more impressive High Scenic Trail on the opposite side of the valley going via Mong La and Phortse? Amazing views, lots of wildlife and no trekkers. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.
We needed to get to Pangboche, so we could get to Ama Dablam basecamp. We also flew out, so there was no "on the way out". This is the route I had trekked when climbing Ama, so wanted to repeat with my wife.
@@thepedders The high trail Marc mentions goes from Phortse to Pangpoche.
@@thepedders I am sorry your wife doesn’t think much of Mount Everest. I would give my eye teeth to see it. But to each their own I guess.
