Video of the fireworks display in Jasper, Alabama, on July 3, 2015 with some music added. Enjoy!
Jacks hamburgers had delicious fried apple pies and burgers. My whole family was born and raised in Dora.. my mother and grandmother are the only ones that left the area. MEMORIES
My late grandfather, as well as his two older brothers, my great uncles, came to Jasper from Pennsylvania back around 1872 to seek work in the coal mines. My grandfather at the time , was about 5 years old, my uncles were in their teens, my uncles were killed shortly after arriving in Jasper, some type of train accident. My grandfather grew up in a Church Orphanage in Jasper. That is my ties to Jasper and Walker County.
Does anyone have any vhs tapes 1986 or 1987 seasons?
Elmors used to sell alligators for 8$ mother wouldn’t me get one, probably a good thing.
We used to get in the trunk of the car and go into the drive in, only thing is it was five dollars a car no matter how many people were in the car, 🤪, it’s was fun though.
I think I saw my mother in the George Wallace picture
I would guess that store that has Sides on it would be my relative my grandmother was a Sides
My late grandmother was a Sides, she was from the Bayview Lakes area of western Jefferson County and was a twin.
My only connection with Carbon Hill, Alabama: I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and went to college in Memphis, Tennessee in 1963. For several years, I rode the Greyhound bus back and forth. It went along U.S. Highway 78 through Jasper, Carbon Hill, Guinn, Winfield, Hamilton, and also Tupelo, Mississippi, birthplace of Elvis Presley. Never got off the bus, but I remember those elevated coal bins at 6:17--or something very similar.
Music is perfect for this video 👍🏻
I bet that train derailment was when I read about the Disney guy 70 railroad track because one of his trucks got stuck on the track and hit the truck
My Grand father was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama in 1928 very big family. He enlisted in the military at the age of 17.Served in the Pacific theatre of war, he was shot twice in left leg ,odly he was shot by two different caliber shells , one entered ,the second went trough the exact same path of the 1,st round! Got back home and was rewarded 2 purple harts,He was married in sikestone Mo. To Freta Eveland from pasaqula Mo. They went to work in St.Louis, Mo., basically they could find good and secure employment during those days and was able to raze a family My Grandfather name was JamesAlfred Parris ,I believe his folks were from Fayette ,Co. Ala.

I don't know why I didn't think to watch this sooner. I wish I could have been there but I remember I had been sick at the time. I wanted to take care of myself so I could sing in Handel's Messiah the next Monday Night.
My aunt was born there, and my Great grandfather worked at Indian Head Mill.
jan dupree My grandparents are from there.
Phillip Boyd My Great Grandfather's name was William Dupree he worked there at the Mill. My other Grandfather was Boyd Guttery, he owned some stores there.
jan dupree Never heard of any Dupree. I remember a store on Gardner's Gin Rd right next to Corinth Baptist church way years ago. I lived on Gardner's Gin Rd. My grandparents were Boyds.
