Depending on the week, we'll either be going behind the scenes with HR execs to hear about what they do every day OR we'll be discussing the topics in the HR world that are top of mind for us.
Name it to claim it
HR Knows the Problems. Why Aren’t We Solving Them?
Burnout in HR isn’t a mystery-it’s a crisis.
Fourth-quarter medical leaves.
Mass exits from the profession.
An overwhelming sense of “we’re not okay.”
Colin Mincy doesn’t mince words: “We know the problems. They are lingering, well-dialogued, clear problems. We’re just not dealing with them.”
What’s Really Holding HR Back?
The Same Names, The Same Stories
Ask any cross-functional group: Who derails progress? Who creates toxic environments? You’ll hear the same names.
Clarity & Fairness Are Missing
Promotions depend on managers, not merit. Decision-making lacks transparency. These aren’t new issues-they’re just unresolved.
Harm vs. Healing

Big L Leadership Starts with Little L Skills. Great leaders don’t start with titles. They start with values. Before becoming an impactful big L leader-someone with a formal title or position-you must first master the art of little L leadership. This is about living out values and virtues in your personal life that complement, not substitute, the culture of your organization. Here’s what little ...
Big L Leadership starts with Little L skills

In any workplace, there’s always a big L - the positional leader. These are the CEOs, directors, or managers, the ones with the titles that set the tone and direction. But too often, these big L leaders overshadow the quiet power of the little L leaders - the personal leaders. Little L leaders don’t need titles. They lead by example, rooted in values, virtues, and authenticity. They embody the ...

How Atlassian measures the ROI on their real estate
Просмотров 221 день назад
Frequent office visits don’t drive team connection for Atlassian. Contrary to popular belief, distributed companies do care about their offices. About 60 percent of their team lives near an office and uses it as per their need. This might be frequent for some and rare for others. While it's a valuable resource, they’ve found that sporadic office visits don't affect team connection. So, what doe...
The future of work is distributed
Просмотров 621 день назад
The future of work is distributed It's easy to measure today versus what we've lost from the past. It’s way more difficult to measure today versus what we stand to gain in the future. Yet, innovation necessitates risk-taking. Take, for instance, the pre-automobile era. Efforts were primarily concentrated on improving horse care and carriage maintenance. However, significant progress occurred wh...

um... no. Maybe Gen-Z needs to learn responsibility and work.
you know what sucks about the older generations is that they think because they were miserable cunts most of their life that everyone after should suffer the same fate
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Robert. It's interesting to see how different generations view work and responsibility. The discussion around the 40-hour workweek often touches on adapting to new challenges and opportunities in the workplace. How do you think we can best balance tradition with evolving work styles to foster responsibility and productivity for all generations?
@@themodernpeopleleader If more people are hired, job burnout will decrease. Previous generations worked 40+ hour workweeks with no problem. This younger generation should be able to handle 40 hours. I mean, if the boomers can, then why can't younger folks?
@@AdcoxRobert Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Robert. Balancing productivity with employee well-being is key in today's workplace. It’s an ongoing discussion worth exploring
It’s a negative sum game
Ohh Helen as a former Rivian employee in Normal Il. that was forced to file work comp as well as lost my job 30 days after a separate 40:15 incident we really need to talk. Especially if you truly feel this way! After watching further I have come to the conclusion you are not located at the Normal facility
Wow seems familiar. I worked there almost 2 years been on work comp restriction since July that they wouldn’t follow….gave my permanent restrictions going forward and was fired the next day. Rivian has done so many good workers wrong. They don’t value good workers. I tried reaching out to good ole Helen via email but of course no response 🤷♀️

This lady and her co-host on The Brown Table Talk are absolutely wild. Just listen to an episode or two and realize how out of touch she is with everyone but the ones who play the game of identity politics.
Great talk!
