Fellow Helldivers, Am I crazy for thinking Helldivers 2 is going to have a (smaller) PUBG like influence on the industry? It's essentially a PvE Battle Royale... - Drop 4 friends onto an open world map. - Make it difficult so you need eachother. - Force engagements with timer (circle). I've really enjoyed Helldivers 2 but I think it's doing a number of things wrong. Could you see a few other studios look at that formula and try to take it to the next level? Main complaints: - Objective variety is lacking. - Traversing the map becomes boring after you've unlocked your stratagems + weapons. - Planet drop screen could be way more strategic + fun. - Weapon & stratagem balance is terrible. Are we going to get a Fortnite, Apex, and Warzone type wave after Helldivers 2?

Jake! WTF didn't you pick up Helldivers 2?! You don't need a mic and you there's like 9 difficulty settings so you don't have to feel pressured to do **** for your team. Fred, talk him into it! To me, it represents why videogames are such a cool medium. The amount of unscripted "movie moments" the game provides is awesome. Plus, it'll get supported for years now that it's such a big hit. Fred, talk some sense into him!

Hey y'all, thanks for the in depth look at NMS in Vr. That gave me a lot of insight into that kind of experience, and it sounds great except for the controls change 😆. You got my name correct mostly. The K is silent so it sounds like "Nipp" and you can just say Wes like you was because that's my first name and alotta people get the pronunciation wrong anyway. But also the NMS has a story which has missions like a normal game and the story is pretty good. I won't spoil in case you finish it. But the point is really to just do what you want to really. You can explore to find planets, ships, buried treasures, find glitches to display at your base, find exotic creatures. And all of your findings you can view in your discoveries tab. You can trade and sell, it's pretty much endless. I'm on Ps5 and I had to force myself to play Dredge just to get off NMS for awhile because it's just fun to exist there. So I'm on Dredge now and it's a pretty awesome game so far, well worth a play. But again, thanks for the reply on the show, great job as always, and I'll be listening every week. Great job y'all

I was into the hard sci fi world, the unique tone, the futuristic themes etc...but then all of a sudden I'm listening the CHVRCHES and Low Roar? I feel like it needed an otherworldly Oppenheimer esque (Nolan) soundtrack and we got a Euphoria (HBO), Gone Home, very 2014 era soundtrack instead. You two didn't have that experience? Everyone seems to be fine with paying tax if we can see where the money goes, but every dollar in circulation is more stepped on than coke at a high school party.

Guys, Great topic this week! Legitamitely unique. I just wanted to see if you distinguish between multiplayer and single player when it comes to getting "lost in the noise". Recently, we've seen Lethal Company light up the charts. A game made by a 21 year old Roblox creator with essentially zero budget. Multiplayer is littered with these kinds of examples. (DotA, PUBG, Unturned, Valheim, Among Us, Battlebit Remasted etc...) It feels like a quality multiplayer game that can get 100 players has a chance to grow into a huge success without the help of marketing or media. It doesn't feel the same for an indie single player game. Do you agree and if so, what's the difference? Happy 2024!

All these $60-200 games are coming out broken and not worth the $ as is. Forza motorsport being a perfect example. The game is literal garbage and a step down from the last iteration in almost everyway with absolutely nothing new added. Car selection is worse, track selection is worse, aingle player worse, no working replays, no stats, tire wear/mpg is completely different from single to multiplayer for no other reason than to have 1 set of races every other week that require pit stops, disappearing track, game literally wouldnt post for a large # of players for weeks, penalty aystem is garbage, of track "curbs" meant to stip corner cutting are unrealistic invisible crash walls that do nothing in multiplayer (where it would matter), but destroy your car in single player if you look at them funny. No drift lobbies(even though they copypastad drift suspension from previous games), no drag races(same thing). And instead of fixing any of these things they are winning awards while having an extremely negative score on steam or any other "player based rating system". All the media assholes keep giving it 10 out of 10 ao they can keep getting early access to keep "reviewing" and getting clicks. Sorry for the rant, but the industry is beyond broken right now with fallout, cyberpunk, that space game, anything from EA or Bethesda. Nba 2k and madden are some of the worse offenders. All of this and this is the time you think people would want to spend 10$ extra to package something that is usually 10$ or less by itself anyway? Just so a large corp can take 60% of the sale of the indie game anyway. Then Sony can rake their 25%. Indie dev gets maybe more sales, but walks away from programming since they are taking home less than 10% of sales(after taxes)
