Grosshorn (3756 m) via the spectacular exposed South Ridge - Mountaineering Switzerland
Ascent of the Grosshorn in the Bernese Alps on the border of cantons Bern and Wallis on 23rd July 2024 with a group from the SAC Mountain Club. We ascended from the Anenhütte in the canton Wallis via the exposed South Ridge to the summit.
This climb is rarely done during summer season since there is a tricky couloir that is very prone to rock fall when the snow is gone, but we could manage the situation well. The rest of the climb is still fairly difficult (AD), especially the spectacularly exposed south ridge to the summit in both rock and snow should not be underestimated. We encountered ideal conditions for the climb, especially good conditions on the steep snow ridge.

How are you satisifed with red Kerbl gloves that you used? And where did you buy them? Were your hands cold? Tnx!
These gloves are just some regular gardening gloves with a good friction surface. I bought them in a local gardening shop in Switzerland. At times my hands got gold, but I bring another thicker pair of gloves for this case.
Excellent. What climbing harness are you using, or would recommend.
It's a Mammut climbing harness, I don't know the exact name of the model. It's a good multipurpose harness you can use for rock climbing, mountaineering, indoor climbing etc.

Such an epic climb up the Dom! 🏔 The views from the summit look unreal, and tackling the Hobärg Glacier sounds intense but worth it. Great choice going for the normal route with the fresh snow - must have been an incredible experience! Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure on Switzerland’s highest peak! ❄💪

We did it 3 weeks later. My guidebook says PD+, which I would agree with.
Yes, somewhere between PD+ and AD sounds about right. In perfect conditions and with the new chains installed on the last rocky section, it's closer to PD+.
