I and my friend Dr. Bharti Shelat, Director B. J. Institute and a Sanskrit scholar have jointly contributed an exhaustive article on this step well which was published in Guj To Day long back. Sanskrit inscription was deciphered by her and Arabic by me. According to Arabic inscription, a good number of fruit bearing trees were planted around the well for the sake of those who come and rest there. Sanskrit inscription preserves the names of KARIGAR, architect and SALAT who built it. They were all Hindus.Dr. Shelat has also discussed in detail the types and peculiarities of step wells in Gujarat.
