We wanted to out together a short 1 minute video; a brief compilation of our family, our home and our garden over the years. Enjoy!
11:10 in the video, where you show how the base was built, what are the supporting metal pieces you have on the main post to support the sides? Only a corner visible.. did you guys also use screws for the sides or just those brackets to secure?
Turn your horseshoe around... you are pouring out all your luck. "According to the old wives tale, a horseshoe is considered lucky because it is believed to ward off evil spirits, with the crescent shape symbolizing the moon and protecting against the "evil eye"; the most common practice is to hang a horseshoe over a doorway with the open ends pointing upwards to "catch" good luck."
Has the bamboo returned?
Stones are more stable when they are stacked with the seams of the second row stones meeting in the center of the stone on the first row and so on. The stones on the end of every other row will have to be cut in half to fit.
Uncle Bob 💗
I've been collecting windows and a good door ....my family thinks lm crazy every time they see my collection but I have had this idea for a while and should be able to start building mine in the fall. Hopefully it will turn out similar to yours.
I would use the granite cubes for the greenhouse floor.
Nice job, but there’s too many people telling us how to … whatever and they speak from months of experience, you should speak from your 9 years of experience and newbie’s will learn! Hang in there and be yourself and you’ll find an audience that identifies with you.
Adorable for garden & kitty! Nice job!
I once built a similar trellis using 1/2" conduit for the upper cross pieces. My tomato plants got so heavy, the pipe sagged. I hope your wood will be stronger. The following year, in the spirit of overkill, I used plumbing pipe for the vertical and cross pieces. I even planted the two vertical pieces in concrete. No sagging. However, those white strings like you're using snapped under the weight of the fruits on the vine. Further, the little white clippy things every tomato grower on YT recommends, became so brittle under our NM sun that they shattered and scattered. But, my biggest problem was that, perhaps due to a longer growing season than you have there (?), my vines ran out of places to grow. I think next year I'm going to try a cow panel arched trellis. That'll give my vines lots of support and 16 ft to grow on.
Beautiful job
Love it! Gonna try to do more cut flowers this year. I need to utilize more of our lawn and try things in different areas like u all do! Thanks
Thanks for all the good info! Such a relaxing space. Collecting windows now🌷🐛🪻🌲
Stone floor, even gapped for water drainage would assist in warming in winter as the stones would absorb heat and release later?
With the steel footers the corner posts sit in, wouldn't water get down in there underneath the post and still cause rot? That's just my thinking anyway but I live in Australia, in an area where wet rot isn't a thing. We don't get much rain. Lovely little house I have visions of creating my own one day when I have enough windows.
Good job, Bob!! 😅This is beautiful! 🎉
Awesome greenhouse! Really enjoying your content. Just subscribed! ❤. We are planning a greenhouse video for our DIY/garden channel as well. I guess that’s why my phone suggested this video because it knew I had been googling greenhouses. 😂. Glad to have found you.
Great greenhouse! Thank you for sharing. New friend.😊
Thanks for sharing this! ❣️
Hi there, I just found your channel, and really enjoyed the videos so far. Looking forward to seeing the back garden and all your future pans. Cheers from Newfoundland, Canada ...zone 5b PS....my garden is under approx. 3' snow at the moment so no gardening anytime soon here!
I love your green house and your thoughts - amazing for real 😮❤🎉🎉🎉
I am building (almost) exactly what you built. I've got all the windows and lumber but haven't started yet because all I have is the idea of what I want but not the knowledge of how to build it and Oh, how I wish you had videoed your build. I've been doing research and looking at blue prints and then doing it all over again. I Will build it this year. Thanks for the run through of your build. I may have to make friends with a builder so I can have some expert advice.
Having advice from someone is a good idea. Most important part is to get the foundation right…and that it can support the weight of the remaining structure. Good luck!
Nice greenhouse. Once you said math was involved, I knew it wasn't for me. 😂😂
Lol!❤
😂😂😂
Great looking GH! You don't mention any way of venting?? Just the door?
Oh yes! There are two upper windows on the front and back that pivot out to vent hot air. Forgot to mention that.
Did you install the windows before you lifted the walls into place or after?
After. I premeasured the openings as we built the walls. Once the walls were up I placed each window in with screws temporarily and once everything was done, I permanently put them in. But you definitely want to put your wall up without the windows.
@@TheCrockerCottageThanks. I'll follow your advice.
Plant marshmallows so you get marshmallow vines.
Nice.. and good advice on getting help..
Yes, help is a must.
Use the stones you find for the greenhouse floor.😊 it will hold heat in winter.
Beautiful!!!
6’ X 12’ perfect for seedlings
its awesome. not just nicely done....awesomely done
Those cubes are called cobble stones and highly prized for most people to use for paving. Originally used so women would not get their hoop dresses dirty from scraping the hem in the dirt... back in the day :)
I agree, paint the fence. You have such a beautiful space, can't wait to see the garden in full bloom. 🌼🌷🌻
Looking great, Crocker fam! Can’t wait to see the process. We love zinnias! ❤
Love this so much!! Can’t wait to see everything ❤
i pay little to no attention to rap news but I DESPISE rapist sympathizers and that is why I will stan Megan
Great project! And a really nice combination of reused material and new wood/concrete to make solid foundations. With the greenhouse spared the scorching rays of summer afternoons but able to get full sunlight in winter, it sounds like maybe the placement was actually perfect? Also, those look like cobblestones to me, and those are *very* expensive where I live. Amazing to have found nearly 3,000 of them on your property!
...aaaand I find myself already on craigslist looking for windows!
😂
How much did you spend on this?
About $2,000 total but I can be done for less
Really informative video. I think I’ll give this a try.
Love this!
