Wonderful video. I was fortunate to visit Skellig Michael many years ago. I would like to add that this Island is the tip of the 'Sword of St Michael', a geographical alignment of seven sites dedicated to St Michael, all on prominent hill tops.

The Irish placenames in the transcription are unfortunately impossible to decipher. It would be very helpful if you could provide them. Last week I was in Piedmont in Northern Italy, where I visited another important monastic site high up on a mountain peak called la Sacra di San Michele. They claim that it was the first monastic site to take the name of Saint Michael and from then on it became customary to name such sites in the same way. They also claim they are all aligned on a straight line going from Skellig Michael, through Saint Michael's Mount, le Mont Saint Michel and of course la Sacra San Michele to Jerusalem. It was considered to be an early pilgrim road, though I'm not at all sure how they can prove it, but there it is. I have also visited a chapel dedicated to Saint Michael perched high on a steep volcanic rock formation at le Puy en Velay in France, but I don't think it is aligned with the other sites.

Reading one of her books now (second for me). Stunning writing. The kind of writing that makes you happy to be alive.

Very informative and beautiful. Will be visiting here in May, 2024. Looking forward to climbing the 600 steps on Skellig Michael to visit the monastery. Thank you for all the historic info on the monks.

I was lucky enough to meet Dervla about 35 years ago in Handsworth, Birmingham of all places. She`s one of the most interesting and inspiring women I have ever met. She was just lovely. She came into a pub my friend and I were in one Sunday lunch time and we got chatting to her. She was amazing and we invited her home for lunch and she accepted to our delight. We had a couple of drinks, smoked a joint together and had a marvellous lunch and an afternoon of wonderful conversation. We invited her to stay the night in our spare room, but she sweetly declined as she had to be on her way, so we waved goodbye and she rode off on her bicycle. Sadly for us, we never met her again, but I feel that was the way it was supposd to be for us. There were new people and new adventures everywhere for her and our little connection was everything it was meant to be and I feel privileged to have met her. Rest Peacefully Dervla. 🙏🕉

I just saw this movie on an Aerlingus flight. It is wonderful.

Searching for this movie, had seen it before & it was really great, having very thing & more in it - mystery, horror, romance, comedy & so on. A flick that could be watched again & again & still you'd find somethin new!
