HTA: Objectif d’investissement

    • @BestDividendStocks-ETF
      @BestDividendStocks-ETF 10 месяцев назад

      For sure, choosing ETFs like JEPI or JEPQ can be a decent option if you're working with a smaller budget. Personally, I see the appeal in these ETFs for their potential to offer a relatively regular income, which is pretty handy if you're eyeing the FIRE approach. It's just my take, though. It's always wise to weigh all sides and see how any investment fits into your broader financial picture and goals.

    For people who say covered etfs would erode nav… there are % of covered calls. For the case of qyld, it uses 100% coverage, which will erode nav and gives up all upside potential. However a lot of covered call etfs op mentioned are 30-50% coverage, meaning for the remaining of the portfolio they will receive full upside potential, which is a good balance of growth and monthly income, my 2 cents

    • @BestDividendStocks-ETF
      @BestDividendStocks-ETF 10 месяцев назад

      You make a great point about covered call ETFs and how much of their portfolio they cover with calls, like 30-50%. This mix helps them balance earning money from call options and still letting the investments grow. For me, a 30% coverage feels just right given what I'm okay with risk-wise. This way, you can get some regular income and also have a chance for the investments to increase in value. It's a smart plan for people who want a bit of both - growth and regular earnings.

But remember, markets have good and bad times, and sometimes patience can really pay off. It's all about the long game and keeping a balanced view.

      Covered call ETFs are ideal for retirees aiming for both income and reduced volatility. Nevertheless, there are a couple of considerations to bear in mind: The distribution yield may appear enticing presently, reaching double digits due to current market dynamics. However, historical data suggests that if the overall volatility of the market index these ETFs track decreases, this yield is likely to decline, as it has in the past. While a covered call ETF can provide a degree of stability compared to holding an index ETF, it remains susceptible to significant declines during market corrections. In light of this, I personally recommend diversifying across various income-generating assets and using covered call ETFs judiciously to augment your yield.

  • @HamiltonRb
    @HamiltonRb Год назад

    What are your thoughts on owning covered call etf’s on half the equity portion of the portfolio to get income, and use the straight dividend etf’s on the other half for the growth and a bit of income?

    • @BestDividendStocks-ETF
      @BestDividendStocks-ETF Год назад

      It really depends on your financial objective and risk tolerance. Just a reminder though, the MER for covered call ETFs is usually around 2% (so much higher than a regular dividend ETF) and there may be tax implications for receiving a high yield (depending on where you're holding the fund). Hope this helps

    Good video overall but I’ll make one comment - I don’t believe it’s correct to say that you never want to own a covered call ETF when the market is going up. It depends on your situation. Example: if you are holding the CC ETF specifically for the retirement income, you are never going to trade those shares because they are generating an income stream & your beneficiaries will eventually own the shares. Should that be balanced with other holdings? Sure. But I’m not selling my CC income stream based in market direction. If you disagree tell me why :-)

      I am not an expert. My feeling is Canadian Banks are solid and are undervalued if held long term. The job market is still strong. The fact that fraud exists means its not that easy to get a mortgage from a Canadian Bank. The housing bubble in the US was industry led with greed and basically approving everyone which I dont think was the case in Canada. The good news is housing prices are cooling down which definitely reduce the risk of a bubble . Again thats just my personal opinion!
