It's speculated that the government wanted to bring McCall back to Yankton because they wanted to expand the South Dakota territory (all the way west to Rapid City) to make it a state. McCall's first trial of innocence was judged by a "Mining Tribunal". The government used this as another reason to haul McCall back to Yankton.

It was Indian territory. Please see my recent response. Another update: In the video I have pointed out the building where McCall was jailed. Recently this building has been deemed unhabitable and will be torn down. It has been used recently as apartments.

If you are asking about rentals in Yankton city limits, the best information that I can give you would be to contact the Yankton Thrive office. Thrive is basically Yankton's Chamber of Commerce office. Their number is (605) 665-3636

We are supposed to experience the "El Nino" effect this winter. Which they tell me means a warmer and drier winter. Ha!

I wouldn't say wages are higher here than the east or west coast. But the cost of living is much lower than either the west or east coast. There is currently a shortage of workers here so wages for workers are higher than they have been.

@@SouthDakotaRealtor thanks but sounds like the same low wage philosophy is prevalent in SD as it is in Ky & IN. Taxes are much less in SD than in IN.

I'm no expert on Maine winters! I can tell you that South Dakota winters can be harsh. Last year we received 6 ft of snow in Yankton. But that was very rare we had that much. Normal high temps can be in the 20's. And it will get below zero when cold fronts move through! I will say that the state of SD overall does a great job of keeping the roads open in the winter.

@@SouthDakotaRealtor Sounds like the weather is chillier with more snow. Also reminds me of Northern Maine weather, but in southern Maine its much different, alot warmer in the winter. But you guys are much better with your roads it seems

Thanks for your questions. Building still continues and the selling market is still very strong in our area. It would be almost impossible to determine the average cost of a property at the lake. There are so many variables. Lake view vs no lake view. Nebraska vs South Dakota. One thing for sure is that it's a strong selling market.

The building where the trial of Jack McCall took place in Yankton is at 3rd and Capitol. Currently it is used as some type of low income housing for people.

Jack McCall is now buried in an unmarked grave in the Catholic Cemetery along Douglas Avenue in Yankton SD. Only a few individuals know exactly where he is buried.

No you don’t wanna work there, it’s a 12 hour shift Monday thru Saturday in a slaughterhouse and most people in there speak Spanish the beef plant in Yankton isn’t a good place, if you move to Yankton I’d advise you to work anywhere else, Wilson trailer, hydro, Parker, truxedo, anything other than AFG

@@loganpayer That's not really an option. That job is the only reason I'm considering moving there. Comes with housing and other bonuses. As someone who's currently unemployed, carless, and may soon be homeless, it's not really a "Pass" kinda deal.

If you are only fishing for yourself and not selling any of your catch, you can fish on Lewis & Clark Lake with a Nebraska or South Dakota fishing license license.
