That is not correct. Tuning is the same from C to C and so on all across . The reason it sounds different is best explained in Modes.

They're both the same. They're both from the Dorian mode. She excludes the minor third formed between the tonic and mediant that would be used to identify the mode. It gives the melodies a whole-tone or pentatonic vibe, but really it's just the first melody in the Dorian built on B, and the second melody built a half-step up on C. No doubt this is well represented in the literature, but this is the first time I've been asked to hear it and figure it out. Thanks. I'm guessing this could be used to spice up some sequential repetition of motives? Do you have any suggestions for hearing this in actual performance repertoire? I'm guessing this sort of thing might be fairly common from the impressionists, but I could also see this popping up in some Bach, like, as a way to switch to a new key, or transition between sections.

That was not hard: 1st major, 2nd minor key.

Not the same melody I think because of 2 reasons: 1st being it is played few semitones apart BUT, 2nd reason, in the second melody, the last 3 or 4 notes DIFFER from the ones being played in the first melody. Also, you're beautiful!😇

i play guitar, not piano.... but i closed my eyes and listened to the first one, it gave me an "enlightened" feeling, like id soon start to float. the second one i think is in Minor bc it gave me more of a chilling, creepy night vibe

More like "how bad is your ear"? Honestly, if someone could not at least identify that the melodys were different, I would have to assume some sort of physical disability, memory disorder or some actual psychological or neurological issue.

2nd one is the same melody as 1st, just transposed up 1 halfstep! So technically, different! For me this was really easy, since I have perfect pitch haha. Good test though!
