    Is there any film material from the production Aida auf Schalke, that took place some weeks before on 1st september 2001?

      Unfortunatly not. We had loved making it, as it was our 1st stadium production, but the time was lacking for a proper rehearsal with cameras present. A pity in retrospect, as it was a very successful performance.

    Voce inadatta, inscurita e pompata artificialmente, si vede come come nei passaggi la voce tende a schiarire e la ingabbia. I bassi sono cupi collassati e non risuonanti in alto. Vibrato caprino perché l’apparato fonatorio non è costretto da tensioni. In molti punti i suoni vanno indietro. Voce piccola e inadatta. Nilsson, Dimitrova, Cigna, Marton, Grob, queste sono le vere Turandot.

    A l’inici ja interpretació del primer tempo de waltz és genuïna; i el posat de Violetta; i la claretat de la seua veu i les altres del clor són totes nítides.     Well it's certainly an interesting stage. Takes a little bit to get used to it. I like that Turandot actually had a reaction to each time Calaf got the riddles correct. Most women who played Turondot don't really react very much and I always thought they should. The orchestra needs a little kick in the ass though. They're not giving it enough passion.

    This is a knockout staging of Carmen. The somber entrance of death on horseback was memorable. Kudos for NIkolov and Krasteva for their spell binding performances.

      There's a version of Carmen I've been looking for where at the end, the stage turns around and Escamillo is shown with the dead bull on the floor, mirroring Carmen's death and his victory over the bull. The best ending of Carmen I have seen yet

    The enactment of Liu's death doesn't make any sense. Would a slave girl have gotten that close to a princess with a weapon?

    It is such a pity, because all the singers were excellent, with lovely voices and they looked like the role (Carmen was very beautiful and the two men really handsome and believable). But the direction and the acting were very lacking, lifeless and almost amateurial. The soldiers marched nonchalantly, even at the change of guard, when the words (sung by the children) said "shoulders back, chest to the front". They didn't, LOL. Carmen's body language was completely inadequate. She felt like a high-society lady who just plays the seductress for a home theatre Sunday afternoon performance. It's a pity because she had all the physical prerequisites, and the sultry voice to match. (UPDATE: I was shocked to see how much better she was in another production, here. ruclips.net/video/3h-fP4zSH40/видео.htmlsi=Ao1I3X0j3t9l2MUm How much more "active", comfortable with her body... Unfortunately the other video didn't have a performance date, so I don't know whether it was from the same period or after, but the difference was obvious!) Don José looked bored or slightly annoyed most of the time, and when he first meets Micaela, he seems to view her with distaste - I first thought it was a directorial idea, but then he actually gave her a romantic kiss at the end, so he wasn't supposed to find her repulsive after all. The director of course was the main culprit. Most notably, he didn't know how to move crowds, which is crucial in this particular opera. Especially the scene at Lilas Pastia's was almost embarrassingly static and boring - not once did I feel the crescendo of drunken gaiety and joie de vivre. And because the people couldn't express anything with their bodies, they just rotated some toreador capes? What? Come on!

      I googled the information based on "Krasteva" and "Brno Ernst" (the conductor's name). The performance which you preferred occurred in 2005. If she seemed less energetic, my guess is she got bored after performing Carmen for whole year.

    The tenor is a Bad jock but she is an Amazing surprise. There is so much Callas in her, some notes if you close the eyes.....and she never tries to do it so, it just like this. InThe end of the Enigma scène, wich is even more difficult than the aria itself, she is almost perfect. Very few soprano understand the writing like this. I wish i saw her live.
