Samurai Jack's Unfortunate Licensed Game Treatment

Samurai Jack was an iconic series on Cartoon Network about a lonesome samurai fighting the evil that is Aku, that anyone my age watched growing up. Thanks to its success it would receive 3 official licensed games in Amulet of Time, Shadow of Aku and Battle Through Time, all of which would end up suffering from the Licensed Game Treatment. Let's talk about it. If you enjoyed this video, please l...

How Easily Can You Make $1,000,000 In GTA San Andreas Before Starting The First Mission?
GTA SA > RDRII > every other game ever
True!
My most favorite game ever is 13 days older than me. Insanity
Yo early happy birthday to you🥳 But ya I have covered games that are older than my existence on this channel too. That is crazy
wow this video is amazing. please keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you mate. Btw your username gets your comments auto-hidden by RUclips's automated system...
@@WordsOfWisdomForRealThats bullshit! Thanks for notice
gta san Andreas is the only game that I can say is one of the best ever made but also had the most wasted potential
Wasted in terms of the era it was made in, maybe. In terms of what they were able to and how much was able to even fit on a PS2 disc, there wasn't a whole lot more in the tank. The game drops frames on original hardware due to its sheer amount of content already, would be near unplayable if they pushed it even further
1:00:11 my favorite part xD Great video btw, it deserves way more views
She's always begging for attention, no matter the situation. Love that little furball <3 Glad you enjoyed the video, it's doing pretty well all things considered actually!
why the fuck is cj wearing a yugioh card deck thingy😂
Because he got a phonecall about having to prevent the Egyptian god cards falling into the wrong hands, duh
Here it is, the video that has consumed my life for the past 2.5 months. A retrospective love letter about my favourite game of all time: Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. I spent hundreds of hours on making this, a lot of (too) late nighters… and ended up with the best video I have ever made. Hope you enjoy the 1:37h long result :) If you do, I’d truly appreciate a like and potentially for you to share it on any relevant platforms you know of… Thank you in advance <3 I’ll have 1 more video uploaded before the end of the year. A journey through one of the worst RPG’s of all time. See you there
I agree this game is also my personal favorite game of all time i have no more words to say this game is just legendary 🎮🐐
Would love to see the stack mechanic in a new PMD game with better sprites. It'd be broken tho
omg i used to play mcwii with 60+ fps on my pc only when i open settings, but when Idon't open settings, I play at 14 fps, your actually a life saver, thanks
GTA 3>San Andreas
No
@@WordsOfWisdomForReal to be fair, I never said GTA San Andreas was bad
To say 3 is better than SA is a diabolical comment on its own
@@WordsOfWisdomForReal in my defense, I was trying to say that I like GTA 3 as a game more than GTA San Andreas
Ahh now that I can get behind. From a technical standpoint, 3 is inferior in every way, but that doesn't mean it can't be someone's favourite. San Andreas is my favourite game, but it isn't the "best" game ever. It couldn't be, due to the time in which it was created and the limited hardware it was created on. Yet there is no game I love more
if u see as a cozy farming monster tamer game, most of those flawns becames natural mechanics. Dosnt look like a game to be rushed, just raise your babies and eventually evolve
This game looks fun. I hope ot doesn't get abandoned
It wasn't abandoned! The game got a full release in 2022 and was received well. Only 12 bucks on steam, would recommend picking it up
I wonder if there where released as free to play there would be more successul. At least that's the feel this games have. In fact the graphics are from Pokémon Rumble, which is also a small spin-off too.
Great video, i cant wait to blitz your content! Though i have to say, i played dusk so much when i was younger…i just find it interesting that they never seemed to get the concept correct for the Digimon story games. They would fix some problems and just introduce new ones lmao maybe out of spite? Digimon team has always had trouble locking in i guess. Still love the games though
Thank you🫡 Loved making this video. Digimon overall is such a... series of missed opportunities I guess. Every game has a lot of features I love, but equally as many head scratchers. I enjoy pretty much every game to an extent, but always wonder how far these games could have gone without a mixed bag of ideas. If they're this fun already without being perfect, I can only imagine...
"Low FPS" is a better description here than "lag"
Just use a cheat code for money
Boring
My biggest problem is how stupid this game's AI is. If you change tactics to Follow Me the other Pokemon dont help you, if you change it to Let's Go Together they always get behind and throw themselves to death. They're always getting out of their way to grab items and leaving you. Not to mention wasting ranged moves when the enemy Pokemon is literally in front of it. The original wasn't like that.
I think, the GTA 4 is the best GTA game, but my favourite game of all time will be the GTA SA (I hate, that Ryder became a traitor. That is a nonsense thing. They could write out Ryder much better.). The R* can't create a game like this again. The only game, that can race with this game, at least for me is the Saints Row 2.
GTA 4 is crazy from a technical perspective, but cannot reproduce that authentic adventure-like feeling San Andreas was able to on the limited hardware of the PS2. Rockstar's game design has changed a lot over the years and even if they could potentially recreate the experience of San Andreas (which I indeed doubt), the direction they have chosen suggests they likely never will. Such a shame. Also Ryder becoming a traitor was a clear afterthought. After "the green sabre" CJ only mentions Big Smoke in the betrayal related dialogue and Ryder gets 2 more voicelines in the entirety of the game after you catch him hanging with Ballas. Not to mention his voicelines when he jumps into the water before you kill him sounding like it was meant for a tragic death cutscene after a huge shootout or something. I really don't think Ryder was meant to be bad in SA's initial design
@@WordsOfWisdomForReal Yup, the voice lines for Ryder after the Green Sabre mission, are reused from the Ryder missions. All of them. There's a mod, that can fix that problem btw. The mod change's Ryder's model to another Ballas, or B Dup, or some others skin on the Green Sabre mission, so the reveal, when CJ realize that Ryder is a traitor, will be in the Photo opportunity mission.
Yeah I figured they were reused. I read it has to do with Ryder's voice-actor, MC Eight, backing out due to contract agreements. He wanted a payraise and didn't get it from Rockstar. It's why they gave up on getting celebrities to voice GTA's characters moving forward. The modding option is cool, but feels wrong after being so familiar with the OG experience, as flawed as that might be.
@@WordsOfWisdomForReal I played the og game for years, but currently, honestly, we need to mod the game. The Silentpatch is required for a great experince. I have the original game twice, and i have two backup versions too, one european, and an american, cracked 1.0 version, and I made different modpacks too. A remastered, and a so called "Fun" Andreas. :D And I have atleast 15 modded GTA SA on my hard drive.
I am currently playing through SA again for my next video and I am using 7 mods to resemble the look of the Playstation 2, no other adjustments. In my humble opinion the game should be enjoyed WITH its flaws, it's part of the experience and authentic to how Rockstar crafted the game at the time. QoL mods are great, but with SA I truly don't want or need any😬
Please showcase the other stuff
Hello, I am here to let anyone reading this know I have just uploaded a much better version of this video. Watch it here ruclips.net/video/T5Rn-DX0T58/видео.htmlsi=_MVwyB_vqzx-bPct
All of these digimon story games for the ds made one step forward and three backwards
They are by no means unenjoyable, but damn do they have some glaring issues indeed
You didn't bring up the "auto play" they added. And personally, I didn't like the universal experience share. I get that it's beneficial for trying to level up unused pokemon, but I found it way to powerful as I had mid-30s level Ratatatas when my starter was only in the mid-20s and was ALWAYS on my team. It just removes the connection to the pokemon you get when training them, in my opinion. If the EXP Share was set to like 10%, then I'd have been fine, but as is, it's way to powerful and I hate that they don't let you turn it off at all. For me, that really ruins the game.
GTA San Andreas looks and runs better on the OG Xbox than on PS2, as do most games that released on these two 6th gen consoles.
True, but the PS2 version is still a technical marvel and we even have the OG orange haze, plus the hot coffee code on the OG disc which can be activated and seen for yourself with a jailbroken PS3 and some save editing programs. Drawbacks for me on Xbox are the loading bar and the “blue” / “crystal” atmosphere of the later versions. I DO also have the Xbox version and I love it, but 3 and Vice City were better on Xbox no doubt visually and technically too. I’ve played the PS2 and Xbox versions of all of them, PS2 takes me back to my childhood more even with the drawbacks
You invested in a capture card yet?
If I told you I didn't, would you be angry
How to beat Reshef in one single step:Cheat.
Bland the bosses kick my butt!!! SCREW YOU
In some game design, moves are designed as items, even if they aren't used as one. What I suspect is that the Item-Throw Orb is activated via the menu, followed by the Move. But without the inventory item being selected, has nothing to throw, as the Orb/Move has no selected item. Good video!
You bloody mad man 😱 noooo... I'm so watching this later 👍🏾
This video is really bad, but I hope you'll have a good time watching regardless lol
Great video too...i love how you take your time explaining the good & bad. Greatness overall ❤
Thank you mate. Really loved making this one and I am happy with how it turned out. Glad you enjoyed (and found out about the existence of Battle Through Time)!
I must be the luckiest person in the world. Because i had came across two bugs when I played the pa2 one. I didn't know it had that many & i didn't know about the newest game too.
Nayuta isnt very similar to Gurumin, Zwei 2 however is, from how you collect coins, get high scores in dungeon, the artstyle, humor, even the protagonist Ragna looks a lot like Parin. Play Zwei 2 its fantastic
I haven't played Gurumin in a long while but I think youre deeply wrong about Cylinder. At the end of the game it was revealed all his advances were nonsexual. If you pay attention to his dialogue I dont think he says anything about Parin being attractive he just keeps saying "date" over and over, probably misusing the word. I remember it being the first example of Falcoms stellar npc writing ive experienced. You had such a emotional kneejerk reaction to him that you ignored his dialogue. Basically Falcom played you and others for a fool
I have to disagree. Cylinder was clearly written to be the creep of the town, with very uncomfortable and obvious innuendos like him forcing his ''sweaty parts'' on you (when getting drill parts). Even if it was all revealed to be nonsexual (where is this even revealed?), he was clearly written to be a reoccuring SA/SH joke, something that is part of Japanese culture's sense of humor. The entire way this guy was written is just very off putting and sticks out like a sore thumb in a game I truly enjoyed. It's not stellar writing, it's a gag in poor taste.
I refuse to belive this game already is 4 years old
IKR. Time is passing so fast after the pandemic.
I’ve picked up the game again after a good few years of not playing, my God is it worth is lol I’m up to Ho-oh and Lugia and jirachci rn. I forgot how fun this game was.
Battle Through Time had no right being as good as it was since most cartoon tie-in games end up being bad (there are some good ones like Simpsons Hit and Run, Ben 10 Protector of Earth, Battle of Bikini Bottom, South Park Stick of Truth) as well as Soleil having an inconsistent record But Genndy wanting to be more hands on so that the game feels more like his show (He said he wasn't a huge fan of several aspects of the PS2 game) and Soleil having former Ninja Gaiden devs work on the gameplay (the difficulty spike and aspects of the upgrading are heavily inspired by those) prevented it from being another irredeemable turd My nitpick though is that even though the game looks great, I wish it had more cel-shaded elements cause at times the models have that generic UE vibe to them, i also wish there were actual alternate costumes from the show's history outside his bearded look
With Soleil's mixed bag of games and odd game design choices within those games, I didn't expect Battle Through Time to work as well as it does (even if it's not perfect by any means). The PS2 game was a chore to play through at times and I was happy to see they figured out what did and didn't work within those 16 years of absence, so they'd have a quality comeback. Shame Warner Bros. is... doing Warner Bros. things. Even if I don't feel it necessarily takes away too much (if anything at all) from the game, I'd agree with your nitpick. Having alternate Jacky boy forms, especially considering he's traveling through various eras, would have fit the game like a glove. And yeah, if there is anything the PS2 version proved, it's that cel shading provides value when translating a cartoon to a 3D videogame. However, much of that is nullified by the fantastic translation of their mannerisms and animations, which is why I don't mind the generic vibe typa models as much.
Samurai Jack was one of my favourite shows growing up. A story about a lonesome yet determined samurai, helping one civilization at a time to eventually defeat the evil that is Aku. Thanks to its success, it would eventually end up receiving 3 licensed videogames. All of which would fall victim to the Licensed Game Treatment in one way or another. So uh, let’s talk about em :)
The only reason gta sa is the best gta of all time is simple, offline gaming is better than online gaming when the game, itself,is created that way. Online gaming has ruined the others because more thought went into the online version. Gta 5 offline was crap but 4 was good.
Oh wow, I didn't know you made a video on Trails. I played this last september and had an absolute blast. I really need to get to the second game.
I plan to cover every single game after loving this first entry as much as I did. My schedule for the year is packed, but I hope to get to the second game near the end of 2024. That cliffhanger ending had me craving for more. Amazing game
Pinning a message after 5 years: I felt like playing through Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required again and thus I did in fact play through the entire thing on my second channel. Figured I might as well self promo if anyone's even remotely interested: ruclips.net/video/QpOXAePbRe0/видео.html Aight that's all I got, later
Honestly the removal of physical friend zones is so sad
The "favorite" mechanic in the friend areas just keeps that pokemon at the top of the list for that friend area. Normally it sorts in pokedex order, but "favorites" bypass that to stay at the top of the list. Can be sort-of useful if you have some friend areas full of pokemon, and also frequently-used teammates somewhere in the list. Digging through that list can get annoying.
9:20 er, not the word i'd use but whatever. :/
still after almost 7 years this fixed my problem tysm <3
