I can totally relate to everything!! I can go into total meltdown for days because of little things which are so insignificant to others like a Cloth to clean my microwave I had out on the side being moved by my Support Worker somewhere and disappearing. Just recently with Toilet Roll Gate I purchased another brand of toilet roll due to stock shortages in Sainsbury's and it turns out that I do not like the crinkly feeling or weird smell it produces. I've still got some of my normal Sainsbury's Soft Toilet Roll but my Support Worker decided to mix the two together in the cupboard which annoyed me! I'm using it as I've bought it but I can't wait to finish it to go back to the normal one. It's unsettling while I used it. I used to scream and go crazy when I was a child with things similar to what you mentioned re lunch box. It happens now with frustration when things people do to help the situation are not explained

I have a lot of anxiety, it's mainly health related and connected to my OCD. I also am a perfectionist and worry a lot about not doing things right or correctly. Noise makes me anxious as it distracts me and makes it harder for me to move from task to task, which disrupts my sense of order. I worry about people I like leaving me. Yes, it's endless.

I started to properly mask as a teenager. I thought I had to fit in and I was aware of what was acceptable at that age. Lately I am starting to slightly not mask in public. i.e. flapping hands when stressed and not inhibiting when people are around. I still mask, though, even with my support worker to some extent. It can make me feel quite vulnerable to be my flappy self with people around, but I'm working on it.

Autism's individual I still mask too sometimes. It does feel safer that way - especially if I’m with people who I think won’t understand me and judge me as rude or bad. I feel like I need change myself to make things easier for their sake... thanks for sharing your story💝 take care

I didn't know this was a problem that existed. I'm not sure I could compare to my own problems of accounting for why I feel uncomfortable trying to express my feelings. I do feel comfortable saying this to you though because I see you, I see your eyes, I feel empathic, and saddened seeing you so effect this way. I almost want to say "I love you" your eyes are kind, and I see the sadness. I wish I could find a person who could see all they need to see thru my eyes. I avoided conflict, and if I couldn't I shut down, ultimately leading me to feel I was the cause and have it snowboll into a relationship but one of being on eggshells. I love you, you are strong

I'm 44, and I recently received an autism diagnosis. When I was a kid, my mom was told by an "expert" that I would be unable to succeed in college or live independently. Thankfully, my mom didn't listen to him, and she never lowered her expectations of me. As a result, I'm the first college graduate in my family, and I've been living independently for most of my adulthood.

I feel so related. You can have an idea. It sucks when you are in so much pain and people seem like OK and inside you, you feel like burning or needles, and they say: you are exagerating! you are being a lot paranoid! you need to STOP. STOP is what they need when we need silence. I am doing my best here to get medical assistance since I have none. and then I will start spreading the word about autism, or during. I am 31 yo and I am suffering like hell my existance. I feel all your words deep in my heart for I have been in that place everyday. Love you Joely, don't give up. We don't give up. I am with you and you with me. Hugs.

This is amazing Joely! 😃. I get this all the time especially lately from a so-called trained psychiatrist who puts on a discharge letter as she won't refer me to the Maudsley he might have personality disorder? It's absolutely crazy that a professional can write that on a discharge letter all because I want to try and get the medical help I need. I get this from others closer to me too but won't mention names as I'm going to share this on Facebook e t c and don't want them knowing. Keep this V loging / youtubing up it's brilliant 😃

My big interest was Kate Winslet and the Titanic - 10 years long. I memorised Titanic off by heart and knew every single detail of Winslet's life and her family. Was also very interested in babies after she had a child, Mia. Currently it's cooking (although food was a major passion as a kid too - I memorised the content of every child's lunchbox at school!), philosophical /psychological themed books, and autism!! I love the fact autism is your major subject too!. My interests have always been a positive part of my autism, and have helped me overcome a lot of anxiety (even to the extent of performing on stage because of Kate Winslet!). Keep doing these videos!. I love the positive theme. Staying away from toxic people helps and filling your life with those who understand and are supportive.

This is really interesting. I have been gaslighted by another autistic person, which was doubly hurtful as I expected they would understand. They said I didn't try hard enough, that I did not care, that my personality had changed. This was after I had opted out of attending a meeting due to my autism needs. I wonder if internalised ableism intersects here too?
