As an ex Adventist atheist, I just watched to reflect on the way Adventist pastors still do things the same. I helped build our church from scratch. My hand print is still in the sidewalk from 1961. Some of my very best friends from childhood, marriage, raising 4 very sweet daughters, and now both are dead, one daughter dead, and another stricken and paralyzed on one side. There is only one couple remaining there whom I knew from my childhood years. My atheism is not about judging the hypocrisy of anyone, but about searching for evidence and truth. None of us choose what to believe. It’s impossible. We go through life experiencing and observing, hopefully reading extensively, and contemplating. As time goes on, we reach conclusions naturally. I studied with NO PURPOSE to become atheist. It happened naturally. The lack of evidence proved to me that there was not enough to convince me a god exists. I actually felt free. Free from judgement, from condemnation, and from guilt. I no longer believe in sin. I believe in evil and that we choose to be evil or good. Nothing changed in my life. I still don’t drink, have never used illegal drugs, I don’t steal or commit adultery. I’m the same person I always was. I’m still compassionate, live my family, am a good neighbor, despise the guy who represents 2Timothy 3, and monthly donate funds to my favorite charities. I’m not evil, have no agenda against any gods, do not respect a Satan the I do not acknowledge, and do not believe in anything supernatural. I love to discuss history, science, religion, space, and politics. I support Ukraine and despise Russia. I have a huge problem with Judges 19, 20, and 21, your god giving his nod of approval for an Israeli civil war THREE TIMES, then watching from the sidelines while they chop over a million of each other to bloody pieces…all because they did not complete the genocide of the original habitants of the land. And what they had to do to appease your good was horrible and resulted in the killing of even more Israelis, their wives and children who had NO SAY in a male dominated society. Then got more wives by lying about putting 600 young virgins in a field and having men steal them for wives. Christians do not look at any of this killing as evil. And use the events to purport a loving and just god. I cannot buy that sort of demonstrable injustice. I just had to comment. I find that god a terrible unjust psychopathic killer.
