Nahash The Ammonite (1 Samuel 11:1-15)
Good morning, Peter and family
You showed a portrait of William Gadsby at 1:21:40. Doesn't he look a lot like Don Fortner?
Yes. I imagine they may have sounded similar, too. Certainly their gospel doctrine was hewn from the same rock.
@@NewFocusChurchOnline So nice to receive a reply from you. Thank you.
Peter, Did you know that the phrase, "stopped my wild career", used by Henry Pace in the hymn you read, is actually a phrase originally written by John Newton in his hymn entitled, "In Evil Long I Took Delight", Olney Hymnal 1779? An aside, this Newton hymn was quoted by Don Fortner in one of his sermons. That's how I became aware of it, came to know it and love it. I am so grateful to have been blessed by the life and ministry of Pastor Fortner. I'm sure many in your congregation will say, "Yea and Amen", to that. Being a preacher of "free and sovereign grace" joins Don together with Henry Pace, with John Newton and even with yourself. And so, the Kingdom of Christ is continually renewed and refreshed to the coming of Christ again.
I've seen that phrase in Newton's hymn but I had not connected the two. Thanks for pointing that out. I suspect I've found in you one who appreciates these old hymns and their writers as much as I do. It is a Bible truth that the Lord will not leave himself without a witness ... Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
@@NewFocusChurchOnline Newton wrote, "In evil long I took delight, Unawed by shame or fear; Till a new object struck my sight, And stopped my wild career. I saw One hanging on a tree, In agonies and blood; Who fixed His languid eyes on me, As near His cross I stood." The realization of the "sacred hymn poem" - that is, the hymn words published without a specific melody assigned (as in Gadsby's Hymns) - was a profound and exciting new discovery for me in my Christian life. I only had seen hymnals with the music notation and words printed together. It was this very hymn that prompted me to begin writing original melodies for some of the great hymn poems of the past. I wanted folks to know the words by being able to sing them. God grant that I may again devote myself to this work, which was "stopped" due to responsibilities of family and daily life. May God have mercy on me.
Thank you Peter in our saviours name
Good singing!!
Hi Peter, preach on brother. X
Peter I am here but not doing well. I will re-watch the service later this afternoon while I sit in parking garage in the car and wait on my son to do his carpet job.
Good morning from the Opheims
Hi Peter, from Lexington, Ky
All the election of grace is and the elect is all those who have lived after the life, ministry and crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are living in the election of grace right now. We are the elect whether we choose to live in that grace or move from elect into the position of grace accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior is our choice...God Bless
Very clear and helpful sermon, Praise God.
Hello Peter! Long time no see or speak!
Thank you for your message from Colin and Merrin IN AUSTRALIA
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. 'Lovely' sermon, a delight to hear..
God willing, we'll tune in. Thanks.
Worked for us. See you at 4.30
Great message, Peter. My heart was blessed by the clear presentation of the gospel of God's grace. I especially liked your point that even though we do not pay for God's grace, it is by no mean free; God's grace cost the Son of God His life! (Joe Terrell)
Dear Pastor Meney, Thank you for your hearty welcome to us to visit Grand Rapids : )) I have deleted the original message, thinking that perhaps such a discussion is better conducted privately. I understand your answer to my question. We really appreciate the magazine you publish. We will continue to view your online services. God's richest blessings to all His Own in Grand Rapids and all points beyond.
Hello Kathleen. You are welcome to email me privately. I assume you have my email address from what you write above, or can easily get it. You may then choose to delete this whole thread. Just a quick point for clarification: we are in Great Falls, MT.. Grand Rapids is a long way off.
@@NewFocusChurchOnline Oops. Thank you for that clarification.
"Hallelujah! What a Saviour!"
