Quest to find The Old Connally Grist Mill In East Point Ga.
Просмотров 1172 года назад
We had 3 attempts on finding this Grist Mill, two failed. Found out we were looking in the wrong part of the creek. It was a rough exploration the area were looking in was so overgrown and so hard to move about, really a rough task. But finally on the final attempt we were successful. We Went back to try and identify graves we could hardly see the writing. Using a trick of spreading flower over the words, it was amazing what it revealed. Some of the people buried there date back to the 1700's. I have lived near this cemetery for over 40 years and never knew it existed, East Point Historical Society: www.eastpointgahs.org

This park is home to some of the oldest trees around. The town of East Point was founded in early to mid 1800's. Some of these trees are old as 300 yrs. The property is believed to be part of the Connally Plantation dating back to the Civil War. It is a very cool place to visit and you won't be disappointed. E mail Dale.pickens@gmail.com. Exploring Ft Widerness Campground and Tri Circle D Ranch
Thanks for the lovely video. I really enjoy the scenery and I wish Bluegreen could have removed some of the trees so we as owners could Truly enjoy the mountains and everything else that is to enjoy ❤
Looks lovely there, the sort of place you can go off and relax in. I love being in the countryside, you can switch off to daily life and unwind.
My wife and i love the Mountains, and the coast and we go to either every chance we Get. I would really love to visit your coast its beautiful.
Thank you...is the Elevation high?
It's really good views but the elevation it's so bad. Just a steep coming up past the club house but nothing how it is to get to the cabins
It is a little steep but i didn't have any problems.
My dad used to work there it's so good espaily wakola springs
I love a good springs, The fountains is a great place.
This is in my literal back yard. I live on Plantation Drive! So cool. Thanks for sharing.
This is in my neighborhood. I love going here! Thanks for sharing.
Evergo banana fan
Thanks for sharing this video, we're new owners and wanted a visual of this place❤
is this through a timeshare promotion with bluegreen or an actual timeshare?
It's one of the actual timeshare properties through Bluegreen who's now brought out by Hilton just recently.
I guess you could call it that, or a vacation club. I haven't heard about Hilton buying it out. I'm late hearing about most things.
Very interesting, waiting for your next Adventure .
Did they remove the headstones? Wow! Have y’all ever been to the lake over there off of Delowe? You cross over Campbelton Rd and it’s across from a golf course. Very pretty out there
I thank that use to be Adams Park. It's been many moons since I been there. but I remember it being nice. A popular parking place back in the day.
I believe these people are my ancestors slave owners. A lot of my family is from Georgia and are still down there today. Black slaves off the plantation did adopt the last name connally which is my family name.
It would be even better if that internet was worth connecting to. I’ve only been to two parks in about 50 that were worth trying
Time will tell, There is no signal of any kind there now in the camp ground, phone service is almost nothing. BUT, it is a beautiful place.
@@pickenupthepieces8843 yeah I know you have to go up by the lake to get much of anything or Verizon has 2 bars in sites 21-31
Thank you for sharing!
Amazing production. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Gary, Vogel holds special memories for all of us.
True story about the falls.
It was definitely a good time. I think I could still do it. Not.
This one was a huge let down for me. I don’t usually do resorts type places. It’s just aggravating to me that this was close to be perfect but the front of most sites face the road and the beautiful lake is behind you
We are headed here this weekend and it was so nice to watch your video to see how the campground was set up before we get there!
Looks as if Edward scissors hand did the job himself
Edward did a good job, thanks for watching
Wow I know exactly where this place is. Very nice of them letting y’all come in. Hello kitty. I found a new place for y’all to visit as well
Where prat tell?
@@pickenupthepieces8843 how do I send the pictures to you

You hit the jackpot at 6:35 on video. You’ll have to show me this waterfall
Is there anyway to get down there by the waterfall to take pictures
You can get there, but it is really grown up you could wade up the creek, however you can get close enough to get a picture and I will be happy to go with you.
Hello family, I have a special guest down here. Would love to meet up with y’all tomorrow or Saturday for lunch. Maybe Chick fil A tomorrow and Mary Macs Saturday. Just let me know. I’m shocked to see deer track in your neck of the woods. Lol younger 😂.
Ola, como vai?
I am fine thank you. Thank you for watching my Video.
This is great! Thank You!
CAN I VISIT OR DO i NEED PERMISSION?
Hi. Friend.
Hello Friend, Hope you are having a good day.
Very interesting history .neglected graves. . family died off probably.
Hello, I came across this video today in my feed. Not sure if I’m related to all connallys of this world ... but I am a second cousin of John Connally The Governor of Texas . I would love to know more about my family . I am 53 years. My Grandpa was Chuck Connally .. I had an Aunt Sissy ... she was a Connally too. This is very cool to me . It raised an eyebrow for sure ! Thanks a bunch .
I don't know a lot about this family, I live off a street here in a burb of Atlanta called called Connally in East Point, I decided to do a little digging and came across this grave yard near my house, There is the ruins of a Connally Gris mull here on a near by creek, and I found the location of the Connally Plantation, I also found out the original Connally acquired the land from the Indians. I don't know any more than that. There is a link above in the description to the East Point Historical Society. It might give you more info you are looking for You can also contact then on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM. Hope this helps.
Dale if you go off to the right of the main cemetery there are many older graves scattered through that little patch of woods if it hasn’t been disturbed over the years, some were just hand etched stones, some were caved in. But they’re there
Thanks Bill, we will go back later in the year. We want to avoid the Snakes, we could see others under the Ivy and will need to do some digging to get them visible, Thanks for the heads up. Do you know of other historical spots that are hidden in East Point and the Tri City area? Good to hear from you.
We both did old cemetery videos on the same day, I am glad I am not the only one that likes to do this, I am definitely watching
My father, born in 1905, was raised in East Point, and it was always his understanding that this was a virgin forest.
Very possibly Jim, if it is that is very unusual for a city to be that close. However those trees are very old. Check our my videos on the Connally Cemetery, we found one grave dated in the 1700's. That video will be released in a few days. Subscribe to my channel and hit the notification bell and you will know when it is released. Thanks for watching Jim.
The tombstone at 13:38 was beautifully carved. Almost looks like puzzle pieces on the top. Great job on finding this location. I have more for you to visit. There’s one on the corner of Constitution Rd & Forrest Park Rd. It’s also overgrown now. But most of the cemetery has had the tombstones removed and had an apartment complex built over it
Thanks I will try to get to it soon, Its fun hunting down history and find out what once was. Thanks for watching, I have made note of the placed you mentioned and will get to them. Thanks for watching.
I was just watching your new video then it got took down. If you’re into stuff like that I have a few more local spots for you to check out. Give me a minute and I’ll put the addresses below
Such a beautiful area
That is a fat tree
Its a really Fat tree.
I was sent over from Jdubb vlogs, I will be in Atlanta for my other channel mostly, while doing a RUclips Co-op, meet up with her, I would like to meet you with her, to do a RUclips meet up video
We live about two blocks from that nature preserve. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to walk that nature preserve in the summer because the trails are overgrown with poison ivy. Another sad thing is that those very large very old oak trees are in the last years of their life. If you go during the height of Summer you will see that very few of the branches have leaves on them which is a sure sign that the tree is coming to its end.
They are very old, and have withstood history and each one has a story I wish I could hear. One day they will all be gone but we have some pictures to show people of what they looked like when they were at the peak of their glory. I hope to return this summer to see them with leaves and record them as they are then, Thank you for watching my video. I hope you will subscribe to the Channel cause I hope to have more videos of East Point soon.
Beautiful some are really tall and others very thick. Thanks I really enjoyed working this.
Glad you enjoyed it Bruce. I hope to have more videos of East Point soon, and other places in Ga. If you subscribe to the channel you will be notified when they are posted. Thanks for watching.
