I’ve heard that from some friends as well. I think it’s becoming a more common allergy. One of my nieces has to wash her hands after playing with the rats due to being allergic to the bedding and if she rubs her face she will break out poor thing

I would encourage you to watch this video. As paper bedding is one of the worst options for rats due to its terrible ammonia control and high concentrations of very tiny dust particles. Though the part about baking soda in the litter is old info and has been updated in a different video about litter. The BEST bedding for Pet Rats ruclips.net/video/7_57cfaG07k/видео.html Pine or hemp would be good options to try if allergic to aspen. Some people can find spruce and fir bedding as well which are also safe.

They both preform equally well in lab tests. But i liked how the aspen smelled better for a long time. Lately though i like the pine better. My rats dont seem to mind either way thankfully. So long as they can move it around and dig they are happy babies

Kaytee kills pets because the designs of their cages and tunnels are made to appeal to children rather than based on pets needs 9/10. They are a company that preys on impulse purchasing pets and i am firmly against that. If you google “kaytee kills pets” you will find all kinds of info from people who had pets die in kaytee caging and the company did not care a bit 😭

His litter was nicknamed the potato chips! 🤣

This wheel is long gone. None of the rats would use it. But the comment is helpful for others! My newer DIY wheel (in a recent short) is much better and the rats love it

These cages are actually quite large. Are they smaller than a critter nation? Yes. A little. But they allow all the same behaviors, and provide for my rats needs. They exceed minimums in my country by more than double as well. They are easy to clean, decorate, and my rats can be accessed easily. They can climb, dig, forage, play, and sleep, and i rotate what is in them often. As a not tiny human i can fit inside them. Thanks for watching and caring though 🥰

@@RatRandomness It did help, still struggled a bit but was able to heal up her eye in 3 days and we didn't even need to finish the antibiotics. Now a week later her eye is completely fine. Thanks :)

Best to wait then. When dependent on a parent approval the pets always suffer. Parents will control when you get to the vet, how often, how many rats to get and when, what food/bedding/cage you get or more. That’s sadly just what i have seen in the community in the last 6 years. Wait till you have full control over your life and you won’t regret it

I prefer 1/2 so i can clip things to it. 1/4 is too fine and makes that harder. You could still use pipe cleaners but would have to buy small lanyard clips if you wanted to use those
