how do i get it to idle higher? When in gear, I'm sitting at 600 rpm and it's not producing enough juice for the high output amp to charge the battery unless I'm >1K rpm.
I would imagine you could adjust the throttle cable to make it tighter. Might take a few tries before you get it where u want
Half a mpg more, ha ha! These engines are pretty much bomb proof when taken care of, but in no way mpg champs! Nice video, might try this on my friends ‘99.
Wish you showed how to take those cables off
I don’t know how people are doing this successfully.. I did it and the TB shaft binds up because now the washer that spaces it is now in contact with the TB housing
The washer you're using is too thick.
I just used a snap ring . Didn’t need to take off as much
mine has 250k miles and its cleann🤌🏻
I did this and it worked very well. My idle went from 1600 to 700. Thank you!
When you're was idling high, would your 4runner lunge forward when you would go from park to drive?
Здравствуйте, подскажите чем красили воздушный коллектор?
lol damnit, just replaced my IAC and STILL have high idle, found this video went out and yanked on my throttle springs, and boom, idle fixed! this is my problem!!
Or leaky valve covers..
How do you remove the spring ? Do you just use a big pry bar and pry it out the grooves from the ends ?
Just clean your IAC VALVE.
How to replace the clutch spring
Dyna tomato 1997
You can easily clean the idle control Valve in this engine.
My 1996 345k miles sr5 3.4 doesn’t even have a check engine light on 😎 payed 1k for it i fixed it and walla!
I see vid posted 6 years ago...did the fix keep the idle problem away, or did it turn out to be something else?
Outstanding!! Simple But Very Useful And Apparently Very Effective!! Thanks For Caring And Sharing!!!!
Thanks sir. Every one I spoke too asumed my 1997 4r sr5 3400 had 6 coils. And I was just trying to figuer that out. It only has 3 coil pack that serve 6 cylenders.
Awesome - thanks for sharing - you got me squared away as well!!!
Um hell no there’s always these numb heads trying to reinvent the wheel. What’s your doing is complete safety hazard. Toyota would not do that they get sued for it
Worked perfectly. Way cool bro. Thank you. Great video.
My clutch used to squeak, then stopped, and a day or two after that, the clutch doesn't work. It stays too close to the floor to function. Think I just need to replace the spring?
It's probably the clutch master cylinder. Or slave cylinder.
Algun traductor urgente
Is this for a v6
It is a V6, but that shouldn't matter.
Yes we seen it about 10 times just get to the point put a washer in there and call it good you don't have to tell your whole life story
You rock men
Any idea if you could remove the pedal without removing the entire clutch pedal assembly?
Sorry, no idea.
Ur a genius!!! Solved my wifes 4runner high idle problem immediately!
Genius comment
Please give me info on cylinder to cylinder spark plug wire from coil pack to cylinder # on driver side
Very helpful video. I will try mine this week.
You ARE THE BEST!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Tanks 👏💪👍🙏👌😃
This video was valuable to me today. It made me take closer look @ kick down cable on my 96 Limited. To my surprise adjustment was to tight which occurred over 7 years ago when I changed valve cover gaskets. Ive done lots of work since then such as replacing fuel injectors etc every thing ran good so I left adjustment alone up until today. I made adjustment to spec & within half mile after doing so ECU cleaned up providing Improved acceleration much smoother transmission shift.
I have to admit, perfect!! I bought all of the bushings to redo the clutch on my newly purchased 2000 Tacoma only to find out that the clutch bracket/return spring saddle were completely worn thru by longtime friction. The bushings were $48 and I didn’t even cost out a new clutch, new mounting bracket….my guess, way over $200. I found this video and evaluated weather or not it would work for me. Upon investigation, there was a tab with a hole perfectly situated to hold a spring….as if by design. Being old school, I have a plastic jar with many springs from years gone by; perfect spring, perfect extension made from stout wire, perfect fix! Thanks a bunch for your video! At a minimum you saved me $48 but replacing the bracket and the pedal would’ve easily brought that up to $300. Designed obsolescence in vehicles is for the name brand manufacturer to take your money.
crazy how this video got recommended to me years later, anyways for me to fix when my high idle is to loosen the tension on throttle cable by adjusting the nuts that keeps them secure, kinda play with it until you get the proper RPM you want, also change my spark plugs and good tune up basically. My 4Runner idles at like 6-700 lol very smooth. My 01 taco that i used to have idles at around 900 in thought it was a beast too, i think it was higher because it had K&N CAI, and maybe idk what im talking about lol
can i adjust IAC valve?
@@MM-sw1lo i mean…the cable is literally what control that valve for open and close…i think lol
Been thinking of doing this with a deck plate. 😁 thanks for the video.
I have a high idle I can't bring down from just taking this off
Awesome
Gracias amigo de que tamaño es la rondana que se pone?
Was your high idle in park and neutral or all the time?
I know right? My high idle is in park and neutral at 1500, but in drive it's 1000.
My 97 4Runner Idles at 1500 rpm in Park and Neutral even once hot -- does anyone know the normal idle in Park and Neutral once the engine is warmed up? Thanks for your video.
The repair manual says " Idle Speed: 700 +/- 50
This the first time i hear about it im gana try it asoon as i get home
Very helpful DIY video. But how did you get the engine bay so nice and clean? 🤔
Nice clean motor bro!
what is happening is it is sucking air though the rod when u pull it tight it gets a little bit of new service on the rod and seals the leak
I just did this to my Tacoma and used the linear spring for the 2.7 4 cylinder, pn# 90507-14030, there is also a tab welded on the dashboard reinforcement bar for the spring so you don't have to attach it to the top of the clutch pedal bracket like you did and it gives it a straighter shot to the pin on the pedal. Its hard to find but it is up there hidden pretty good. Check out Tacoma World and there should be some picutres of this mod in the forums. I also went a step further and removed the tab with the notch for the old torsin spring because it would hit the linear spring when you pushed on the pedal, you have to take the pedal and bracket to do that.
My 99” 4Runner limited had the same issue, new tps sensor, gaskets, IAC. Wound up being a burnt ECM 🤦🏻♂️, fixed it for $250
I've been going through this same process of elimination, replacing everything, for about two years...no engine code just intermittent weirdness. Just replaced the IAC, which starts now, but high idle. I have not tried TPS, which I will do because the symptoms are precise. Will possibly do the fuel pressure sensor, if tps doesn't work, although I do suspect it's the ECM. Read it was ECM on another thread that was having the same issue...🤞
@@emc4685 I’m having high idle issues and the 4runner doesn’t want to start after shut off sometimes. It never threw a code till the other day 2 codes TPS and EMC. I haven’t replaced either yet.
Did you consider switching to the larger '99+ interior panel with the larger door? Would be similarly priced at a junkyard, and once you cut out the box inside you have the same amount of space
Good idea. Hadn't considered that, but it could work too.
@@glasgowvids that's what I did. Looks like you found a cool solution on your own though!
What cable is missing in the slot next to the throttle cable? Do you need it?
Fleximous III kick down cable for the transmission. He might have a manual
248,000 miles on my originals. Start my project tomorrow. Thanx for info
