Hello Ewe - they currently range from $550k to $3.4 million. The $3.4 million is really an outlier. Most are closer to the $1 million plus or minus.

I prefer the float tube, personally. As the water cools the bigger brown trout start to congregate in the lake near the mouth of the creek and move up the creek to spawn. That is typically in late October and November.

@@dennisriccio7677 Thanks for the info! Is the water level of the lake close to the mouth high enough to get near the fish without spooking them? In google maps the creek seems like a super thin water...

I am in the process of buying (hopefully) a condo in the Bison Ranch area, so on the way up there through Payson I saw many signs about lakes, campgrounds, etc. and wished I had more info on the area. Your videos will be a blessing as you continue to do more. For us "visual" learners your clips are great ads for the beauty of the area!

Unfortunately it is closed for the 2022 year due to the fire last year. When it open parts of the creek can be reached from Strawberry, but the waterfall area must be accessed from the Camp Verde entrance do to a previous road collapse. DUE TO A CLIFF COLLAPSE ONTO FOSSIL CREEK ROAD, THE FOSSIL CREEK WATERFALL TRAIL IS NO LONGER ACCESSABLE BY VEHICLE FROM STRAWBERRY HEADING WEST ON FOSSIL CREEK ROAD. FOSSIL CREEK ROAD IS CLOSED BETWEEN BOB BEAR TRAILHEAD (FORMERLY KNOWN AS FOSSIL SPRINGS TRAILHEAD) AND THE FOSSIL CREEK WATERFALL TRAILHEAD. Instead those looking to reach the Fossil Creek Waterfall Trailhead from Phoenix, Payson, Pine, or Strawberry must travel north on Highway 87 to highway 260, and then left on Highway 260 for 24 miles to the Fossil Creek Road Turnoff between mile markers 228 & 229 and follow the rugged 14 miles dirt road to the Fossil Creek Waterfall Trailhead.

Once you reach the trailhead how far of a hike?

​@cl7241 it depends. There are different areas to park, with different trails and "pools". I'd say there is about 20 different "pools", with maybe 5 to 7 areas to park. If you come up through Verde Valley, near the bridge is a good spot, but there are many more the further you go up the road. The trails are fairly clear. The furthest hike is about 2-1/2 miles, from the main parking to the main waterfall. Have fun 👍

There are homes right on the lake, but these are for Salt River Project employees. The available real estate for Roosevelt Lake is in Tonto Basin which is just a few minutes north and west of the lake.

the average high in December is around 55 degrees. It snows occasionally, but melts within the next day or two because it does not stay below freezing.
