Resilience vs Prepping (Just Start Small)
Thanks for sharing! Brussels sprouts are one of the best cold hardy brassicas. They do great in the cold/cool weather and not so great in the hot summer months when all of the insects are attacking garden plants. Looking forward to seeing your sweet meat squash and hearing about the flavor profile. If you like it, maybe I'll grow it next year.
Hi Nay, happy new year 🎉🎉🎉. Thank you for sharing your seed planting. Im needing some garden..,
Happy new year!
I’ll definitely be here for the next video! Bye for now! 😁😁😁
I love the editing in this video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Great job Nay!!!!
Thank you 🤎🖤
@ you’re welcome ❤️❤️
I’m drinking salted caramel coffee! It’s delicious
Grow onions, GROW!!!!
Thanks for sharing another great video!!!!
🤎🖤
@ 😁❤️
Hey Nay! We listen and we don't judge lol!
Right 🤣
Cooool! Do you have a video on how you built this? I could really use one!
Awww you’re precious.
I followed thecottagepeach. You should check her out she explains it perfectly!
@@NaysLilGarden will do!
I'm in Zone 6a, I started my onions indoors too, and will plant out in mid- April. Drinking ice tea in freezing cold MA. ❤ your channel
Hey girl! Thank you 🤎🖤 hopefully our onions are big and perfect 🤞🏾
YAY! A newer channel! I’m from Kansas and I love MIgardener’s app. I’m also hitting up the Dollar Tree this year because they’re bringing in premium seeds including romanesco broccoli. Can’t wait.
That background sounds like my house. I love it. Its REAL life.
Let’s go microgreens!!!!!!
😊
@ 😁😁
Not me googling ole Matty Matt with the seeds! Girl you sold me on it!! Love your content! ❤❤
Aye let me know what you end up getting
Thanks for sharing the garden items, I’m thinking of using grow bags this year.
I definitely need more grow bags. I made some more purchases so I know I need more 😩
😊
I used the solo cups (with holes in bottom and sides)for my peppers and tomatoes. I also used leca clay ball in the bottom of the second cup to hold water. I used cups for onions, squash, and celery sweet peppers. Everything is going well. I have a room dedicated to seedlings with lights and a good fan going. I'm also using Areo pots that I got on sale from Amazon for $30 each ( Black Friday deal). I have a back yard but I'm not ready to use it yet, I'm going to grow in containers, earthboxes and bags on my second floor balcony. Lots of Sun and some shade, here in Boston, MA. I enjoy all that you do and I am having fun right with you, Sis 😊
I have to look into Leca clay balls sounds like a good idea and I can probably fit more cups per shelf. I’m so excited to start all of my squash and luffa in a few weeks. 👏🏾👏🏾 thank you for watching 🥰
Hey Nay! I need some twine too cuz I plan to grow up. I am saving jugs for winter sowing so I get it…use what you have or what you already bought. Gardening ain’t cheap but the reward is worth it.
Definitely not cheap lol. Sometimes I feel like ppl put it out like it is but it can get pricey real quick. Especially if you are watching other ppl garden 😩🤣
Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I hate Wyche. IDK why she promotes that tomato. Try Brandywine Yellow, Lillian's yellow, or any of the other good Yellows out there to compare. No Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Carbon etc? Oh you have Brandywine Black. That'll do :). Grow it. Flavor!!
Ooo I’ll look into a Lillian yellow and grow a plant of that. Thanks for the recs
Thanks for sharing another insightful video!!! Mmmmm ghost peppers!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m excited for a bit of 🌶️ in the garden
@ sweet!!
hi nay 🤗 i like your hat. yes, most small business owners do take their companies more seriously than big box stores. ive been to his website but haven't ordered...i may have to take another look. matt has so many awesome varieties of peppers and tomatoes. great seed haul. tfs
Thank you! I crochet. You definitely should. A little pricey compared to bigger companies but it always feels good to support a smaller business when possible
Hi Nay! It’s so refreshing to watch new gardeners. I love watching seed hauls. It’s like Christmas morning! Not only does it showcase your interest, it also gives others ideas for the future. I think you’re smart in wanting to slowly add to your skills of canning. While none of the types of canning are difficult, too many new skills at once can be a little overwhelming. Blessings for a great garden year.
Thank you for watching 😊 I’m definitely jumping into canning now that I’ve more than doubled my backyard garden. Fingers crossed it’s something I can do lol
@ you can do it! Have faith!
What's the website for the pepper seller?
Matt’s peppers
Hey I fell the same no one in my area south same temp but same zone 7b
Don't stress the onions in trying the first time too to grow anything edible. But I am starting mine beginning in February. So we will see how it goes fingers crossed for us.
Hey! So I'm a huge fan of Bre Ellis's channel as well and from what I've seen she lives in Kansas and has a longer growing season, so she starts her onions earlier because she can plant out earlier and harvest earlier which frees up her beds for a succession sowing of something else in its place. Like back to back planting in one total growing season. For us in colder climates we might not have time to get a second planting of anything before frost hits unless its something super cold tolerant or if we use frost fabric. I hope this helps. I'm on the struggle bus too but I'll be right here with you along for the ride.
I am excited for the spring too! I've converted all my grow bags to raised beds and this upcoming Spring will be my first time planting my full garden in them. Can't wait to see how everything grows for you over the season!!
Fingers crossed we both have abundance this year 😊
Hey Nay! Yessss to sister buying seeds, I love that for you. Its the inch measurement for the smaller seeds that had the numbers on them.
Oooo thank you! I should have known that lol
Happy New Year! I have the Herbal Tea Organo Seeds. Seeds are very viable and I wanted them for a Tea garden. I'm just getting started on my 2nd floor porch this year and in the fall I will survey my back yard to see if I want a in- ground garden. Wish me luck😊 I love all that you do. you're so funny and inspirational. Take care
Good to know! Good luck. I’ve started some seeds already (perhaps a bit early lol) definitely excited for this growing season
Hey! Im in zone 6a Illinois. Ill start my onions the first part of january, & plant them out mid to late march. My frost date is April 21st. This will only be my second year doing onions. My first year i ordered seedlings from gurney seed. I didnt fet the big bulbs i was hoping for. I did order from dixondale farms for 2025, just in case mine dont do well. Ive heard so many people mention dixondale farms, so thats why i went with them for 2025. Good luch girl!
Hey Nay! Still waiting in my MI gardener package. USPS held my mail up with the holidays. Now I need to see what works for me in 6b in Missouri.
Sheesh! I had an order from another company take a while too. The holidays are messing with our packages 😩
Consider putting your beans in the middle and your peppers on the edge of your beds so they don't get shaded out.
Oooo ok I’ll definitely jot this down. Thank you for the tip
Hey lovie. Just found you and I'm so excited for your gardening journey. Please reconsider putting your vining squash, pumpkins and luffas in beds with things that need full sun, like tomatoes and peppers or they will get shaded out. The vines get out of control quickly. Also, you may only need 1 luffa plant because they are prolific and grow ridiculously. AND...I saw part 3 1st and mentioned not putting lemon balm in the bed with anything else. She is a beautiful girl, but she's definitely a selfish girl and will take over the WHOLE BED! She great, but she rude!!
Good to know. Maybe I’ll put it in my green stalk instead 🤔
Please do not plant lemon balm in a bed with anything else. It will take over the whole bwd!!
I watched a video today and it said to start them mid January and plant them out mid April since our last frost is typically beginning of May. I’m in zone 6 also but in NH. My onions did poorly last year but that was because I didn’t space them enough or fertilize them enough. It’s a learning curve every year.
Hmm, I’m scared I’ll be too late or something so I think I’ll just get to planting beginning of January and just hope for the best 😩. Maybe two separate starting times. First 60 in beginning of the month and second set in the middle 🤔
i love mi gardner i run a salt free seasoning company and i dont wanna raise my prices so i have to really watch how much my seeds cost
Price is definitely important. Shout out to migardener for not raising his prices 👏🏾
You can put out onions before last frost as long as you harden them off properly. You really should start them now. I'm in zone 5 and put mine out first week of April.
Okk. I’m going to start them this week. Seems to be the consensus that I should start them now. Wish me luck 🍀
In depth onion class!!!!! Thanks Nay!!!!!!
🤎🖤
Planning right along with you😊 Love your content and I am going to garden again (on my second floor front porch. I have a couple of EarthBoxes and containers. Love the idea of having a Tea 'bed'. I'm also growing for my sister who loves to use herbs in her skincare. So excited!!!!!
Herbs for skincare sounds like a great idea. I’ll have to look into it.
Part 3!!!!! Oh yeah!!!!!
🤎🖤
Oh my goodness my favorite supplier of my seeds, you can’t beat the germination and can I say “holy smokes you can’t buy seed packets for the little amount he charges” this is all to get as many out there to grow your own food.
Right. Great Price AND Great quality is such a hard combo to find these days and MiGardener is one of those rare finds
By far the best seeds for the price. His strawberry starts did incredibly in my KS garden.
I grew Dr Wyches because of Jess as well! It was amazing. Performed well, and was delicious. Early girl produced a ton of fruits for me. I’d say they have a very run of the mill tomato taste. Good but nothing super special. Good for processing since they produced so much. I also highly recommend pineapple tomato. That is my best tasting tomato yet.
Ooo I’m going to have to look into pineapple tomato
Have you looked into Hugelkultur? Depending on the height of your beds, it's a good way to fill the bottom and not spend SO MUCH on soil.
I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you!
Be careful with it though. I did that my first year and spent the whole time fixing the the nitrogen levels from the wood decomposition. I ended up purchasing my soil in bulk from a local company it was around 100 dollars including delivery for one ton of dirt
@@lestalekale1590 Yeah that's one thing I'm trying to research if I need to tend to. If it's not one thing in the garden, it's another, right?
@@daniellehurrell6620 so true. It did introduce me to fish fertilizer though. I bought the gallon of concentrate for about 30 bucks and you just need to add a cap full to a gallon of water. It is very powerful and works almost instantly. I have been working on the same bottle for 3 years now.
hi nay 🤗 great seed haul. can't wait to see your 2025 garden. tfs
I love the background noise, I feel seen😂
Girl it’s a struggle 🤣🤣
I have water bath canned before. Starting my pressure canning journey with doing broth first.
I need to get a stock pot and a bigger pressure cooker. I’ve been so scared to try but it’s time to get into it
Hey Nay! I have seeds and garden items I am waiting on from MIGardener. Love their seeds!
Oooo can’t wait for the video
I am also getting into canning and plan to get a small dehydrator.
Hey Nay! Back again!
Heeyy
Depending on where you live, your town may give away free compost. Mine does, but the catch is you have to haul it. Every spring I bring every pot and bucket I own down to the pile and scoop my own. Saves a ton on buying soil.
Hmmm I’ll have to look into this. That would be great. Thanks for the info
