For years I have to AirDrop to my MacBook, open in Preview export as jpegs... before I can use the images in Facebook share with non Apple decives. I've got the Automatic setting already selected and it's all HEIC , to MacBook, as attachments to email sent to a non Apple device (rendering them unopenable.) Why after 9 years of using an iPhone is this so annoying? Look at the information below these options "Automatically transfers photos and videos in a compatible format, or always transfer the original file without checking for compatibility." This is a vague passive statement saying almost nothing. It's like a widespread tech language disease used by tech companies. (The closer to a monopoly the more meaningless the information.) Instead how about "Automatic converts photos to jpegs for all transfers and attachments, which is also compatible with non Apple devices. Keep Originals leaves shared photos formatted HEIC which is generally compatible with Apple device only, but saves about y% file size." ( I have no idea if this statement is actually true, but can you see how it's actual information?) And tell Apple? Think people haven't tried? (Another example was MS Word and Excel. I can't ever remember solving anything using their Help information. )

When you take a raw photo it would be good to have the iPhone save a jpeg too. Instead of having to take one shot raw and then one shot jpeg

This doesn't seem to address how to get the exact aspect ratio for Instagram. For portrait, Instagram takes a 4:5 aspect ratio but my photo is in 2:3, so I want to put my 2:3 on a 4:5 border.

I took loads of photos on an android and they were changed from jpeg to heic when downloaded. How would that occur?

Google sent me a note that I was running out of space. So I went to look at large items specifically large photos and videos. I found hundreds of my photos that were in HEIC format many of them over 10 MB can you please explain how they could all be so big these are just regular photos.

Followed along easily up until you said the photos can be changed on the Mac in a simple settings under Photos. I can't seem to find that on Photos or Settings on my Mac.
