Eight Wheel Adventures
США
Добавлен 26 сен 2022
2 adults, 2 kids, 4 bikes, 8 wheels. Ride and laugh with us as our family gets out onto the trails to enjoy the world of mountain biking. 3 of the 4 of us are newer mountain bike riders, and the 4th one of us hasn't really done it in many years. Ride with us, learn with us, and laugh with us as we have a blast every time we pedal the bikes.

I took my Trek Roscoe 7 on a tour of the Seneca Park Zoo trail, and I streamed it live - Full ride
Went out for a tour of the Seneca Park Zoo Trail - www.trailforks.com/trails/seneca-park-trail/
Streamed it live from the GoPro via my phone but felt we needed a full upload of the streamed video in full 4k quality. Beautiful morning to be out on the Trek Roscoe 7. Much fun.

She thinks she is a beginner - I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Gigi very much thinks she is still a beginner mountain biker. I dunno, I think she has progressed past the beginner beginner category. She rocks Rufus here at Dryer Road Park. She says "my riding is slow, boring, noone is going to watch that" HAHAHA she's wrong. This was awesome. Gigi is riding an IBIS RIPMO AF in this video and rocking it. Not too often do I go riding here since it is above our families skill level but when I do I always manage to find something new and gnarly to ride. HAHA. Great fun with the Trek Roscoe 7 as always. Follow our little snippets of fun over on Instagram as well - eightwheeladventures

Am I really having fun is what Annie asked me while helping with this video. Of course it's fun. I tackled the course at Mendon Acres again this summer with Gigi in tow watching from the sidelines. Twisty technical riding with some tough features. Riding the trusty Trek Roscoe 7 we battled our way to the finish line. HAHAHA. We need to meet up and go for a ride soon. We finally got moved to the Rochester area now.
ooooh awesome, welcome to Rochester. Yeah lets do that sometime soon. :)
For the halfpipe on blue trail, did you start at the west-most parking lot or the main trail head? Coming from which end is more flowy?
Main trail head where you go up purple first.
@@eightwheeladventures thanks! A lot of it seems like a back and out so what is the most fun but not so challenging way to get back? My Uncle’s place is literally like a 2 min bike ride from the west end so I might just take the rode.
@Aki10795 it's all about the same as far as difficulty. Everything is pretty flowy. Lots of climbing. We climb more there than anywhere we go. Lol
@@eightwheeladventuressorry for all the questions but for your #1 Im assuming you took the blue trail from the east end and headed west. However the jump you hit is on another colored trail which looks like Orange? Is this correct? And does it connect back to Blue again?
@Aki10795 it's all kinda interconnected right thru there. That lower jump very well could be technically on Orange. Lol. And yeah east side to west.
What year is it beacuse I have a trek rosco 7 2024 and it’s the same
Mine is a 2022. I don't believe the seven has changed over the last few years. The six did get the frame upgrade to match the seven for this year.
I think she is doing great and definitely advancing in skill. I noticed one thing though, To me it looks like she may be one or two gears to easy.
that's a good tip for sure. I'll have to pass that one on to her.
At what point in Letchworth was the route you guys took in this video? I’m thinking about driving down myself and this looks like a good first one for me. Also, is there a campsite near the route as well? Might want to car camp.
We started this ride at the Mt. Morris dam and went south. There is the lean to camp site I would 6ish miles down. Don't quote me on that distance. Lol
Thanks! There is “The Ridge” campsite in Mt Morris so probably not too far from the dam area where trail starts. Might just do it as a day trip though and no staying overnight. Sometimes that’s not my thing haha. But it’s closer than I expected to Victor. The heart of Letchworth is like an hour but this is only 50 minutes.
@Aki10795 it's an awesome ride. Beautiful area. There's some tricky spots for sure but it's a great adventure type ride. We are looking forward to getting back down there and starting further down and going to portageville at the southern end
@@eightwheeladventures yeah! It looked gorgeous (pun intended)! I’ve never been riding in a forest like that before. Have only hiked in places like that so biking will be quite an awesome experience. My family and I have been hiking in California and the southwest. My endurance is nowhere close for riding the whole trail down south. Sounds like quite an adventure! Have fun.
@@eightwheeladventures is the Mt Morris dam area before the toll to get into Letchworth? I remember going there years ago when I was little and we had to pay to get in.
Flats!
I’m traveling for work and decided to bring my bike with me. Today I rode at Beaver Creek state park in Ohio. It was awesome. I live in Binghamton so I normally,y ride around there and the finger lakes.
Oh awesome. Hoping to get down Binghamton way to do some riding. Thinking of doing the Enduro race down that way next weekend.
Hi Chris! I also live and ride in the Rochester area (Dryer Road)! I just wanted to say your videos inspired me to get my first real trail bike, the Roscoe. I ended up going for the 8 though because of the 35mm stanchions, better brakes and drive train. I upgraded the grips and pedals too. Your videos, especially with the family seem so fun. By the way, where do you mount your action camera? I have mine on my chest and you can see my knees from pedaling.
@@Aki10795 that's awesome. Congrats on the 8. That's a nice bike. Let's see i usually put the camera on my chest, it sits upside down on the chest might at about a 35 degree angle. Gigi puts hers on her chest as well and sometimes hers is pointing low enough to see knees while pedaling as well. Thanks for watching. We just have fun getting out there. Everyone has a blast.
@@eightwheeladventuresthanks! 😊
@Aki10795 anytime. Maybe we'll run into you out at Dryer. 😄
It was nice to meet you tonight. Sorry we didn't chat longer it was a little chaotic with all the ROOTZ stuff ending. We will have to get out for a ride at some point.
@@eightwheeladventures You too! Sounds good! All the stuff with the kids looks fun.
Just got the pnw bars and I can’t wait to try them out
Really good review. Most videos usually only talk about the first ride so you dont know how the bike will stand up to a years use. Also most videos tell you to upgrade everything on the bike so only the frame is original Might as well buy a new bike 😄 I plan to buy the Rosco 7 in a months time and feel confident the bike is reliable and needs minimal maintenance
Lol thanks. You can certainly buy one and beat it up pretty good before you need to add or upgrade. Just get yourself some decent pedals because those stock ones really are terrible. Lol
I had wanted to race this event, but ended up under the weather. Nice upload!
Aww that's a bummer you ended up not feeling well. It ended up a beautiful day for racing and riding. Hope you are feeling better this weekend and got out for some riding at least.
Great job. Keep at it you'll get faster. 😊
I hope so! Lol
What tires are you running? They look pretty beefy/slow for this sort of racing.
Oh the tires are way not setup for serious racing. Just general Assegai and a minion. Lol
@@eightwheeladventures I will donate to a gofundme to get you a set of Rekon Races haha.
@Deanosaurous lol no go find me needed. Planning on for next year picking up another set of wheels and tires setup just for racing. Having fun with it so might be time to set things up so it out more seriously.
@@eightwheeladventures I'm about to built out a race wheelset for my Reeb SST as well. It's good to have a few wheels to choose from!
@@Deanosaurous cool that'll be awesome. I know for sure if I am going to do some more XC style racing I'll need something better. Looking to buy a new FS bike in the 150/140 travel range for most trail riding so the Roscoe just might become the XC race bike. We'll see.
Wtg Chris! Love how Gigi appears randomly in the woods with words of encouragement ❤
Lol I tried to talk her into racing it as well but she decided against this one. She's a trooper though at least wandering through with the camera.
Have you fallen on your knees while using them? Protect you well?
Yeah quite a few times. They do a pretty good job. They are lighter than some other models for sure but they do a decent job. We have since purchased the POC VPD 2.0 knee pads which are a bit more robust overall as we found a great deal on them but I still use these when we are out riding lighter stuff.
@@eightwheeladventures thanks…was not sure between these and Fox knee pads
Was looking to all possible variants of something little bit more aggressive hardtail (i mean more oriented for trails than xc), and came that Roscoe 7 are best choice, quality/parts/price. So got 2024 model for 1059 eur, getting it in 2 weeks, can't wait.
Awesome is such a great bike. You will love it.
Great video to cut through the crap. I got my 2024 Roscoe 7 and just did grips, clip-in pedals (roadie - old habits die hard….), and a pair of Maxxis Rekons. This makes an all-weather capable, bombproof, easy maintenance warhorse of a bike for only $2000 NZD.
That's awesome. Lol I will put clip in pedals on occasionally. Depends on what we are doing.
Just got my Roscoe 7 for Evocycles for $1599
@magiclamp-wn6by awesome. Enjoy it. It's a fantastic bike.
What an excellent review and vid! Just straight to the point with everything! We released a portable air pump as well. Can we invite you to do a review?
just rode that saturday, it was so much fun!!! it looks more than slightly intimidating at first but once you do it, you realize it’s one of those silly little inconvenient features that feel good to do
It is a great little feature. Its funny riding it though. In your head you are thinking its going to start tipping waaaay before it actually does. The folks that built it did a fantastic job. :)
She's getting pretty good on that bike. She'll need an upgrade soon. Hahaha
Agreed.
were you guys here today?
No not today. This was from a few days ago actually. Rode at Tryon Park this afternoon
Dude! Is it just the camera angle or did your kid about double in size since last season!?!?
Lol some of it is the camera angle yeah but yeah she is growing like a weed. We moved her seat up a whole bunch this season.
She's really starting to ride well too. I didn't record the whole ride but her and I rode the other night and she was riding like a maniac. Pretty soon she'll be dropping me on the downhills. HAHAHA
har har har har har
Is this some kind of Roscoe?
Yes this is the Trek Roscoe 24. 24 inch size for kids. It's awesome. Annie loves it. ruclips.net/video/wjCaBXPIOxQ/видео.html
what park is this? i’m in the wny area it looks really fun!
This is Dryer Road Park in Victor, NY. They just put this feature in a couple of weeks ago. It's right near the back by the new trail Rufus which is fantastic fun.
@@eightwheeladventures That’s awesome i’ve definitely gotta check it out, especially being a frequent rider at dryer. rufus happens to be my favorite trail, haven’t ridden it in a while though so i haven’t seen the new feature. i’m already planning to be at dryer this weekend so i gotta go and ride it, thank you
Awesome. Yeah they did a great job with Rufus. Annie was all proud when she "caught air", her words towards the bottom the other night. I didn't see it so can't confirm but it's definitely her favorite as well.
Kako bi bilo da se stave uže gume na roscoe naprimjer 2.4 promjera dali bi se to isplatilo jer planiram ga voziti i na dalje staze naravno šumske i po makadamu . Unaprijed hvala i veliki pozdrav
You could certainly put 2.4in wide tires on it. That would be a great width for that kind of riding.
Thank you 🙋
I bought my M/L size Roscoe 7 in Satin Black Olive a couple of weeks ago. I already ordered some upgraded grips from Ergon and pedals from Crank Brothers Stamp 1 v2. I bike to work and trail ride after work at my local minor bike trail park here in Victoria, Australia. The stocked pedals don't grip my shoes at all and the handlebar grips are kinda small and stiff and constantly numbs my hands. I'm still in debate on upgrading my cockpit to all Burgtec setups of 30mm Riser Bar and 42.5 Stem. What tyres do think matches all-season capability? The weather here is kind of unpredictable as in a day you will experience all the seasons.
Sounds awesome. I just upgraded tires here and went with a maxxis Assegai in the front and a dhr ii in the rear. Seems to be a great combo so far.
Nice. I almost went with your teal frame but got matte black cause it had shimano crank and BB instead of Praxis Cadet on the teal.
Oh nice. I debated which color to get when I bought it as well. Lol
I upgraded my roscoe 7 with new pedals, grips, sadle and new xt brakes. Feels like a dream
Awesome. It's such a great bike platform. It rides so well. 😄
I’m glad I waited until they were on sale. I just picked up the Roscoe 9 for $1800. It was $1999.99 and they stacked my military discount on top so it was only $1799.99 which was a steal considering the spec
awesome deal. The Roscoes are really great bikes. I love my 7 and Jack really enjoys his last gen 6. They are just solid.
What a fun way to hang out. Thanks guys. Enjoyed some of the perspective.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Got a 2019 7, is there any significant difference vs the newer ones? Ive got a lot of upgrades tho
Well the newer 7 is a 29er with slightly newer frame geometry, 12 speed Deore versus 10. The rest stock looks similar to the 2019. A brand new 2024 Roscoe 6 is now in my opinion a great buy as they updated the frame to be the same as the 7.
since i’ve gotten my roscoe i’ve upgrade… fork, pedals, wheels set, whole cockpit, seat, drivetrain, 2 sets of tires, and probably more that i’ve forgotten
So you have a new bike with an amazing frame. Hahaha. 😄 Awesome.
Koje kotače ste nadogradili na svog roscoe ? Jeste li širinu mjenjali ili samo marku guma
I just changed the tire brand. Went with a Maxxis Assegai in the front and a Maxxis DHR II in the back. I believe the Assegai is a 2.4 and the DHR is also the same. I believe the stock tires were 2.6s.
@@eightwheeladventures u planu mi je da kupim Roscoe 8 i da stavim uže kotače 2.4. tako da sam malo brži . Puno vam hvala na savjetu 🙋🇦🇹
I got the Trek Roscoe 6 2024 which has the same frame as the Roscoe 7,8,9. It's an amazing bike and I'm loving it. I'm planning to change the peddles and grips too.
Good call. That was a nice upgrade to the 6 this year to give it the same frame as the others. 😄 Ride that thing hard and keep the rubber down. Lol
Is that the Titanic!? Great tips 🤙🏾💯
Yes it is!
Over the past year I've upgraded my '23 R7 as follows: grips to PNW Loam grips XL, pedals to PNW composite, tires to Continental Kryptotal, brakes to Shimano M6120, rotors to RT56, finally the fork to Manitou Mezzer Expert at 150mm.
Awesome. Sounds like good upgrades for sure. Hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am mine. I think my oldest child is waiting for me to make the jump to a FS so he can have the hand me down. Lol
All groups should get the cannon start next year. Hahaha😂😂
Just bought roscoe 9 yesterday. Only 500e more than 7
Awesome. Had that been the price difference when I bought mine I would've probably done the same. Great bike choice. 😄
Well then i got roscoe 7 2024 for 1059eur, think it was good deal
@TG-tf8cr that's a fantastic deal. Enjoy it. It's a blast.
Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle lol please more cow bell.
More cow bell!,!
Hi Chris and Gigi, I have had the best time watching you race. Congratulations! Aunt Kim loves you all!
Aww thanks for hanging out with us. It really is a blast.
I've got a 22 roscoe 7 and a farley 7 they both have the honeycomb grips that come out on them I like those better then any other grips I've had
It does ultimately come down to personal preference. They felt really cheap to us and hard on the hands hence the upgrade. Lol
I just turned 68 I'm not a very aggressive rider
That's awesome that you are out there though. It's so fun getting out to ride just in general. The whole family loves it here, which is where this whole RUclips thing came from.
@eightwheeladventures where did you purchase your 3 upgrades from, about to purchase a 2024 Roscoe 7 in a couple weeks.
@@jeffreyjuneau1959 Grips and pedals were purchased right from PNW. You can also grab them on Amazon. Tires came from JensenUSA. They were on sale when I bought them.
NIce work, keep it up! 🤙
Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Keep having fun out there. 🤪
What bike stand do you use and how do you store them in your garage? I have nothing to really attach the bike to in the garage and people can always take things
We have the Feedback Sports Ultralight Repair stand - www.rei.com/product/749596/feedback-sports-ultralight-repair-stand It works great. For the garage we just bought a few cheap hanging racks that hang the bikes from the front wheel. No name brand that I see on them. Nothing fancy.
Upgrade your front gear
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
@@eightwheeladventures nah seriously i have the old gen of this one and its worthin trust me buddy
Upgrade to what though on the front?
@@eightwheeladventures the shifter make it to 2 speed on front
@@REB00TED. Oh definitely not for me. Lol. I love my 1x in the front on this bike. I had a 3x way way back in the day about 25 years ago. The 1x drivetrains of today are so much better in my opinion.
I love my Roscoe! Had it for just over a year now, rode it through all 4 seasons and its worth every penny!!
Woohoo awesome. Yeah mine is about a year and half and it's been ridden in everything. Lol
