The history of V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, a temple of learning founded by a great visionary Shri V.V.Vanniaperumal Nadar with a singular objective of empowering rural women through higher education, is a saga of human excellence, endurance and commitment for five decades. Having started with a meagre strength in 1962, the institution has grown by leaps and bounds into one of the reputed women's colleges in Tamilnadu. The strength has reached 4117 students of which 2047 are admitted in aided courses and 2013 are admitted in self finance courses. The college offers 22 UG courses, 14 PG courses, 6 M.Phil. programs and 3 Ph.D. programs. At present 98 teaching staff serve in the aided departments and 122 in the self finance departments. There are earnest and enthusiastic 183 non-teaching staff (29 in aided and 154 in self finance). The college became an autonomous institution in 2009 and it was reaccredited with 'A' GRADE(3rd cycle) in 2018 by NAAC.

I am an independent researcher, and as part of my work I have been studying the origins of this poem, "The Raven," for over a decade. I have discovered that Edgar Allan Poe did not write this poem. It was written by Mathew Franklin Whittier, the younger brother of Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier, in December of 1841, based on real-life circumstances. Mathew must have shared a copy with Poe in early 1842. Mathew then published the poem under the pseudonym "---- Quarles" in the February, 1845 edition of "American Review." Poe was a reviewer for the New York "Evening Mirror," and must have obtained an advance copy. He convinced his editor, N.P. Willis, that it was his poem, and pretended to have permission to scoop "American Review" (a newly-launched literary journal) by three days. Poe replaced Mathew's pseudonym with his own name, made a couple of changes, and published "The Raven" in the January 29, 1845 edition of the "Evening Mirror." Mathew was not in a position to publicly defend himself, because of his involvement with the anti-slavery movement in New York. However, he protested using a kind of literary code in his subsequent published works, which I have discovered and interpreted.
