Do you Remember that one time in 79,the Cubs let 4 runs score in one minute, not a grandslam either,,when Sutter, was put in the game in the 12th inng, and Larry Cox tripped over his own feet,,,only time Kenny Holtzman relieved Bruce Sutter,,odd but true..

I was there in Cal City, Whisky a go go. Down stairs in Goldblats they sold monkies, ha ha Sin City is not what it use to be now.
Women with long coats and longer legs and where did _they_ all go?
This video is about the death of the US 30 dragstrip in Hobart, IN. Those long legs you're asking about turned into the soccer mom HOA Karen's that got the dragstrip shut down for being too loud. Same with the Southlake Speedway in Crown Point and the Illiana Speedway in Schererville
I was there ditched school. Madhouse 41K packed to the gills
I wish we could go back to those times! Great times….
Born in Hammond in 1970. Those people were brave. The whole 1970's downtown Hammond was great place to go
Herman Franks. My favorite❤ 0:34
I quit the team that year, I was a junior - wish I had stuck it out even though it was a terrible year. Luketic's last season as head coach.
I was in the last class to graduate from EC Velt, in 1986 it was shut down the very next year!! Proud to be an alum of prbly the best HS ever in my opinion!! We had so much fun and comradery.
Remember watching these games every Saturday on WTTV out of Indianapolis. Loved my MW Pioneers! What a great team that was!
HAMMOND INDIANA WAS THERE ITHE 60S. I WAS A TECH TIGER 🐯 MOVED AWAY TO COLORADO IN81
Good memories of downtown Hammond by Goldblatt's dept store.
Background music too loud. Trouble hearing narration.
This is 1978 and i have been looking for this !!! :)
Thank you. My whole family is still in Hammond , my grandmother still lives in same house my mother was born in. Appreciate this. Looked this up while researching my ancestors 🤍
My stepdad, Ray Leaver retired from 3 O.H. I retired from 80 in Hot strip/3CS in 2003
12/20/23 - just saw this today. 1) I think the room with the slide was the kindergarten room, if I remember right. 2) It would be interesting to see if the houses /buildings are still standing. If someone could make a video of same shots, compare buildings. Thank you!
I wouldn’t raise my dog there. And yet some ppl are still raising their kids there even tho they were born a raised there themselves, sad for their kids
Your clueless..let me know in 20 years where your dog, with your white picket fence and your soccer mom van in the driveway got u.. most likely with kids that don't even know what gender they are sitting in the house playing Xbox all day eating boneless chicken tenders..and not having a clue what culture is..and products of the indoctrinated state. With no survival skills in the real world whatsoever.. That's my guess Anyway hope it goes well for you
It's doing better than Gary...for now.
Born and raised in Hammond. Seems like a lifetime ago
My grandmother attended this school in 1953. Went on to become a Nurse
6:01 Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Hey Hey!
These were the days before they retired any numbers, so Ron Santo's #10 was Dave Kingman and Billy Williams's #26 was Larry Biitner...
kind sounds like hall and oates.
6:53 You can hear Pat Piper in the background.
The eerie music and somber narrator makes this out more like a nuclear apocalypse
Baseball is now dead - it's antiseptic. There are no more arguments. Everything is quiet and calm, like a library.
Agreed
Where is Lightfoot when we need her
You had to have Cragar rims to be cool.
Hammond was my home town
Love your memories
How about Nelson Brothers commercial
I loved Superior Bakery and wish I had the recipe for their French Fruit Slices
I was born in 1959 at St Catherine’s hospital in east Chicago. This video is about me too! I left Hammond in 1980! My brother still lived in the house we grew up in until last year. I was South Hammond by St John Bosco Church
It was a great time to be alive.
Now it's a indoor soccer complex. Well at least it was 3 years ago. Shame.
I so wish I was a teen in these times- i was not born till the 70's
When Hammond was prosperous and a wonderful place to be. What a shame how it ended up in the toilet.
Wow Super cool and Rare to see this ..I grew up in 1980s right before they tore down these schools and many buildings 😑 I grew up on Magoun 3 blocks from Roselvelt. I hope to find more videos or pictures of EC especially by Harrison elementary where once stood House's my Neighborhood. THANKS for posting this video 👍..I actually had the chance to go in this school while it was being torn down. The fireworks they had in the football fields what memories 1980s for me😌
I lived on Indianapolis Blvd while going to West Side until graduating from the Velt. Haven't been home in years, soo many good memories growing up in EC!!
@@boomfiechat I still go back 1-2 month visit family...So much has changed people gone 🙏..
Now it’s a ghetto hell hole
First clip in montage is my uncle Larry “Butch” Biittner hitting an opening day walk off homer. Pretty damn cool. RIP uncle Butch!
Glad u could enjoy the moment. RIP LB.
Larry Biittner was great. And, very friendly. Saw him at the Cubs Convention before.
I was eight back then and lived on Osborn.
Hey I remember this it was right before we moved to TX .
1967 born in Hammond IN - Texan now!
They show the White Sox and Cubs classic home uniforms. These should be their retro home uniforms.
Before the other element move in and fucked it up!
Pretty much all of Lake Co.
Yup meth addict white folks....
Yes, that bank building is still there, and looks rather well too. Just think, most of those kids are probably dead, or getting to it. And who's left is probably living in Crown Point!
Hammond was very busy in the 50s & 60s and even 70s. However, if one notices the surrounding buildings in the clip, they WERE OLD THEN, as now. Around the city busy centers, were hoods ALREADY in decade. Many of those old buildings are gone, and the better for it.
where is the film of Paul Newman and Bobby Kennedy on Hohman Ave., downtown. I just saw it on FB 2 hrs ago and have been looking for it. It won't attach to send out in email. thank you.
Born here...cool to see how my parents saw it...too bad it's a complete slum now... Purdy sad
Frances Burleson work as Secretary of the Hessville Businessman Associations in the early 70's. She help organize some of the events like the parade and Little Red School House. Thank you for sharing the film. Leonard Burleson
