      What Wemby can do is far beyond just defense.. if he played in the 80s or 90s he’d be even better because 3 to 4 players on the opponents offense couldn’t shoot from 3 , and barely any 4s or 5s so Wemby could just stand and the free throw line and be able to help or contest every single shot even easier because he wouldn’t have recover all the way back to his man beyond 3.

    YOU DONT HAVE TOO READ BUT CAN YOU REACT TO THESE LINKS WILT PLAYED AGAINST THE LARGEST DENSITY OF HOF CENTERS AS WELL AS PF Here's a little insight on the competition that wilt played against TOP 6 CENTERS OF THE 1960s: ruclips.net/video/Wm1-jzpr_hU/видео.html There's a laughable idea that there were 6 ft 4 centers in wilts era.It is COMPLETELY untrue. PLAYERS THAT HE FACED THAT WAS 6'10 OR TALLER FROM 1960-1973(players measured during this era were measured barefoot) C-Bill Russell: 6’10” HOF (143 games played in 9 seasons) C-Kareem Abdul Jabbar: 7'2" HOF(27 games played in 4 seasons) C-Willis Reed: 6,10” HOF(72 games played in 8 seasons) C-Walt Bellamy: 6'11" HOF(100 games played in 11 seasons) C-Artis Gilmore: 7'2" HOF C-Bob Lanier: 6'11" HOF(17 games played in 3 seasons) C-Nate Thurmond: 6'11" HOF(47 games played in 4 seasons) C-Bob McAdoo: 6’10” HOF (5 games played in 1 season) (Wes Unseld is also a HOF center but he is 6’9) (26 times in 5 seasons) (Dave Cowens is also a HOF Center/Forward but he is 6”9)(17 games played in 3 seasons) (Connie Hawkins is also a HOF Forward/ center but he is 6”9)(31 games played in 4 seasons) (please note there are more HOF PF who guarded and were guarded by wilt chamberlain but the majority of them are 6’8 to 6’9) _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE HOF TALENT BACK THEN I RECOMMEND THESE 4 CHANNELS -70S FAN -WILT CHAMBERLAIN ARCHIVE -FOOBAS SPORTS -2 RAW 4 TV you can type a specific player name followed by the channel name FOR EXAMPLE: "Bill Russel Foobas sports" "Willis reed 70s fan" "Elgin Baylor wilt chamberlain archive" _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ NOTE: SINCE THERE WERE LESS TEAMS BACK THEN, THE SCHEDULE WAS MORE DENSE. HE WOULD GO UP AGAINST PLAYERS LIKE BILL RUSSEL, WALT BELLAMY EVERY OTHER HOF PLAYER DURING THAT TIME.... AS HIGH AS TO 13 TIMES A SEASON...THERE WERE ALMOST NO FILLER GAMES WHERE WILT COULD STAT PAD...THE HOF TALENT BACK THEN ARE ,IMO, JUST AS ATHLETIC, JUST AS SMART, JUST AS SKILLED(relative to what the rules allowed them to do) AS MODERN DAY HOFers ALL STARS AND OTHERS: Dennis Awtrey: 6'11" Tom Boerwinkle: 7'0" Nate Bowmen: 6'11" Mel Counts: 7'0" Walter Dukes: 7'0" Jim Eakins: 6'11" Ray Felix: 6'11" Hank Finkel: 7'0" Swede Halbrook: 7'3" Reggie Harding: 7'0" Jim McDaniels: 6'11" Otto Moore: 6'11" Dave Newmark: 7'0" Rich Niemann: 7'0" Billy Paultz: 6'11" Craig Raymond: 6'11" Elmore Smith: 7'0" Chuck Share: 6'11" Ronald Taylor: 7'1" Walt Wesley: 6'11" TOM PAYNE 7'2 " GREG FILLMORE 7'1 CRAIG SPITZER 7'0 LARUE MARTIN 6'11 VIC BARTOLOME 7'0 GEORGE JOHNSON 6'11 WILLIAM SMITH 7'0 Notice how many 7ft players there were for a league with only 9 teams. This is because players had to be rotated out to match Wilt's 46 mpg career average both offensively and defensively. Teams would sometimes try to overload on the defensive end with multiple 6’10” players double or even triple team Wilt ilt. Almost every team throughout Wilt Chamberlain's career had some version of this method. My thoughts on some of the questions raised about wilts era The athleticism: I think today, players have a lot more knowledge on how to take care of their bodies and prepare them for the court. However I do believe that the claim of the better athlete is a bit exaggerated. We aren't talking about thousands of years of human evolution lol, we're talking about 60 years of basketball(since the days of bill). ruclips.net/video/BzAMhkuO9EM/видео.html The Lack of efficiency: During the 1960s to mid 70s MORE DEFENSIVE LEEWAY -They could handcheck with 2 hands. -Big men like Wilt and Russell could camp in the paint. -Goaltending violations were called differently(they were called more strictly in the postseason) -There was less spacing because there was no 3 point line, making everyone a lot closer to each other. They were a lot closer because the closest shot was the most valuable shot(you still had high quality perimeter shooters) During his era there was also less offensive leeway -There was no gathering step. -You had to keep you hand on top of the ball limiting the amount of creativity you could have with dribbling( there were still high quality ball handlers…somehow) ruclips.net/video/PDRQ0FYhC0U/видео.html -Offensive fouls were a lot easier to get ruclips.net/video/r-XTPVBOCLw/видео.html -There was less spacing -There was no 3 point line With Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell blocking a combined 20 + shots per game, jerry west(there was 32 game stint where he averaged around 8 steals and 1 block per game) and sam jones allowed to treat you any type of way around the perimeter…efficiency is bound to decrease. This defense-favoring era is a recipe for a fast paced and fastbreak oriented league. Teams could still score in half court sets, but open looks were generated easier off of fast breaks. Wilt athleticism(on film): ruclips.net/video/gt-eypvq4YE/видео.html Wilt chamberlain's defense: ruclips.net/video/uJGCySdvlPo/видео.html Wilt chamberlain's league leading passing skill: ruclips.net/video/A0EPblJCcM8/видео.html Wilt dunking prowess: ruclips.net/video/WGllSScyi_g/видео.html Wilt Chamberlain shots from 3 point range: ruclips.net/video/h0IC8Nwkd1w/видео.html Wilt chamberlain spot up: ruclips.net/video/dKXWdyF--hE/видео.html Wilt chamberlain shooting range: ruclips.net/video/8O9MgNfcGJA/видео.html He was the inventor of a lot of the moves we see today The post fade, post spin, drop step, up and under, scoop shot etc… Wilt's moves were not “pretty” but they were effective. Wilt would get open with a plethora of head, body and pass fakes. Faking a pass left then spinning around right. Faking a pass right then hitting a turn around jumper. Faking a behind the back pass, then turning around and dunking on you Wilt chamberlain post moves: ruclips.net/video/L5LiRNJMHC8/видео.html wilt vs Kareem ruclips.net/video/L2U4JSrpO78/видео.html

      These are guard skills a center for example wouldn’t need this as much because they wouldn’t be driving the ball up the floor. A center is a rim defender, rebounder, and sets pick and rolls; they don’t facilitate the offense.

    • @sidestep2minecraft
      @sidestep2minecraft 4 месяца назад

      thats true but the thing is tall players can just hang by the rim and wait to get the ball so they can shoot it over the defenders head
