Hi Yax, I am a musician and lover of gear from yesterday, and YOU could be the one to end a very long childhood sound mystery of a sample I heard in the 2001 video game soundtrack (Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex) which is used below by a user as his intro sound, who is no longer active. It has another version too at a higher more lively octave in the song Crashes to Ashes as soon as the beat kicks in, and upon doing a music recognition search of the sound looped for over a minute, I got results of a couple more artists also using it, so it is definitely a stock sound, but as mentioned, to shorten the search timeline, Wrath of Cortex already used it in 2001, so it must be a 90s or early 2000s sound effect. I have sent a message to Andy Blythe of the two who composed the soundtrack, still awaiting a response, and it is harder than I thought as someone who tracked down a treasure chest of sounds over the last decade, and I own a lot of vintage synths that don't have it. I have done endless research on it, and I own a lot of "physical" sample CDs myself, but for some reason I get a strong feeling at this stage that it must be a sound effect sample, not a preset in a synth library. If you have any idea, I would be very grateful. The things we do for sounds right? haha I just love that sample and it takes me back to my childhood. I would be happy to donate if you were the one to find that lost gem! Eyo, one of those late nights where your mind just wanders off into rabbit-holes. Anywho, was rather surprised to hear sampled bits of music here, so I attempted to hunt for sources via song recognition out of curiosity with some luck. The ones I found were: Natalie Cole - Pink Cadillac (LP Version) Bauhaus - Double Dare No Shazam, that long "daddy!" sample is NOT Thriller! xD If anyone recignizes any other song through the short snippets of crust, I'd be happy to hear, thanks in advance.

So, you finally got it in the end ;) Since I went through the effort of doing a proper backup with EAC and taking pictures of the one booklet I had, I also decided to put it on the internet archive "for whom it may concern". I made some mistakes when naming a few tracks which I revised in the version I put on the internet archive. On my side, I converted a lot of these instruments to DecentSampler presets and with more modern programming techniques, they can sound really good. So don''t discard 90s sample CDs as "old" or "outdated". A lot of these samples are on par with what you can find in the Kontakt Factory Library for example. The thing which is interesting is that they are recorded dry, nowadays most orchestral sounds have the room reverb baked in. So, it can be a good complement to other sound banks. and they are super light by today standards.
