9n owner here. No sherman anything. Just got new tires. I hope they last another 50 years; it'll be aomeone elses problem. Im not gonna lie, dads kubota is pretty nice, but i can fix mine in the mud on a Saturday with some parts from napa...
I can relate to that, a neighbor here had a 8n, he thought it was slow when bushoging in 3rd gear , it could be difficult starting at times also. No problem it could have been fixed for sure. Well they got rid of their 8n and got a kioti diesel with a loader, 25 or 28 hp, now when cutting on the same ground, with the same 5ft ft cutter, it has to stay in 1st sometimes 2nd gear!!! That's a expensive lesson that I'm glad I didn't make.
I've only ever drove a '54 Farmall Super C but that 9N looks like smart ol' yeller. Great tractor!
@josephbruceismay6832 Years ago as a teenager, I couldn't stand fooling with trying to use it for work, pulling hay wagons, bushoging all day, these task were not suited for it, it's too small to use it safely. Then when you had to tinker with it to get it started, or fix it when it stalled in the middle of nowhere. This drove me crazy haveing to stop to try and fix the dang thing . I wanted diesels and cabs, go all day long with no problems. However, I have learned to repair this 9n and listen, pay attention to different sounds that could indicate that trouble was comeing , just around the corner. Ect. Now I look at it as a dependable tractor with several tasks that it is suited for. It also brings me a sense of accomplishment and pride when I complete whatever is necessary at the time. ]p])
Does that tractor have an auxiliary transmission. (high and low range)?
No it doesn't have a Sherman or the other one, ive tried to find a complete running tractor with one in the past, no luck. I've seen one at a steam and gas show, wasn't for sale, though. Thanks for watching.
@@hnorton8298 I have a Hupp trans in my TO 20. The low range helps with the extreme brushhogging
Great grand father had a rule of the tractor can push it over then the bush hog would cut it
I remember hearing that also.
Sound like Sasquatch takin a shit
OMG! Tractor porn. My Grandpa had that same tractor and my father used to bushhog paths for our dirt bikes. I wanted to drive that thing sooo much, but by the time I was old enough, they sold the tractor. That video brought back some great memories. Thank You
Hi Richard, im sad to hear the tractor got away from your family .Time makes that happen a lot nowadays as we age. Priorities change over as we age. I have 6 other tractors they are mostly larger, specialty use . This was my grandfather's tractor, I use it alot too. If you are ever around in virginia, give me a shout, and I will let you take it for a spin !! Thanks for watching.
I bought my first 8N 1994, it was an unloved 1950. But it ran and everything worked. I liked it so much I bought 1951 8N to keep it co.pany. I named one Pretty and the other Sexy. I got old and I'm falling apart, but those old Ford tractors still run good. Sold both tractors last year and made 1700 bucks more than I paid for each. 3400 dollar profit, and had fun on my 320 acres for 30 . I just can bring myself to sell those farms yet. Good deer and turkey hunting and a live creeks running through the place. I'm headed for a wheelchair soon, but I can set on the porch and remember 30 years playing on those Fords that are 4 years older that me. Ha
Wow, you have some great memories there, Im getting to the worn out stage in my life also. The area I was cutting ,I had been letting grow each year for the pollinators ,honeybees that I raise. But I have let it go too long so it had to come down. A 5 ft bushog and this brush was about all it could handle. Hang in there, enjoy life , Thanks for watching !!!
So very cool! Looks like fun!
5 hrs on that tractor was enough for 1 day kinda stressful , this cutting was the limit for the tractor and 5 ft bushhog about all it was capable of. Thanks for watching.

You're welcome
🤔 I have never seen it done that way. I think I will stick to the proper equipment
It happens !!
Try that with these wild things we got and you'd be chasing them through downtown Gordonsville
These girls are too old to be wild !!
I couldn't unlatch the 2nd chain one handed while holding the camera
Runs it well
That tall lespedeza is tough cutting.
6volt? Cables are very important. 6 volt, positive ground.
You can never beat the old N series tractors!! No computers.

How are the winter conditions where you are at ? Are you haveing the warm days also?
Nice bees btw
Skibidi ohio kai cenat duke dennis rizz
What do they eat?
Since it was a 50 degree day yesterday the bees think it's a spring day, so they are looking for pollen to store in their colonys, the bees mix this with stored nectar or honey to make beebread, they use this to feed the baby larve. In these chicken feed bowls, they gather the corn dust it's the only thing that is remotely close to actual pollen ( protein) that is currently available in wintertime. Not many things are blooming now..
Save the bees!

Thanks for visiting
Wow. If you get any virgin queens I will probably be in the market come spring
Just the genetics you need. A bee that doesnt just corral hive beetles. A bee that demolishes them to oblivion.
Hi, Thanks for the comment, the bees came from Perdue univ, a retiring Beek had purchased these and lost interest. He turned them over to me. Look at their behavior with this soon to be deceased Hornet ruclips.net/video/RQwLSg4sVvE/видео.htmlsi=MK-goHQtPy5sIqPK
I really need to upgrade my seat on my old 2n after watching this. It looks very comfortable. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Thank you!
It makes a world of difference , your knees are lower, your legs help support your body, and you sit up higher with a better view in front of the hood. I made a mistake in putting the original seat back on, the next time I used the tractor, I had swapped them back before I finished useing it that day. Too uncomfortable.
This was a 50 degree day too, cold bees.
Crazy Juveniles!!
Did they end up all going into the new box on top? did you ever find their Queen?
Hi, The next morning, everyone was in the 2 boxes, There were actually 2 queens in there also, I waited 2 days, both queens were still alive, I split them again to separate them!!
@@hnorton8298 I'm so glad it was a happy ending! sounds like it was a swarm gone wrong but you fixed it.

Nice tractor
It's all steel, it starts and runs all day long if necessary, and does what is expected , no excuses !
Beautiful cows
THANK YOU, They have a pampered life.
I would love to see a video about the seat on that tractor. I need one like that! Great tractor and great video!
Good morning, I'll get some pics and info together on it. The stock oem seats sat so low and had no back support, my father and grandfather had difficulty staying in the seat all day. , so in 1970 or so my father installed the seat and a block under it to raise the height this makes the tractor more usable for a days worth of work.

Not nuch will stop that old girl
I'm sure it will out live me !!
What a great tractor. I had a 41. 9N that was a great little work horse.
I’ll have to remember that about the big cables for a 6 volt. My son has a 1950 Studebaker that’s 6 volt. Still needs paint and stuff yet. 1939/40, ya getting close to 100 years old. Creeps up on a fella. I’ve got a 1951 tea20 Ferguson. All great old tractors.
saw needs a major carb adjustment and sharp chain...
Hi, I'm takeing it easy with the old saw, chain is sharp as it can be,see the chips? can you hear the chain rattling? The lube is too thick it stopped pumping, I need the thinner lube for the winter. There was a revision for the 500 s, on the chain lube pump I think. I'm sure I could use it on this saw.when it started rattling I back off the throttle even more.
That’s what my Dad taught me to on a 6volt system you must have a large cable and I like to keep my 8N s as original as possible so that is a good video you made I hope lots of people see it because 6v has a bad reputation because people don’t know at cable thicknesses my Dad even put 2 6v batteries in the lower on his crane to make them 12v and you have a much long crank time than a regular 12 v but I like the 8N you have parked in your garage there to I have 4 of them and 3 are running they are Henry Ford s crowning jewel in my humble opinion 😀🇨🇦
Hang on to those 8n's , maintaining this old stuff is a fraction of the price of purchasing another replacement tractor.
as long as engine has good compression they will start on 6 volt no matter how low temp is. Good running tractors them old fords. Serial number indicates '40 not '39
Hi Kirk, Over the years money was extremely limited here, as a result whatever was damaged by battery acid was replaced with whatever could be found, several times previously used cables were installed with acid intrusion already in the crimped terminals or the brass battery terminals which was a shame. These were not in any better shape than what they were supposed to replace. The cables that I fabricated here made a world of difference. Thanks for the reminder about it being a 40 model, the dealer handwtitten invoice had it listed as a 39 model, that was 82 years ago now. You have a bunch of great videos on your channel. Thanks.
this is so sad even if its just a bee imagine the pain its in
