I feel like this movies premise is flawed from concept. Not every franchise needs a villain deconstruction story. Home Alone doesn't work when you try to give sympathy to the villains. They have to be evil and nothing more. There's a reason why they deleted the scenes from the original that explained why Harry and Marv were robbing houses. It's not funny watching them get punished when they have reasonable motives for their actions. You know there's something wrong when even the low budget copycats understood that.
