Is that the Lyra Delos cartridge on the Performance DC? Excellent review and summary. Concept tables seem to rise to top of my short list which includes EAT, C-Dur, Origin Calypso and VPI Scout.
I disagree with your point about changing the stylus. I have no problem changing the Goldring stylus (for 1022GX and 1042 cartridges). But I assume there probably are problems with low-cost cartridges.
Changing a replaceable stylus is and should be very easy. Our point was explaining the reasoning behind Rega not offering a replaceable stylus on these cartridges when offerings from other manufacturers do offer that convenience. No matter how well designed, a replaceable stylus will result in lesser tolerances than a cartridge body that is one solid piece. This is far from the only thing that matter when it comes to choosing a cartridge, we only hoped to share Rega's reasoning behind their design choice. Happy listening!
INCREDIBLE video! Could not be any more of an understandable explanation.
I’m looking to buy 4 x Q4’s , Q6 centre for a 5.1 setup using Yamaha A6A av receiver ….are the Q4’s good for both music and movies?
Yep 👍 that’ll be a great system! Speakers don’t know what they are playing so good speakers will handle both music and movies very well! We’d love to help get your system together for you when you’re ready!
you guys have great info and presentations however you have to elevate your audio game please, almost 5 mins of total silence after the 10min mark not to mention the signal loss at the beginning.
Yep, sorry for the issues with the microphones disconnecting. It was a last minute decision with some new equipment with new capabilities and it obviously wasn't quite ready for primetime. We'll have it worked out before the next event.
Hi Alan, I'm glad that you picked up the sim audio line I see in the background you have the 761 amplifier if you think that sounds good you should hear the 861 it's at least 25% better than the 761 and the more I listen to it I think it's even better than that it's probably the best A/AB amplifier on the market right now because of the MDCA circuitry I believe that this amp will beat amps from other companies in the 40 to $60,000 range.
We just received an 861 on demo and it is absolutely spectacular!
@@HiFiBuys Wait till you burn it in for about 4 days it gets even better I had a sim w8 and this thing absolutely destroys it as good as the w8 is.
Nice video I would have worn non powder surgical gloves as part of the installation
God bless the people dumb enough to pay $5k for this
Even on my not perfect secondary HI FI speakers and amplifier I must admitt kind of sound is like I prefer. I appreciate that it is not breaking 100k $ but due to some reasons like no comparable savings at account... ok forget it. Congrats for producers for result and the price
You definitely don’t have to spend this kind of money to get great sound, but for those looking to squeeze every last drop of detail out of recordings, these are definitely among the highest performance products available today. We also sell a system that comes in under $1,000 total, so we very much believe that there great performance to be had at all price points! Happy listening!
@@HiFiBuys I sacrified tens of years begining in 1970 for building, trying many very different systems and for aligning and by way I developed some unique interesting ideas aiming the reality of sound on level which I could not hear in other way I believe for my moderate loudness needs I managed to get excellent result which last times (as for me) justifies it . . (or at least it was my satisfactory hobby filling most of free from my professions). if I could calculate my time and effort then (as I said) I congratulate producer the moderate price below 100k $.
What speakers are specifically available for Parasound Hint 6? I like a strong bass base with bass differentiation and gentle high tones
There aren’t many speakers available that the HINT6 won’t drive very well, it’s a fantastic amp! I would recommend taking a look at the Vandersteen line, especially the 2Ce or 3A, or the KEF R-Series if you don’t live near a Vandersteen dealer. If you’re in Atlanta, come by the store and we’ll help you find the perfect speaker for your taste 😁 Thanks for watching!
@HiFiBuys any specific speakers that create a uniquely successful combination and synergy with this amplifier? I was thinking about ProAc DT8 or Vienna Acoustics baby beethoven of the first generation or Sonus Faber Sonetto V g2. I like the warm sound with outstanding bass and gentle treble, making it pleasant for long listening sessions.
@aukaszdrozdziel7854 we don’t carry any of those lines so I can’t speak to them directly other than Vienna Acoustics which we carried previously. We have a client with a HINT6 driving Beethoven Grands and it’s a fantastic system. I would encourage you to look into the Vandersteen 3A Signature, they make everything else is the price point seem harsh in comparison and are the easiest speakers to listen to for hours and hours. The HINT6 is a wonderful pairing with them too.
Confused between Q7 and Q11..Room size 14×18..Music 70 percent movie 30 percent
Either would be a great fit for a room that size! The demo spaces that we have both speakers in are similarly sized - the Q7s are in a 16x19 room and fill it beautifully, and the Q11s are in a 14x16 room and don't overwhelm the space at all (unless you really crank them up of course 😅). If the budget allows for it the Q11s will give you deeper bass extension and great impact from your music and movies. If you are in the Atlanta area, we'd love to demo them side by side for you so that you can experience the difference for yourself and decide if it is worth it for your system. Hope this helps!
I must be sensitive to time and phase coherence. Every demo I’ve ever heard with Vandersteen speakers sounded so right. From the cheapest model up to the Kento.
yup
Is there an option to have metal spikes with these speakers rather than rubber ones? Also do the grills on the Q7 metas cover the entire cabinet? Or do they just come down past the drivers to partially cover the front in the same way the R series do by leaving half of the cabinet from uncovered.
KEF isn't offering metal spikes for the Q-Meta Series at this point, but the rubber feet are a standard sized threaded bolt, so I'm sure that there are spikes available from other places that would fit and work perfectly if you have thick carpet. For the Q7 Meta, the grill does not cover the entire cabinet, it covers from the top edge past the bottom woofer which ends up being about 80% of the face of the speaker.
@@HiFiBuys thank you for your reply much appreciated
@@hclandscapes It turns out they have heard the feedback and will be offering an optional spike kit for the Q series soon! If you are interested you can find the pre-order page by looking up "KEF PQ1 Plinth Spike Kit" in any search engine.
@@HiFiBuys Do you know what the thread size and pitch is for the Q-meta series towers? Trying to work out if my IsoAcoustic Gaia IIIs will fit or if they need a different adapter
I haven't been able to find that info anywhere so far, but I reached out to KEF for more details. Will report back soon!
Sorry for the tease at the beginning! The launch party was on October 5, 2024. If you missed it, we still have the whole new Q-Meta line available for demo at the store. And we even have some KEF swag left, so just ask anyone when you're in if you are a big KEF fan! We hope to see you soon!
Though am not sure if it was worth it to give up on that depth of field to gain a wider sound stage. I think sound stage width wise was already really good and we also had the depth of field. That one tradeoff is what I am not liking on New Q Meta series. Besides that it is Really good.
Absolutely stupid...
Reminds me of the days of Mana These days what you here often is transformer noise amplified by resonant glass racks.
bullshit!
Really enjoying these videos - thank you !
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for this video and the previous on the upper tier Vandersteen speakers. Initially a skeptic, I was stunned by the positive results once I placed my turntable on top of an HRS isolation platform. It was as if I’d upgraded a tone arm or cartridge, yes, that noticeable. My plan is for an HRS rack. Remarkable technology and the folks at HRS are very supportive and responsive,
Thanks for watching! We agree with you, HRS not only makes some of the finest products available today, they are also some of the best people to work with in the industry.
I'm not going to say anything about the racks as they look really nice. But does anyone else find it ironic that one would spend thousands to lower the noise floor with these products just to have a wooden bookshelf full of easily vibrated records, metal book ends and what appears to be a metal case with the lid unlocked? 😂
It seems few people have explored their room to identify all the resonating stuff and discovering what is negatively adding to the resulting sound. The pro tip is -everything- vibrates, the walls and everything inside the room.
Everything does vibrate but not everything vibrates to a point that isolating it is worth addressing. The sound coming from our record rack vibrating is so low in energy that it is impossible to detect over other more obvious contributors to the (considerably low) noise floor in the room like HVAC. If you’re able to hear your records vibrating on the shelves, then you’ve done some incredible work to remove or block other sources of noise, likely at a far greater cost than an HRS rack.
@@HiFiBuys After discovering some evil resonances in one of my rooms I went on the anti resonance war path. I've taken to listening to the sonic signature of various stuff with a cheap stethoscope. You can easily hear if the resonance of any given thing is contributing bad sound or benign sound and treat it accordingly.
@bayard1332 it also depends on how much bass one has. With subs, you can make very noticeable noises come from that bookshelf.
@@HiFiBuys does the system not produce enough bass to rattle anything on that shelf?
HRS makes beautiful racks but you are going to pay thru the nose for them.😅
Thanks for watching! It’s very tough to speak to everyone’s system and circumstances, but for just under $1,000, we’ve found an E1X Isolation Base can often be a better upgrade than a new cartridge or turntable, which can be great value depending on your system. The full rack systems can certainly be very expensive, but we’ve seen many people spend quite a bit more than the cost of an EXR for furniture that does more harm than good when it comes to noise reduction. Happy listening!
Can often be better than a new cartridge? Youre talking SHIT ..... THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO UTTERLY DISCREDIT YOU @HiFiBuys
I have two T9X's arriving any day now....Gonna match great with my B&W 803's and 805's.....very psyched!
Yet another outstanding video! Excellent work, team!
Is the new entry level DS Audio in stock and what is the cost?
Thanks for watching! We don’t have any in stock right this moment but have a few on order that should be here in a week or two from what we’ve been told. The E3 system is $2,750 for the cartridge and phonostage. Please reach out to the store @ 770-931-0606 or info@hifibuys.com if you’d like to reserve one of the sets that are on the way.
Scored a pair of signature 2 for a steal. One bad midbass. Repaired it and refinished the cabs and wow. Wish i had a larger room to move them further away from the walls.
Happy listening!
Great video, Chris!
Thanks Emily!
Fantastic Video. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching, Kevin!
Alan is a great person. I put part of my system together with HIFI buys and upgraded over time. I bought from various dealers upgrading my system over time. Have Sonus Faber Aida 2's for loud speakers, audioquest dragon cables, 2 VAC 452 IQ musicblocks one to each Sonus Faber, VAC pre-amplifier, DCS APEX Vivaldi stack. Pro-tip: Rather than alot of power conditioners you often if possible can get better sound upgrading to copper bus electrical panel and then running 10 gage copper romex to dedicated electrical outlets. You can put master surge protector on the house or electrical panel itself. If you are in an apartment or place it's not practical than power conditioners can make sense although I have found they can actually be a negative sometimes for very high end gear that already has that built in.
Wow Joel! You've definitely stepped your system up big time since the last time I saw you! I bet it sounds absolutely stunning! If you ever want to hear what CH Precision can do in your system, let me know! I'd love to bring one out for you to hear. After replacing our Vivaldi APEX stack, we were shocked by how much better it is. Happy listening!
And there are still plenty of pops and clicks I would imagine.😔
There are, and for many people those pops and clicks are worth it for the experience created from listening to vinyl! And if you can’t get past the occasional but inevitable pop and clicks, there are a lot of phenomenal digital sources available. Happy listening!
I must say that I changed my mind about LP records - they no need to click,(no any pops of my small 100 piece collection) with only one condition that people did not hurt them with hands and tone arms in past. When I play just not damaged LPs I ask myself -"where is realy noise and clicks which were the reason for devolopement of CDs?" Answer is "they are on damaged LPs"
Nice system but you don't need to spend half a million to get fantastic sound ..... plenty of great alternatives for one tenth the price ,
You’re absolutely right! The majority of systems that we recommend are $50k or less, some much less! There are great options available at all budgets, but this system is an example of what is possible. Our job is to fit as much of the experience provided by this kind of system as possible into your room and budget. Thanks for watching!
I mainly listen to hip-hop music. Which would you recommend between the KEF LS50 Meta and the KEF Q Concerto Meta? Thank you.
I think the extra bass punch of the Q Concerto Meta makes them a better option for hip-hop, but both are great options! If you’re in Atlanta, come by the store and we’ll set them both up so that you can hear the differences for yourself!
i just got the planar 3 TT, the neo psu and the elicit mk 5. is upgrading the p3 sub platter to aluminium considered an upgrade? is there any audible benefit? if yes, can you get the aluminium sub platter from the p6 (ie does rega sell it as an upgrade for the p3?) and simply replace the moulded plastic one that comes standard on the P3 or is there more to it than that? is there any recalibration required via the neo psu? i am suspicious this is a material upgrade but thought i would ask you guys! thx
It isn’t a simple and straightforward swap unfortunately and I believe that money would be better put towards an upgrade to the cartridge, tonearm, or next table down the road. Thanks for watching!
Whats the price
$1,299.99/pair
@@HiFiBuys When can we expect detailed review

David White - a rare combination of knowledge, confidence and honesty in the audio world. 🫡
Looking for a dedicated tablet (not my phone) to catalog my music libraries and control that music, going to my streamer...what are you guys using? Thanks in advance. 👍
We use iPads at the store for everything except the CH Precision app because it is currently only available on Android (we have a Lenovo tablet we use for that). The tablets do not hold any music though and just function as a remote control of sorts. We are currently running a Roon server to control playback of just about every system in the store.
@@HiFiBuys Roon definitely makes sense for you guys, with the variety and volume of systems that you operate. I might give the CH Precision app a try as I'm Android. I like how my Qobuz/Tidal playlists are setup on my phone so no real need for Roon, just looking for something other than my phone to control it all. Thanks so much for your response, much appreciated. 👍🏽
@tima.478 the CH Precision app only connects to their products for setup and control. What streamer are you using? That will determine what apps will work for you. Using Tidal Connect (and the Qobuz equivalent when available) is probably the best option if you don’t like the native app for your streamer, and most apps will run on either iPad or Android tablets so there are plenty of options. Give us a call or stop by sometime if you want to get more specific. All the best!
@@HiFiBuys Yeah, I researched CH Precision and saw what it was all about. I'm running a Cambridge Audio AXN10 for my streamer. Love it, especially the presets. Still enjoying the Elac Solano BS283's I bought from you guys, last October. 👍
I have one , connect via LAN to my router and I added Ifi LAN Silencer plugged to the router then connected to the A6 ME and use a separate R2R DAC Denafrips Pontus 2 with Iris DDC connected via I2S. Whole set up sounds awesome. Very happy with the Eversolo.
This or Luxman NT-07 ?
Based strictly on sound quality, I would go with the Luxman, but it is 4x the price of the most expensive EverSolo, so it’s not an entirely fair comparison. For more specific recommendations, I’d need more information…for example, the EverSolo would likely handle Apple Music better since the Luxman doesn’t support that service natively. Thanks for watching!
Agreed, not a fair comparison, i sold my Luxman NT-07 due to eArc cracking noise issues with a Sony TV only. It works fine with other TV brands. This is not acceptable for such an expensive streamer. Hence will try A8 and see how it fits into my system. Thanks
eARC is a finnicky standard to say the least...if you're in the Atlanta are, we may be able to help! Happy listening!
I have tried Wiim ultra and marantz 40n using eArc to same Sony TV, absolutely no cracking or noise issues
Would you be able to give a ballpark price on a Clearauido Ambient with detached motor and Satisfy tonearm?
Sorry, but it looks like the Ambient has been discontinued for a while now, so it’s tough to price…the closet thing I could find is a review from back in 2006 that listed the Ambient with Satisfy CF tonearm for $4,500…the closest table in terms of performance today would likely be the Performance DC Wood with Satisfy CF tonearm which sells for $6,200
@@HiFiBuys thank you. I have an Ambient turntable that I picked up in a package but looking to list for sale just trying to get an idea on value.
Come on lottery ticket!!
Great review, very informative I really appreciate the insight you shared with us!
Thanks for watching!
It can be debunked in one second flat. Ready for it? Ok here we go. 1. Instruments in a live performance are not all lined up. They are scattered. 2. End of discussion class.
Not sure what this has to do with time and phase alignment of speakers. Are you suggesting that each driver in a speaker corresponds to a specific instrument in a performance? And so must be "scattered" to accurately reproduce a performance? The sound of a snare hit, or a singer's voice, contains a broad range of frequencies (and engage multiple drivers simultaneously when played back) yet those individual sounds come from a single point in space when performed. If the drivers aren't time and phase aligned, then the illusion of that recorded sound when played back will be less convincing than it would be if they are. Convincing placement of multiple distinct instruments throughout a soundstage is the central benefit of time and phase aligned speakers.
So a recording being done at a point in space can't be misrepresented by a speaker not being aligned to the recording? Sounds like your thoughts aren't aligned.
Vandersteen being the only designer applying time and phase coherent techniques? What a ignorant comment. There are quite some companies that use 6dB/octave filters and time alignment.
Apologies if we mis-spoke. Nobody is perfect, and we’re certainly happy to admit when we are wrong. Which other manufacturers are using 1st order crossovers?
@@HiFiBuys There are some that state they use 6dB filters and the first that come to mind is Dynaudio, Marten, Duntech, Dunlavy, Thiel. Time alignment can be done both acousticaly and if not too high frequency also electrical.
I always wanted a button for "standing" and "sitting".... most speakers are made for sitting. I like standing.
Setting up speakers properly takes into account your listening position's distance from the speakers as well as your height. With Vandersteens specifically, all of their speakers are tripods with a single spike in the back of the speaker for setting the amount of rake to properly align the drivers for your listening position. You could easily set them up to sound best while standing instead of sitting, but it's much more difficult to make changing the position of the speakers as simple as the press of a button.
You absolutely can make 2nd, 3rd,4th order and higher crossovers that are both time and phase aligned. You have to do it with DSP.
Absolutely! Sorry if we suggested otherwise. Every speaker design is a series of compromises and one of Vandersteen's central design choices is to do everything in the analog domain, which means no DSP. We have yet to find a DSP-controlled system that connects with us emotionally the way that Vandersteen speakers can. There are advantages and disadvantages to any approach, and at the end of the day, all that matters is that you enjoy listening, no matter the equipment or design choices!
Yep. Sanders hybrid ESL is phase coherent (48dB/octave digital slopes) and the two transducers are time-aligned utilising digital time delay on the panel.
Bet you’re fun at parties
Great video. Vandersteen doesn’t get the media coverage they deserve. Great products made in the US by passionate people.
Dating back to the model 2...the hallmark of Vandy was to be open, transparent and boxless. The 2CE had some incredibly flat and coherent measurements too. Listening to Vandy, I feel like I am listening to music, not gear.
Well said! They do truly “get out of the way” so to say.
Love my "cheap" 1 and 2's. If I could afford those three I'd have them.
Nothing cheap about em!! Vandersteen makes great sounding speakers at all levels.
Nice job guys! David helped me get into the Vandersteen Quatro Wood CT’s last year and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you David. ❤
Our pleasure!
