    Hello, how do you know what camshaft position sensor is for the exhaust and intake. I heard ppl say that they are both different. So when searching for exhaust camshaft position sensor on advanced auto (I have a 2011 chevy malibu lt) it only pops up different results for "camshaft position sensor". I know where exactly the intake and exhaust camshaft sensor is located in my car but when buying, did you ever know which one your buying for specifically (exhaust or intake)?

    Got a customer that ordered all but the rear cam sensor about two years ago from Amazon, I swapped em for her and it's ran beautiful until the other day. Flagged 10, 11, 13, 14, 366. Ofcourse had the slight valve kiss outta time noises, I swapped out the exhaust vvt Sol (only one I could get in stock yesterday) and she ran great, went right back to about 6 degrees advance on number one at an idle (by my reader atleast) she ran it to the gas station and shut it down at the pump, now it won't start back up and my reader shows a baseline 6 adv on #1 with key on engine off before jumping up to 30 during cranking and stalling itself back out. I'm heading back over today to start really digging into it and diagnosing it better, was just curious if ya had any info or tips. 🤙🔧👍 Always appreciate the good clear videos.

      @@annadenise8902 You likely already figured this out by now but the P0010 is for a faulty VVT control solenoid valve. The one with a gray top (intake). You can replace it in about 5-10 minutes. Super easy to do. There are several videos on RUclips that show you how to do it on a 4 cyl. Malibu.

      I have a P0016, you think if I change out the cam and crank shaft sensors it would help? I know it’s time chain related but jw. Any advice?

    • @jasonj5862
      @jasonj5862 Год назад

      @@Tren.T That's a code that you do not procrastinate in getting to the bottom of and figuring out the reason. As you suspect, the most likely culprit is a bad sensor(s), especially if the engine is otherwise running and sounding fine. Preferably use OEM sensors, but if your economic circumstances dictate that you need to pinch pennies, buy some cheap ones off of Amazon to use, but hold on to the old ones just in case until the problem is definitely solved either by you or a mechanic. Change out those sensors (since it's easy enough to do yourself) and if that doesn't clear the code, then it would be time to have your timing chain inspected by a mechanic to see if it has stretched out over time and/or it may have jumped. If it has jumped and the chain isn't stretched, that leaves the tensioner as a likely culprit. Good luck!
