Using a CPAP in your Van, Camper, RV, or Vehicle | BRV035
There's an irony between travelling, camping, sleeping, and even living in a vehicle, only to be tethered to a machine each night while sleeping. I've been using a CPAP for 20 years and have figured out lots of tips and tricks when it comes to using one in a vehicle.
Please note that everything in this video should be considered my opinion and is not official medical advice. Be sure to check with your sleep doctor and/or the documentation that came with your CPAP if you have additional questions.
According to the manual, the ResMed AirSense 11 when used with a power inverter the system should have 300w RMS with 500w peak. The 110v power supply operates at 58w and 111.5. with a peak of 73w/...

Right there with you, Rob. Been using a CPAP for just a few years now, and I've invested in a decently large battery to take with me on campouts. Also got the DC adapter for mine for exactly the reasons you detailed in the video. My battery will power my CPAP for something like four nights in a row before needing a recharge, so it's great for all the weekend trips I take and then during the week-long summer camp I only need to charge it once during the week.

Using a CPAP isn't something I'm particularly proud of, but if this video helps anyone who's curious or nervous about using one in a vehicle, then it was worth sharing. The big takeaways here are to keep it protected, keep it clean, use distilled water if at all possible, and if your device supports is, get a 12v power adapter.

I think it’s great that you play games. My sons and grandsons got me into Pokémon go late in the game, however, before I quit long after they quit I made it to second place, rank level 39 amongst the five of us. It was fun while it lasted. The game does force you outside. They also got me into Game Boy and I’m stuck in Zelda while they have moved on to the new switch system. Such fun at age 70 my grandparents never had. Hey, friends. I advertised this as part one of a three part series, but was unable to complete the review. Some of the apps I simply could not get to work, and other apps asked for so many permissions to my phone that I did not feel comfortable installing them. That, combined with the unnecessarily decision to require hard wiring this to your vehicle instead of a simple 12v adapter (and not selling one) means I can't really recommend this model. I really liked the previous model (the P8), but have to pass on the P9.

I was talking with the cat who helped me pick and pull and we agreed it was like looking at a switchboard. My E150 is a big, red, ugly monster. I can't stealth if my life depended on it. Instead I've leaned into being a friendly, relaxed person who stays out of people's way and keeps it moving. Luckily I'm in kind of "boho-friendly" area where a lot of students, etc. hang but I also make it a point to move around a lot so it's not like all I'm doing is sleeping in a metal box.

I honestly think stealth camping has as much to do with attitude and picking smart places to crash as it does with any sort of "disguise" or anything. I've been working on my own "philosophy" (Maxim? Manifest?) in regards to urban camping and most of it revolves around the concept of "don't give people a reason to notice you." Sounds like you might have sparked the topic for next Wednesday's video!

There's a big gathering called Skooliefest. My wife thinkgs it's funny that gatherings are broken down by how many windows you have! I think the idea of converting a bus sounds like a blast and the logistics of driving it around are probably a nightmare.

You hit the nail squarely on the head living in a sedan. Ultra stealth but I live "out of my car" no so much in it. A rig that always catches my eye that you didn't mention was the huge "earth roamer" style rigs. I parked next to one at the grocery store and asked the owner if he'd like to go slumming we could swap rigs for a week. He declined 😂

Oh yeah! I have seen videos of those things and they are like the old joke about where gorillas sleep -- those things can park anywhere they want! That being said... my wife and I bought our first real house right around y2k and it was less than $100k and I know things have become more expensive, but paying more for a vehicle than a house is just outside my brain's ability to process. For the record, I've driven across the country twice in rented RVs and other than the ability to sleep more people, I'd pick my van every time. My buddy and I drove a rented RV 2,000 miles round trip from OKC to WV and back and after all the expenses were totaled it would have been cheaper for us to fly, rent a car, and stay in a hotel. I'm already waffling about my choice of minivan at the end of the video -- I think if I had a minivan, I'd want a full-size van like the one I have. The grass is always greener...

I'd choose one of those Clown Cars from the circus! Unlimited space in those, and they are SO small the gas mileage has gotta be great. Might not be the best for stealth camping tho with the brass horn mounted to the side and the multicolored dot paint scheme....

HAH! You would never starve with all the water-spraying flowers and cream pies in there, and if it ever broke down you would have 100 guys ready to help push. Brilliant!

I remember thinking the one my grandma owned was small, and that was when I was 10 years old! I can't imagine trying to live in one today -- especially, like you, being a bigger guy. The sleeping options seem to be over the cab (good luck) or on a table that converts into a bed (ouch). Check out @KimannChessa on RUclips. She lives in a camper full time, although full disclosure she is 1/3 our size.

SUVs are super popular! I think Nomadic Introvert either parked or sold her van and purchased a Subaru Outback, which she is living out of and recently drove to Alaska. I don't think my knees are good enough for all that crawling around but you can drive and park them just about anywhere. Good luck!!

They are still nice and bright and I still like 'em. They don't throw as far out as some of the brighter halogen ones, but then again that means they don't blind every oncoming driver, either. It's a trade off. I haven't upgraded since these.

Did your mirror link lag in RUclips?

    • @bigrobsvan
      @bigrobsvan Месяц назад

With a solid phone connection I didn't experience any lag or buffering, but when my connection speed drops, I have seen some choppiness. Mirroring involves pushing a lot of data. The units that allow USB connections between the phone and the unit are less convenient, but seem handle mirroring better. Recently I learned that not all USB cables are the same and I've upgraded replaced a lot of my older ones with newer ones from Amazon.

I replaced that storage cabinet with a makeshift sink and a shoddy storage solution and I'm already planning on rebuilding it (of course). It's flimsy and the water container (7 gallon) takes up SO much space.
