2024 Ontario Inter-Club - Goodwood - Briggs Masters
The first round of the new Ontario Inter-Club Challenge from Goodwood Kartways. Combining the three largest clubs in the province for a Briggs-only event together brought about huge fields, including 31 in Briggs Masters and nearly 80 entries in Briggs Sr (that was fun to watch!).
The heats were boring to watch, so I won't be uploading those. The day started off great with the pole position in qualifying. A couple of decent heats (plus a win) gave us a 4th place starting position for the final. Time to see how it went!

Still frustrated with our performance compared to our speed, we got off to a decent start. We had the speed to start moving forwards. But kind of like how the entire day has gone to this point, it just wasn't meant to be.

The not-so-great results in qualifying and the heats put us in a starting spot outside the top 10 for the prefinal. Once again I felt like I had the speed to finish better than we were running, but once you get back in the pack track position becomes extremely tough to improve on.

The first heat was a bit of a struggle for track position. I felt we definitely had more speed than the results showed. With a better start to the second heat we got a little closer to performing how we were capable (but still a lot of work to do).

Returning to race with the younger folk for a day of madness during the 2024 KartStars event at Goodwood Kartways. We've found some more speed recently, so the confidence was a little higher than this point last year. However, a bad qualifying had us starting mid-pack. With dreams of a top 10 finish, let's see how the racing goes starting with heat 1.
2024 CKNA - Mont Tremblant - Saturday Final

Saturday's Sr. Medium final of the CKNA event in Mont Tremblant. After qualifying on the pole we had a rough couple of heats (personal performance, not wrecks), putting us in the 8th position for the start of the final. But that's okay! At the start of the day the plan was to run 5th to 7th until the final couple laps then dodge the wrecks that were bound to happen. Let's see how that worked out!

Lesson to all drivers: obey the flags, not the other drivers! The green flag waved, the pole-sitter drew some circles in the air, and the kart starting in front of me decided he didn't want to push the gas pedal. Sunday's Sr. Medium final from the 2023 CKNA event at Lombardy Raceway. For the first time in over a year I was able to compete near the front in a senior class. Regardless of the result, it felt good just to have that speed again.

Wow, kart #11’s setup had me flinching a few times…surprised he could string it together for anything
That's how I felt driving behind him! He's been doing this longer than I have, and his dad is a good mechanic, so he's still fast. Just a little top-heavy 😁

I've been lucky enough to find a setup that works for me. Things also kind of worked out in this race where the field didn't get too spread out for most of the race (except the top 3, they were gone).

I won't be uploading the other races from this weekend as they are quite boring to watch. I did not pass a single kart, nor did I get passed for the rest of the weekend. Which, of course, was a very good thing!

Thanks! Though rewatching the video I think I needed to go past him as soon as possible. I think I could have stayed with the 309 and had a shot at second, if not work with the 309 to catch the leader.
