Jack Gartsides ties his Secret Sand Eel.
Просмотров 5 тыс.12 лет назад
I taped Jack Gartsides at the 2009 Marlborough Fly Fishing show right after he completed his last round of chemo for lung cancer. You'll notice he's still wearing the hospital wrist band while tying his "secret Sand Eel". To my knowledge this is the last and possibly the only video of Jack tying a fly. Jack pasted in December of 2009. Fly fishing lost a very creative member of the family.

Alas, Armand passed away a bit over a year & a half ago from Covid-19. Great tyer & a really nice person who was always helpful with advice for a new tyer at UFT meetings.
Amazing fast & nice tying job.
Jack your marabou gartside minnow is still an all time great
Why use all the fleyes flex, then something hard on top?
Very nice looking fly
Thanks Bob ! that time of year now.
His paterns catch plenty fish in Ireland .
Thanks for the time and sharing! New Sub here 🙂
Semper Fi Bob, I’m the Marine who asked you when were in the “crotch” when I noticed your ring , was at the Somerset show maybe 15 yrs. ago. Still gung ho. Hope you are well, I’ll be on Assateague Island next week on the surf with a Spey rod. Too bad I haven’t got to know you from the angle of fly fishing.
Joe said he likes this fly for the Joppa flats. I know that's near Newbury. Is that an area that can be waded or is it a boat fishery? Joe seems like a likable guy. Did not know a Regal could do rotary functions.
Nice video of the master Popovics! I subscribed, hope you do the same
Great tying Armand .
Great tying Joe !
Legend!
Very nicely done. I am impressed with the speed that the Regal vise turns. I thought only a Nor-vise could spin that fast. Thanks for sharing. All the best, Sean
Jack Gartside is someone I would have loved to meet. Unfortunately, I didn't start tying until I was in my 50's and he had already passed. I have since seen several video's of him and since we were both from Massachusetts, I would have met him if I had started tying flies. Thanks for sharing this video. There is another one on youTube, but it isn't near the quality of this one. All the best, Sean
Nice tying Bob !
